I spent five years working at an Air Force Precision Equipment Measurement Laboratory calibrating and adjusting torque wrenches. You cannot compare two torque wrenches and say that one isn't accurate. We used wall mounted gravity based torque tester, which in my opinion is the most accurate way to calibrate a torque wrench. We also had to exercise each wrench at its highest setting three times before use. If a torque wrench is ever dropped it needed a new calibration. After we calibrated them we put a certification sticker on it and the calibration expired after a year. I appreciate the effort that you put into this but don't knock the AC Delco unit unless its tested against a certified calibration tool.

@@theotherguy3083 I watched both videos regarding the ACDelco, and @kalikraven is right. First, you are using torque wrenches that spec +-4%, which means when you set them at 50 ft lbs, they could actually be hitting anywhere from 48 to 52 ft lbs. THEN, the torque adapter (at +-2%) could read anywhere from 49-51. Let's say your torque wrench is actually hitting the low end (48 ft lbs), AND the Delco is also running on the low side of spec. At 48 ft lbs of ACTUAL torque, the Delco will read 47 ft lbs. BUT, you are compounding the variance because of the flexing of whatever you have the adapter mounted on, so even if the torque wrench is 'experiencing' 50 ft pounds at the torque adapter, the torque adapter is experiencing torque loss because of the flexing at its output. Just comparing it to multiple torque wrenches doesn't prove accuracy, since unless you have them calibrated, you don't know how much each one is variating from spec to TRULY account for the accuracy of the adapter, and they could all happen to variate in the same direction. Those sheets that come with all those Taiwan/China made torque tools really don't mean much.

I'm wondering why you automatically blame the adapter rather than your old, beat-up torque wrenches? The adapter WAS reading pretty much the same value when you tightened the torque wrench to the click several times. It was just different readings for different torque wrenches which makes sense as each torque wrench was a different quality and age. Torque wrenches are notorious for being inaccurate unless you are working in a commercial factory where they are calibrated regularly. When you buy torque wrenches at Lowes, Home Depot and, worse, Harbor Freight, it is going to be the torque wrench that is off. I just bought two of these adapters to cover the range of my torque wrenches. I want to see if they are torquing high or low before I tighten some bolts into my aluminum cased transmission. Final thought - on one of my Harbor Freight torque wrenches, the instructions say to fully screw and unscrew the handle through the whole range before each use. Did you do that? Did you ever do that? Do you store your torque wrenches with them set at the lightest setting so you don't stretch the spring? Most people don't and then they wonder why their torque wrenches are inaccurate. Gotta read the instructions. Most don't.

Dude the harbor freight torque wrenches are in spec even the $15 one. Only thing I dislike is the bottom locking nut.

The ac delco tester has error of 2% +- and the torque wrenches usually 2-4% +-

I'm not sure you understand the dynamics of what you are working with. They can't be tested this way, for what it's worth. I do appreciate the video and the effort...but with an actual controlled test and the proper test equipment, you will likely find them to be deadly accurate.

Sorry but this vid is useless… most torque WRENCHES have an error of +/- 2% if not more.. lol
