The sad thing is watching him block and keep the possession of the ball unlike most rim protector, but mostof his teammates are so bad they don’t punish their opponents in transition, if Giannis, Lebron, Ja, SGA ect played with him they would get so much more easy offense just because of Wemby defense

Last time I checked (last month), he also led the league in the % of his blocks that turned into his team's possession (67% IIRC). Chet was a close second with 66%. Incredible stuff that we had Chet who is already a unicorn by most metrics, and then we got the upgraded hardware version just a year later. Victor probably has the highest ceiling in the history of the sport, and I'm here to watch that ride!

Wemby is indeed the best defender, but this is an individual award. He can't play for five players at once. A pleasure to watch, he looks like a big bird on the floor, and you can't stop watching his points, dunks and so on.

I watched this at half speed to some counting. In this reel Wemby blocked about 15 dunk attempts and about 3 shots outside of 16ft. Considering a dunk attempt is generally a > 90% shot in the NBA, that impact is huge. Especially when they uselessly flop or stare at the referee with their hands up 🤷‍♂️ while the Spurs are sprinting back on a fast break.

Wemby has so many smothers, backboard pins, and outright thefts from mid air. In a class by himself. Plus his blocks often go to his teammates instead of out of bounds or to the opposing team. He attacks the offense and has such quickness and flexibility that no shot is safe regardless of where Wemby might have been a split second before. Wemby = DPOY.

Sky hook will work, but will also get blocked from time to time. Wemby is 4 inches taller than Kareem. But blocking the skyhook requires energy, I don’t think wemby will challenge every skyhooks out there, just the necessary ones.
