I had someone be very pedantic to me about it in convo before, trying to argue that it's still applicative to now. But words and language evolve, so now it has a new meaning. One of my favourite words like this is terrible (works with awful too!). Which you can even see in works like LoTR - describing a terrible landscape - in which it actually means that it's awe inspiring. Which makes sense considering "terrific" is almost always used positively 😁 Words are fun stuff ^_^
