Protip, answering YES to Chopper's question about the "Face of the Coin" song in Blind Spot (10) will cause you to play Chain Reaction (11A) next, whereas answering NO will cause you to play Repraisal (11B) next. So you can avoid that mission entirely if you want. The same applies for White Noise (15), where the answer to the same question determines whether you play Desert Arrow (16A) or Desert Lightning (16B) respectively.

The Arc in this game took me 7 years to return and finish the Burst Misslie Missions. After finishing I can solidly say, this is one of the most empowering Campaigns ever written. Having a mute protagonist might help, but the feeling of progression with your squadron is superb. By the end you know your the shit.

Starting serial numbers, division numberst etc off at a higher number (like 1000) is pretty comon in the military. If an enemy finds your super advanced new assaultrifle with the serial umber 10108 they might think you are already producing this stuff on a mass scale and are rolling them out asap and not that it's actually just the 108th of a limited prototype run made by one factory. Regiment numbers and stuff like that usually don't get reset so the 105th tank brigade doesn't mean there are 104 other tank brigades in the army just that since the invention of tanks this army had 104 other brigades with that name.

Ace Combat 5 is a game I just got because I had to get another one, it looked interesting. Who would have thought it would have been one of my personal favorite games for a long while. Ace Combat 7 is undoubtedly better gameplay wise, and I still love that one, but this one is still my favorite.
