Considered by those in the know to be the musical genius behind KISS, Ace “Space Ace” Frehley was an original member of the band when it formed in 1973, and was a mainstay of the group until his departure in 1982 to pursue a solo career. Ace Frehley's new album, "Spaceman," contains eight originals and a cover of the Eddie Money hit "I Wanna Go Back," continues a decade of productivity for Frehley. The album also features a reunion of sorts with his former Kiss bandmate Gene Simmons, who co-wrote the opener "Without You I'm Nothing."
BUILD is a live interview series like no other-a chance for fans to sit inches away from some of today’s biggest names in entertainment, tech, fashion and business as they share the stories behind their projects and passions. Every conversation yields insights, inspiration and plenty of surprises as moderators and audience members ask questions. It all happens several times a day live and live-streamed on BUILDseries.com.

One night, I went to a Kiss concert. And Ace came through and peeked around a curtain at the bottom right hand of the stage. He looked up at all the seating areas. I yelled out ! Ace, Ace, Ace. Trying to get his attention. I said, that's ok... Your still my hero Ace ! He turned and looked at me, and gave me a thumbs up. He threw picks at me the whole night. I never caught one. But, we connected that night. That was at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

First time I met Ace was at the Cotton Club in Atlanta...I was drunk as shit and he was on the wagon. I had him in stitches laughing and he asked someone if he was like this when he was a drunk...that was the night when Dimebag Darell came up and did a few songs with Ace. Later that night my friends gave all of Pantera a ride to the Cheatah 3 strip club. Awesome times.

Still smokin....still creating musical wonderment. This new track has a ripper solo. All we need now is the only 'Spaceman' to return to the band that is a kabuki theatre show without him, and a one time KISS roadie, KISS cover band hired hack pretending to try and imitate a generationally influential guitarist/artist. That laugh still is a killer.

Why did the producers of this show give Ace a direct cardiod microphone when they should have given him a unidirectional microphone instead ? Not the end of the world, but Ace had to put the mike right up to his mouth and keep it there. It made for bad audio. Should have just used a wireless clip on mike. Other than that, great open honest and humble interview. Bravo..

That's a nice sentiment, but after everything that has happened in the past, all the backstabbing Gene and Paul have forced onto him, like lying to Peter in the 90's that he was making a session artist's salary when he should have been making a hell of a lot more. Sure Ace cracked and eventually told Peter. And let's not forget about all the mental abuse Paul and Gene heaped on him in the early 80's forcing him to quit the band the first time. I mean really...KISS or not given how toxic and selfish and sexist these two people are why would anyone ever want to work with them again when you can self sustain your own career quite fine without them? I still want to know who Gene and Paul told Ace they'd murder if he didn't sell his soul to them. Ace IS NOT hurting for me. He does not need KISS as it is today and he does not need Gene and Paul. They are covert scumbags based on their behavior and less what spouts out of their mouths, no one will ever change that assessment I have made based on what I see and hear from these individuals. Based on their personal characters and the scumbags they surround themselves with I would never want to work with them once. I can't see how Ace can happily work with them a third time.

You have to admit, everyone kisses Ace's ass all because he was the original lead guitar player for a band that became washed up back in 1977-1979. Ace is a good guitar player. But he's no Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, or even Keith Richards. Ace could put out an album containing a bunch of Mother Goose nursery rhymes and all the fans would say he's a musical genius.
