Fun Fact! The creator of Pokemon, Satoshi Tajiri, was actually inspired to make the games because he loved catching bugs growing up. So even if you haven’t played the games you still have that connection with them!

Catching horned beetles seems to be a big thing in Japan, seen that specific bug being catched in bunch of mangas.
@ItsABassDammit6 ай бұрын
Yes! Also the original concept of Pokemon was a game about collecting bugs in capsules. People in Japan at the time collected beetles and praying mantises and put them in cages to fight. Tajiri made the game in protest of this practice.

i think it's great that kids enjoy catching bugs; but they also need to be taught how to be kind to them. when i was young my cousins would catch bugs and torment them... as a kid i didn't know better and just laughed along. if you know a kid and you encounter nature with them, take a sec to guide them to be kind to all creatures!

I have SEVERE entomophobia and arachnophobia (to the point of freezing and losing breath and shaking, it's really bad) and yesterday I took all my little courage and went to fix my partner's trike at the local urban halt (cool little park/spot in my village next to the river where they put a bike repair station with tools and everything, available to the public 24/7) even if it was FULL of spider webs and I'm just so thankful I found Maya, because these videos DEFINITELY helped me be less afraid and miserable everytime I even see an insect or spider. I have had maaany traumatic experiences with bugs, and this is slowly helping me recover from it and made my quality of life already much better. Thank you so much ❤

@@alveolateAs someone who used to be very afraid of bugs, and still doesn't like them much (these days I just don't like the ones that buzz) people used to tell me this all the time and it was so annoying. Nobody is scared of bugs because they are afraid of them hurting you or attacking you (usually). Also most bugs are NOT scared of you. Depends on the type of bug of course, but most of them aren't even smart enough to be scared. The ones that run away evolved to hide whenever they see anything, regardless of whether it's human or not because that's how they avoid predators. Usually it's the ones that don't fly because they are easy targets for birds and stuff. Some bugs will actively attack because that's how they get food (ie certain types of flies or mosquitoes) but even then it's not like I'm afraid they're gonna hurt me...

Can further confirm that leaf-footed bugs do indeed fly. All the flying insects in my area seem to want to land on me when I'm wearing black pants and the giant leaf-footed bug is quite loud and obvious when it crashes into my leg. They are not very graceful flyers. The fact that they don't react much to anything is also very accurate. Their babies are cute and wiggle when they notice your presence.
