I was too young to See Kiss in the mid '70s. I think Ace got a unique guitar tone(and style) but i think it would be better if he had a other musican for lead vocals..

I love Ace, but his playing stopped progressing by 1979 and then got worse by the time the reunion tour kicked off. Anymore he has severely diminished fine motor skills. That's what happens when you put booze and dope ahead of your God given talents.

I had a back stage pass to see them in 1975. They were an event more than their music. Backstage was awful. They were all business and did not connect to the fans at all. Now Blondie and ACDC with Bon..Yea that was awesome backstage as well as Rush to name a few that were beyond cool and kind to their fans. Also the Ramones... I had the best big sister. She worked for the biggest FM Rock radio station that's still on as well as the major concert company. lol when word got out I had backstage passes to Peter Frampton right after his Live album, my mom begged me to please just pick a girl! Any girl! They called endlessly, camp out waiting for me...Ah.. good times..very good times. lol Really how lucky I would get was by the band. The Ramones I was getting laid! Olivia Newton , well not so much..ha ha..

i emailed eddie trunk with the idea that he should put together show at beacon theater in nyc on same night as kiss last show honoring ace and peter. have ace and peter play with special guests. he emailed me back saying great idea and that it would be something he would be interested in doing.

@Dave B I wish more people understood music and guitar to realize that he is a mere fraction of what he was in the late 70s. He was never a mega shredder, but he was a world better than how slop-fingered, over-bendy, laggy and slow he is today. I love him and his contributions, but his day is long gone. He is the guitar playing equivalent of a drunken karaoke singer.

@Dave B again, disclaimer, I love Ace and what he once was. And I realize what ass hats Gene and Paul are. But they're absolutely right when they say he couldn't handle a major tour with them. He could barely handle it in 1996. Look back at his live solos then. He was a shadow of his former self THEN. Add years more booze and dope, and you get what you've got today.

It baffles me how a man who inspired generations of guitar players has widdled his skill set down to the equivalent of drunken karaoke. I am a huge fan, but this is beyond painful to watch and hear. This is truly awful. He's about 1/3 of the guitar player he was in 1979 (that's where he peaked). While he was never a technical virtuoso or a shredder, he was light years better than he is here - or even how he was in 1996 on the reunion tour. He is relinquished to a legacy of memories.

God, thank you! Someone who isn't blindly star struck and sees this for how bad it really is. I love the Ace Frehley of the KISS heyday. But his ability is about 1/4th what it was then. I recognize all the influence he gave to guitar players and respect his tenure, but he's a half second behind on everything he plays and sings now. Alcohol, drugs and age haven't mixed well.
