Respected Madam, This refers to Introduction to Accounting. The first book is Journal, divided into cash book, purchase book, sales book, sales return & purchase return books for convenience. Similarly, the 2nd is the Ledger classified into purchase acct, sales account, may be purchase and sales return account etc. and entries are made by grouping the transactions respectively. Now our doubt is - 1). what is the difference between the entries made in first & second books of account. is it that journal entries are in chronological order day wise be it the transactions of sales / purchase, repairs/maint., services, travels and entertainment expense. 2). Is vendor account a ledger ? Is ledger represented in "T" form - the dual entry system ? 3). What does the term "Sundry debtors mean" ? We very often hear this term by accounts personnel, for which considerable time is spent by finance team before closing of accounts every financial year. Point wise Clarification may kindly be made for the concepts to be clear. Regards,
