Hello Simon, the window repair at the Galloping Goose doesn't look very nice. I had the window problem on the passenger cars. Great glue and great ideas for installation. Very good work. Thank you for showing me. Greetings Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang. Yes, the goose is a horrible mess. I think I will just do all new windows when I work on that one. Thank you! Simon

I wish G scale manufacturers would just mold in inserts for the plastic window panes.

That would probably help them. Yep.

Wonderful. I just had my aristocraft caboose windows pop out and was looking for a solution that wouldn't mess them up. I'll give it a try! Thank you!

Yep. The windows like any excuse to fall out of my AMS caboose too. This is the kind of glue I need.

Your putty/toothpick tool idea will be used in my future. For missing windows, I've found that clear plastic packaging shells cut to size work well. Easiy cut with scizzors and free.

I have known some use that, yes. It's thin, strong and easy to cut. I'll have to save some, just in case the need comes. Thanks Paul.

Super! NO NOT SUPER GLUE!!! ARUG! No matter. Yes. Micro Chrystal Clear. Love it. Well…. Love is a bit extreme. Use it! Love how it works. All that said I would rather get a root canal than glue in windows. Not exaggerating. I have slept through root canals. I digress. I have used actual glass windows! And love it. Not that tricky. And boy do they look good. But everything requires glue. And that’s where I loose confidence. Because of experience. Not that i lack experience, it’s that I have had sooooo much BAD experience.

Good fix and looks like a good product that I'll keep as a tool in the box should I need, so to speak. I've used the putty/Blutrack trick before with great effect so well worth sharing.

Excellent, I can now stick the windows back in on my Accucraft coaches. I also have an o gauge Dapol 08 that came with the windows as self assembly items which will benefit from this method! I knew of this product previously, but never thought to use it a glue. Thanks very much for solving some problems for me.

Hey Simon … super glue, crazy glue, and the like are to be avoided at all costs!!! The fumes alone are adept at irreversibly fogging permanently plastic windows regardless if the model is a train car, airplane, etc., etc. Any clear modeler’s glue other than super/crazy-glues will work. But… the real problem is reinserting the displaced windows in Accucraft/AMS cabosses and the like. Taking brass or plastic caboose cabs off the platform is not a slam dunk, my experience. The windows fall out easily because glue applied at time of manufacture years before has dried out. Always an issue in now years old Accucraft cars and engines. Cheers, Dr. Ric

@@ThatBIGTRAINGuy Have you thought about scraping the excess glue residue with a razor blade and then polish the plastic with very fine water paper?
@ThatBIGTRAINGuy
@ThatBIGTRAINGuy Жыл бұрын
@@kenshores9900 I did scrape a fair amount off. The edges in particular were pretty rough. I gave them a good rub over with a bit of acetone which improved them a bit. As I say in the video I'm going to weather this one at some point, so the windows might look like they've been wiped over with a dirty rag. - that's often the condition of windows I've seen in my railway working experience. Haha!

@@ThatBIGTRAINGuy None the less it is tedious and I feel one of the requirements for being a model railroader is that we are OCD. My burden is I am building modules. However they use baltic birch for the modules. The country that provides this thin plywood is Russia. However the US has a import embargo with Russia. If it isn’t one thing it is another.

Simon how many times have you seen Iron Maiden live.
@ThatBIGTRAINGuy
@ThatBIGTRAINGuy Жыл бұрын
@@davidwhite1864 Ha! That took me a few minutes to count. I think... 15 times. My first time was 2006 (which included a back stage pass), and this includes flying with 'Bruce Air' with Bruce Dickinson as pilot to see them in Valencia, Spain. I will be seeing them twice in July this year. London is the night before I fly to the US!

@@davidwhite1864 Oh wow I envy that. I wish I could have seen them when they were on the up. There is a guy on KZbin who has built model stages of a couple of Iron Maiden 80s tours; the Somewhere In Time stage ('86/'87) and one other. They're so detailed with working lights and props, and they just happen to be 1:20th scale - the same scale as my trains! 🤣
