Jack the thing is that your 7900x is a Workstation CPU on a workstation platform (x299). It has a meshbus instead of a ringbus which is necessary for all of those cores, which is great for parallelism for non-gaming workloads but not for straight up clocks, which most games care more about, PUBG included. Also it's not just comparing the 4.3Ghz of each core versus the 5.0Ghz of a mainstream z270 equivalent, but also the efficiency of their core interconnect architecture as mentioned earlier. I'm not sure if this is a major contributor of your FPS woes but it might be.

Spot on mate - Running the same card as Jack except with an 8700k overclocked @ 5Ghz and never drop below 110fps and average about 125fps. The 7900x makes no sense for gaming. 7900x has a lower clock speed and there's just no way PUBG is utilizing the 7900x's 20 Threads.

Jack, i had a similar issue, Fixed it by disabling Intel Turbo Boost Technology and just setting the CPU clockspeed right of the bat instead, Slightly higher temps but way more consistent performance.

I had a problem with low FPS when I had my shadow play turned on, turns out it was because PUBG was loading off my SSD however my shadowplay was trying to write to my SSD at the same time. Make sure they aren’t using the same drive or shadow play is off.

You could still set your textures to high, because texture quality doesn't really affect FPS, you only need the vram (which you definitely do if you have a 1080ti)

I tried to play on the SEA server when AU was empty, and TPP was the only option. So the API stats may be squeued by regions which don't have both options.

I had same issues, FPS drops micro stuttering walking in any building or when opening map or tab for inventory. I deduced that GeForce overlay in-game, auto capture highlights reel and auto reply whole game 'enabled' seem to give you a terrible time in game. I started off by turning off auto replay whole game, issue went away, few patches later it was back, turned it all off resolved it, I now play with overlay on and in game auto capture highlights enabled. No issues. Runs smooth as butter 80-100fps. Also set up your config files in Nvidia to give pub g 'prefer maximum performance' also change hyper threading from 'auto' to 'on'.

Jack, I have been having the same issue with FPS for PUBG. Some games it is great and some games its horrible. FPS drops also seem to be spotty and random. Running an i5 4690k and a MSI 980ti, neither are overclocked. My issues seem to be very frequent though, enough to sway me from away from playing the game as much as I would like to.

I've had the same problem with counter strike recently as well, I have a really good rig with an 8 core and could and a gtx1080 so running counter strike is no issue but I was getting low 30s when I wasn't moving my mouse and even worse when I did. I ended up having to go into Nvidia control panel and switching some settings and updating drivers even though they were fine before and it's a lot better but not quite what is was. Other games have exactly the same FPS as they had before.

Have been some issues with the drivers and the game updates that has for some reason changed both usage and such on the GPU. Maybe more affected on higher-end systems. Some games I get 120+ until ppl gets close then it's stuttering like hell and some games its just goes from 144 down to 60 and up again with short bursts. And sometimes it just sticks to 100+ have been like this for some weeks now. usually when i get the fps drop the GPU usage goes down to about 50-70% and then goes up to 98 -100 % when i have normal framerate for my system.

Im consistent at 45 fps in pubg, goes lowest to 40 and highest to 50. I got high end cpu with water cooling, but i need new gpu and psu. Im really struggling in firefight tho, but with aiming and with netcode. It is noticable that if i goes toe to toe with someone else they see me before i see them.

vrm temps on x299 motherboards while overclocking if not kept in check will cause a cpu downclock. Though if you are only running pubg and there are fans near the vrm heatsink (if you have a good motherboard) you shouldn't have a problem. I suggest taking a look at least but if you don't know how, run your cpu at stock for a bit and see if the issues remain. The vrm temps should be fine at stock regardless of the quality or airflow. Just something to try. Could be the problem, could not.

Jack, it might be shadowplay, do you have instant replay and constant recording on and the feature that records every kill? all together will hurt gpu alot, as well as a high recording bit rate, and if you arent posting in ultrawide, dont record in ultra wide, i get a solid 60fps or more on ultra everything while streaming 1080p, on a gtx 1070 and an i7 - 7700k, maybe your crazy core count cpu doesnt work fast enough, i know the game is mainly cpu restricted.

I'm sitting here with a Rx480 and an i7 6700K, and my PUBG seems completely fine; I get an average of 70-85 fps with everything maxed out (except foliage and shadows) at 1080p, so I'm clueless as to why you are experiencing issues, especially when you have such a beefy PC.

so for your fps problem, I have noticed that with my titan xp some games actually get worse fps if I play on low settings instead of ultra, I play pubg on ultra everything excluding foliage and I get well over 150 fps so maybe turn up some of your settings to see if that helps

Im currently having an issue with PUBG which is that Shadowplay wont clip properly in game. When im in the menu it clips properly, but when it loads the actual 3D bits it dips down massively and then the video freezes, while the audio continues to record fine. And its ONLY pubg that does it.

I prefer 3rd person over 1st because I wanna see the stuff I used my BP on. But I think why the numbers are so off is because COD is more popular in the US and UK than Asia. And more 3rd person games have been popular in Asia. Not sure if that is why but I think so.
