Me, in a UAS profession, reading this and knowing that that is NOT how drones NOR A.I. works: That is both preposterous and unrealistic. The thing that I love about Ace Combat 7 and its Universe is how they manage to make this unrealistic future society and still somehow keep things grounded in a realistic Aviation perspective. The limitation of today is that unmanned aircraft can't move anywhere close to how manned pilots in supersonic aircraft do, but the good thing right now is that all drones today are still Operator-controlled; that is, to say that a human element is at the controls. What always kept me immersed is the idea of the direction Belka took with drone production, and how the concepts applied in doctrine to either the idea of operator-controlled drones, or A.I. controlled drones. The thing that scares me the most out of this game is actually Mihaly, and how they apply the concept of him to drones. I personally went pale in the face when I watched him kill Champ, because I was like, "that's gotta be at least DOUBLE the Mortal G tolerance; higher than 20Gs, if possible..." Not even manned pilots should move like he does. He should immediately pass the fuck out from how many G-Forces he introduces himself to on the daily while in the sky. By simulator perspectives, Mihaly pulls air combative maneuvers that should subject him to over 17Gs, and a human is physically incapable of surviving 10Gs; the blood pressure can basically cause an instantaneous death while midair; essentially, this makes Mihaly very much superhuman by definition... the truth is, no one in their right mind would allow an A.I.-controlled drone in their airspace, but the idea that they're modeling the base template for a learnability A.I. off of Mihaly, and the fact that they've managed to create drones with supersonic capability is exceptionally terrifying. The very idea of an operator-controlled drone capable of supersonic speeds and missile tech that can be used in air-vs-air encounters is a formidable and dreamy concept by itself. Imagine what kind of world we might live in if we could teach Operators to have enough situational awareness and reaction times to handle a supersonic drone with effective combat capabilities... the forces of nature that Mihaly defies wouldn't apply to such Operators, because they're not in the sky; meaning they could execute those kinds of moves flawlessly, without fail, repetitively... But when you pair Mihaly's superhuman skills, the supersonic drone technology and the intellect of an A.I. capable of making combat calculations instantly and have learn ability... and you've got a concept with potential that far exceeds any machine-based antagonist that we could ever dream of. These experimental aircraft like Hugin and Munin could coordinate with each other in Binary to rip control of the skies from everyone on a global scale in a matter of MINUTES, and nowhere would be safe for humans in the space of 1 hour, if there was enough of them being released into the sky.... by then, even Trigger would be fucked, because what is a world where you can't get Trigger Airborne? ... a world where machines rule everything. That's what it is, and that's what makes them so scary. Edit: Champ, not Full Band

After listening to Labarthe's speech, the events of Mission 4 make much more sense. The "Osean" missile that killed Harling was actually an IFF spoof. Of course, the IUN-PKF didn't know that at the time, but they still needed to show the world that they punished someone for Harling's death. That's why Trigger was sent to Spare Squadron.

Probably a mix of 4 things: Relief: The Eruseans knew that Harling was killed by spoofed tech. Anger: Anger that the Belkans and Radicals were using this tech and framed not only him for Harlings death but also had Band Dog use it to kill Full Band, one the only few who saw an ally in Trigger Sorrow: it took the death of 2 men and many others for the truth to come out and that the Eruseans knew of it before the IUN-PKF and Oseans learned of it Determination: To stop the war, not only for those who he lost (Brownie, Harling, High Roller, Champ, Full Band and Wiseman) but those he had left and for redemption of himself. The Eruseans saw him as a ill omen and rather than be feared by all, he would be seen as someone who held mercy for those who fight with no questions and those who were forced to fight in the war.

This is my favourite mission. Aside from gameplay, the backstory actually told us that this isn't a two-sided war. I wish they made a DLC that explain and/or reveal these hidden forces within Erusea and also Osea, the DLC that we got extends the question further imo. These are the question that rise from this single mission 1- Who took down both Osean and Erusean satellites? 2- Who actually switched the target that made Trigger missile to shoot Mother Goose One? 3- Who send the order to kill Labarthe? 4- Captain Karl said he was expecting a different squadron, possibly he isn't expecting Long Caster too. 5- Did Full Band actually gain knowledge of the rogue Osean military that Bandog shot him down? 6- 444 base had been taken over, did Bandog let that happen? Considering the remaining Spare squadron shot each other down 7- Some of the enemy that we shot down in this mission are actually Osean, as noted by the Erusean News Network since they identified that visually. Who are they? 8- Most possibly that there are another Osean AWACS in the area. I took a lot of time in this mission and I heard more Osean transmission that in this video, mentioning Captain Karl is a traitor or something. At that time I have a lot of enemy aircraft flying around since I was focused on ground target so that's probably why 9- Apart from LRSSG, we never heard about IUN even after Trigger was transferred to LRSSG. 10- Most, if not all Osean only know Trigger as Three Strikes rather than Harling's murderer with the exception of Spare Squadron. Seems like the identity of Trigger as Mage 2 got completely redacted WIsh that we have DLCs exploring these. maybe as a new Mage 2 that replaces Trigger that tragically died knowing the truth or as an unknown Erusean pilot caught in this multi faction mess.

To be honest This mission itself has a lot of questions that yet we don’t know it’s answer It’s the deepest mission in storytelling that we wish we’ll know about everything I think mostly the answers will be in the next ace combat game (I wish it will be a dlc but at the same time I think both ways are good) So here’s a theory that I have I think awacs sky keeper (awacs in the first missions) is a traitor and the pilot that was behind trigger when the tragedy happened And I don’t know but I think the one who shoots down general is mage 1 It’s so complicated we need answers 💀

1. Both of them did. In the briefing for the Battle of Farbanti, Osea planned on a strike on Erusean satellites, incidentally Erusea had the same idea too. The resulting debris caused a domino effect, taking down both military and civilian satellites causing a near (if not total) global blackout of communications. 2. Either Erusea or Belka. 3. Most likely just an honest mistake. Explained later. 4. With comms down it's hard to coordinate things around. They may have planned on sending a different squadron originally only to later learn that said squadron was either unavailable or dead and then got passed onto LRSSG on the last minute. 5. Could be, or they may have believed Full Band to be too much of a security risk to let live. I mean, it would be bad if the Eruseans got hold of valuable intel. That or he may have found McKinsey's porn stash. 6. Bandog is just an awacs, doubt he has any say on it. Also, 444 got relocated after they get recognized as an official military unit. You also meet them later on mission 17. 7. Looks like someone pulled the trigger before id'ing the targets. The friendly fire most likely happened before we came in to ID them during the confusion, I mean, even the Eruseans were shooting each other. You actually fail the mission if you shoot down too many yellows. 8. Possibly. This other party thought that the Captain Karl was just an imposter and they had no way of knowing the truth and the ongoing operation due to the lack of communications. Even if they had no way of confirming this in their minds they felt they might be better than sorry. 9. The war was waging across the continent. Even though we have been to many operations I doubt we participated most of it. That's where they might have been. 10. It might not have been a secret but the details aren't exactly easily accessible publicly, specially with a war going on. And besides, if you look at a soldier or even a police officer you don't exactly think, "Hey let me check this guy's past records. who knows he might have assassinated the former president or something." . To the boots on the ground, all it mattered was that Three Strikes was there to help. I doubt many of them even knew who the pilot was.

Awacs argus ordered the generals plane shot down because captain Karl was a imposter but no one in the lrssg heard him over the radio chatter. The second one is simple. It was a drone. It was one of those F/A-18's you could see in Faceless Soldier (the mission Full Band died if you forgot). You can see the blue light. It's proven by shooting a drone next to Mother Goose One, then a missile comes flying next to you. You can visually SEE the drone fire the missile at Mother Goose One, but since you had a close missile, they blamed you.

I know this is an old comment with answers already, but i'll give my own list of answers: 1. Both of them attacked each other's satellites at the same time, causing a Kessler Event. 2. in-game, a second missile is fired from your right, which is directed at MG1, the moment you fire at the drone tailing MG1. So technically, Trigger never actually shot down Harling, someone else (Georg, but that's getting into cut content) did, but he took the fall. 3. Officially, Labarthe is shot down due to friendly fire from an Osean F-16C. An Osean AWACS, Argus, can be heard issuing the order mid-mission, however none of the LRSSG or Long Caster seem to take note of it. It's also implied that there may have been Erusean meddling to get rid of Labarthe, as the Aces At War (2019 edition) seems to make mention of the confusion. 4. This one doesn't really have an official answer, although given the lines stated at the end by the F-16 about "stealing orders", it could've been that a different squad was initially assigned the operation, before the LRSSG was given it. 5. Full Band's death is implied to be over his discovery about Osea's plans to use Stonehenge. At the time of Faceless Soldier, Osea would still be in the process of restoring Stonehenge to an operational capacity, and Full Band's tendency to constantly break OPSEC might eventually lead to Erusea learning of Osea's plans prematurely. 6. The rouge penal unit mentioned in these few cutscenes is sort of weird. Post Transfer Orders, the 444th squadron is either dead, moved on, or was on Tyler Island. Same applies to Bandog, who knows where he is now. Maybe Osea though that they could pull the same trick again, only for it to go to shit. 7. In both this mission and Homeward, it's implied that they were Osean soldiers in the middle of fighting when the satellite network went down, and were thus left stranded in their AO. In both missions, after saving them, they'll make comments about retreating to a safe location. 8. This is the Osean AWACS Argus i mentioned earlier. It's unknown if he was fed false intel or was an Erusean plant, given the fact that Long Caster doesn't pick up anything related to the fact that a friendly AWACS would be broadcasting on Osean channels, but he is the one who gives the go-ahead for the F-16C to shoot down Labarthe at the end of the mission. 9. After the failure to rescue President Harling, the IUN is seen as being too incompetent at their job, and is mostly sidelined in favor of Osean forces. 10. This is more due to Ace Combat's tendency to hype up the player, as well as some attempts to not ruin Osea's/the IUN's reputation. If word got out that the dude who was found guilty of shooting down (what is essentially) a public hero is now working for an elite task force, there would be a lot of uproar back home. On top of that, Trigger's associates in the IUN probably wouldn't be informed of his transfer to the LRSSG, only hearing of a famous pilot called Three Strikes. And Spare Squadron only really knows Trigger as Harling's murderer because McKinsey was an asshole at the start of mission 5.

Osean ended up with most of the new territory that the Belkans lost not only to Sapin and Ustio but to them and Yuktobania. In 5 they wanted revenge for losing South Belka (North Osea Grunder Industries) so they pit both the Oseans and Yukes against each other, hoping they'd be too weak to fight Belka off but it failed.

Let me say, this mission with the upgrades that have the machine gun automatically fire and aim at targets goes from the best upgrades ever, to the **worst** upgrades ever when the C-1 and escort fighters arrive. The game still sees the escort fighters/drones as enemies, so regardless of the story telling you to not fire, your machine gun doesn’t care, and opens fire on the transport and escort fighters anyway…

I was starting to think that Ace Combat 7 was just another stereotypical shooting game. I became a bit detached as all I had to do was wait for my missiles to lock on and engage the enemy and it didn't make me feel for the characters until missions 16 and 17. The game actually stops you from just pointlessly shooting and makes you think if the next person you're gonna fire at is marked friend or foe, and the radio; it really makes you wonder what the hell is going on the ground. The most you can do is save a couple teammates from artillery fire but unlike FPS games, you're not there. You're up in the sky with a different objective, clueless as everyone else around you because the free flowing info that used to allow telling allies from enemies is no longer available. Mission 18 also shows the desperation of us and our crew going to new lows by attacking a stockpiling base for supplies and fuel. The first thing one of our Wingmen says is to look, there's civilians on the road. They were refugees, and the stockpiling base might have been providing some aide to them and before I even realized it, I was firing missiles at tents. Not an APC, not a Tank, not even a vehicle, just a tent. Regardless of who was in those tents, they weren't fighting me up in the sky and the base itself barely had any defenses, just some stubborn pilots and a cranky old man.

Strictly speaking, realistically, only broadcasts that rely on satellite communications would have been effected. LOS radio broadcasts and landline communications would have not been affected. Of course this means that information will now need to be relayed by transmition/receiving towers or telephone lines for communications, this would be a massive inconvenience for any nation or group whom has become used to near instantaneous communications using satellite uplink/transmission systems. In short it would add A LOT of time to communications and intelligence gathering/analysis.

With the satellites gone, Like JPaul has said any thing that relied on their communications are kaput. Both government-owned and private-owned satellites were also destroyed. For example say if your Internet service provider had a satellite of their own and it was destroyed in all the ruckus. If you use their internet, you can't use it anymore if there's no satellite to help provide the internet. Now put that into perspective of military and other satellites...same thing.

In the Television broadcast front; if you're using a satellite TV; it would malfunction and all satellite television broadcast would cease. The only television broadcast that would remain would be terrestrial broadcast via antennas and Coms Towers.

Well, first you have to have a satellite to launch in the first place, second you have to get it to the space elevator, without as much as a scratch on them because satellites are very delicate things. It would've been a terrible risk in the middle of a conflict, where a long-range airstrike could easily destroy your (very expensive) satellite.

How do you ID so fast? The bridge part of the Mission is highly difficult because for some reason even if I cease-fire, The mission still fails for friendly fire, and how do you do High G turns using a thrust master.

ID'ing is faster the more centred the target is on your screen. And do you mean High-G turns or PSMs? For high-G turns, there's a button - top front of the throttle on mine. For PSM, slow to ~450, set the throttle to neutral, hold the high-G button and pull up.

Fewer Ammo but WAY more powerful rounds. The 800s were a fair handicap since only like 5-6 can drop a plane while it takes like 30-50 rounds from those with 1000+ ammo (like the F15, etc) to shoot a bandit down.

That's because the Russian Su-series are armed with GSh-30-1 autocannon chambered in 30mm rounds, which is larger than M61 Vulcan rotary cannon chambered in 20mm rounds that the American F-series are armed with. Which is reflected in game that the Su-series fires its autocannon slower but deals more powerful damage, compared to F-series that fires its rotary cannon faster but deals less damage, but it's compensated by having more ammo to carry.

I absolutely loathe this mission for one reason. I get that you want a challenge and so do I. I'm fact, I like this mission except, they didn't just change the strategy of it, they changed how things work like 4agms for example. Where the Hell else in the entire game do 4agms lock onto three of four clustered targets that are a few meters apart and then one locks onto a target 250 meters away? And before you say it, I already got the S rank on all difficulties. There's a difference between making things interesting and screwing around with game mechanics to basically be a little shit. They could have made more targets or better aircraft attacking is or made us do some "circus-stunt fly-by." Or Hell, even "fly a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong" to bomb the enemies with but don't screw around with the way my shit works. I've played it a million times and the weapons lock and all kinds of stuff is just a little off all the way around. It's annoying.

some of this guy's videos are great, others grind my gears like this. Sometimes he doesn't do objective gaming... the general's route changed at least twice and some of his support vehicles died because this guy kept shooting at enemy fighters that are scripted to do nothing. Get the targets on the ground first and kill the extras during downtime, you'll still get S rank.
