Song history: a meeting was organized in Stockholm to select titles to record and release - contributions to include Linn and Jenny and votes coming from Mega as well as companies representing Mega and AOB outside Scandinavia. Each AOB member was to present their songs and a voting crowd to assess songs and then vote in AOB's presence. That's when Jenny presented "Ravine" very summarily but few in attendance liked it at first. It was however agreed on the basis of "we owe it to Jenny" to have it in. Had the song been with a different set of lyrics, it would have been nixed! Last on stage so to speak was Linn that came with a 4-track cassette recorder to present her home-made tracks while the other members had studio recordings ready for release. She introduced "Lapponia" with a long speech about the conditions of the Lapp people used to migrating back and forth on a seasonal basis. Their territory had been subdivided between Sweden, Norway and Finland while Lapps had no word in this and weren't citizens of any nation but their own. A very political subject! Comments were to the tune of "politics do not belong in Pop music". I loved it instantly but was the only one to cast a positive vote. If she had played the song without explaining all about Lapps, the song would have made it... Later on, I started my playback version hoping that Linn would record "Lapponia" as a solo artist. By then, she had left AOB to all causes and effects implied in such a drastic move and all I got was a lawyer's response to notify that she had no intention to stay in the music biz. If someone wishes to record it, a playback of Linn's guitar version is still available.

@@ricojohn8249 yes, her siblings got on her nerves. They all wanted to be stars while trying to dim the light of the real star Linn. They made her feel guilty about the attention she was receiving. When she got fed up and withdrew from the group and music they all had their chance and failed miserably without her. The only one still running around with a pulse is Jenny who people only pay attention too when she's trying to sing Linn's old songs. What's she's doing now with her life who knows. When she left the group AoB had already faded from popularity mainly because Linn reduced her role in the group as lead singer plus Jonas and Ulf's music was outdated. If you listen to Lapponia here you'll see this is an entirely new sound far different from AoB and also current with other music on the radio at that time. This is Linn being Linn and it's brilliant. No doubt this would have charted if released but it never went anywhere because she left. They made up so many stories,excuses and reasons for Linn's departure. Truth is she clearly she loved making music but didn't want to make music with her siblings because she surpassed them but at the same time didn't want to step on their toes because they're family. So she just bowed and made her exit entirely. I bet she probably has racks of songs she recorded and wrote on her own over the years just sitting in her house never to be heard.

@@187onasimp Didn't expect to see you here as well, but I wish you'd stop speculating and insulting the rest of the band. It's fine to love and miss Linn (so do I), but it doesn't have to come at the expense of the rest of them. We fell in love with the quartet. Pretending like they pushed her out is ridiculous and against not just common sense, but everything they've all said.

I absolutely love their old stuff and the Tech Noir Days. Just imagine what a dream it would be if they also had the "Tech Noir" project going on along side "Ace of Base" the entire time throughout the years, so the former side would represent the more darker, gothic / techno / industrial theme. I would have loved to see how that would have blossomed for many years, because whatever style they do, it always will blow you away!

Esta canción la escribió Linn y la grabó ella sola como una demo,no entiendo que pongan imágenes de los otros miembros de la banda si no participan en el tema,¿o si colaboraron en los coros?La de Everytime it rains creo que si la grabó sola en unos estudios de Noruega cuando Davis dijo que tenía que ser ella la que la cantase,realmente la cantó de forma insuperable y se la nota muy triste cantando,por eso quedó tan bien.

It wasn't easy to do and sorry about a late feedback. The cassette demo was severely equalized to bring out Malin's voice while I added guitar parts and some synths. The intent was to make it sound rocky and nasty given the subject of her song.

It doesn't really sound like an Ace of Base song. I would expect it from the likes of Sinead O'Connor. Amazing song nevertheless, eye opening for any AoB fan. An impeccable production showcasing Linn's maturity and sensitivity beyond pop music.
