I have been wanting this kind of tutorial for such a long time! Finally, I won't need to rely on trying to translate Photoshop tutorials to ACDSee! It's been fun, PiXimperfect.

Hi JB - We are working on videos where I take my shoots and then do some post-production in ACDsee, hopefully, I'll hit on some techniques that are up your alley. Let me know what kind of stuff you are working on ;-)

@@alecwatson9215 Thanks for the reply! Most of my work is events and portrait sessions, and I also like to shoot for fun exploring a wide variety of genres. I post some of my shoot-for-fun images on my Flickr, so you can get a sense for that here: www.flickr.com/photos/20314468@N04/. For most of my event shoots, I do not do much post-processing. It usually is mostly culling, then applying light edits for color, cropping, and straightening. There's the occasional good composition/bad lighting photo I might try to save, but that's usually about it for events. For portrait sessions, I do tend to get more involved with retouching and color grading. Right now, I am probably on my third iteration of an action for a retouching workflow, but I am not 100% happy with it, so I am still looking for something along the lines of one action that gives me the flexibility to choose between light retouching or some heavy lifting and lets me quickly process tens of images. Lastly, there are three things I really struggle with--which could be more of an issue with my skills as a photographer than as an image editor--but I struggle with: 1) making natural and urban landscapes pop; and 2) getting a stylized look to my images (e.g. Willem Verbeek (film shooter, I know) www.willemverbeeck.com/, but there are so many others who style their photos--so really anybody); and 3) having more control over my skin tones. Anyway, probably more than you asked for, but plenty of topics to choose from. I'm just happy that we're getting good tutorials on ACDsee that are not too long. Depth vs. length is always a difficult balance to strike.

Have really enjoyed all of these tutorials. I am hoping you will do a bunch for Edit Mode functionality.

After I made my selection by brush, I added a layer (exposure) and that worked fine. i then added another layer (blur) and after it came up I copied my exposure layer and then copied my exposure layer and tried pasting onto my new blur layer. This is what I thought you did. i may have missed something though. I tried several combinations of pasting and copying (in the box, outside of the box. 4 different combinations). each time it put another layer on the top, above, my blur layer instead of what yours did. But if i do "add mask to selection" before choosing blur and then add the blur, then I get what you got. Im using 2018. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Your video loads and reloads to long. Did you upload a too big file?

Hi Apesa! The problem sounds like an internet one. Give it another shot, you can also change the playback quality to lower resolution if your internet is struggling.
