Accordion restoration and repair- Hohner Verdi 1-part 1.

This is the first in a series of videos charting my restoration of a 70 year old Hohner Verdi 1 accordion. I will try to pass on as much of the knowledge i have gained over the past 6 years of working on accordions and melodeons.
In this video, i assess the accordion, work out how it is tuned,remove the treble side reeds, and clean them. I also prepare the reed blocks for waxing in the reeds

Hi Rich, Your videos are giving me the confidence to try to repair my Verdi II, which is about 50 years old, and also has the grey pearloid case like yours. It has 37/96, and LMM reeds. Have already re-glued some of the valves that I found loose in the box, but I can see that I need to replace them all and re-wax. It will also need some tuning. I have also replaced the bellows gaskets but I think there are still some leaks causing less than great compression. My teacher has an older Hohner, very similar to your Verdi I which we are going to practice on before we tackle mine. We live in the wilds of Wyoming, USA, and not anywhere near a proper repair shop. Thanks for repairing one so much like mine. It will really help me!

looking forward to this project also a question~ would you recommend using an Air can sprayer (ones for computer cleaning) for accordion cleaning as well?

I use it all the time for pushing air in the box to remove dust and other dirt.
