Yes, he is all grown up and so smart now. He's all done growing now for sure (I don't plan on him growing any wider either! :P) Ceico is just about 5 years now, and unfortunately he's having more and more trouble getting around. Luckily Ace is healthy and happy, although he doesn't quite seem to understand why Ceico doesn't want to play with him anymore. :( It felt like forever that I had Spartan and Ceico, and it's so surreal now that Ceico (who I always referred to as the baby) is getting old and might not be around too much longer. After 5 years of them being a big part of my life (they are always hanging out with me on the floor whenever I'm home) it feels really hard to think about losing them. Ace brings a lot of light and humor in his little body though, he's like a furry, happy, crazy little disco ball lol. He's just a little ball of energy and I'm sure he'll be at his goofiest when I need it the most. Right now I'm just hoping both my little furballs stay healthy for as long as possible. ♥

@AmazingAnimalTricks7 жыл бұрын
Try taking more time and just building trust before moving on to tricks. It takes patience (and definitely a lot of food!) at first, but a trusting and confident piggy is way easier to train. :) Just keep feeding from your hand, all the time, until it's just a normal thing for them. :)
@chloesuniverse1807 жыл бұрын
Spartan's Tricks Yeah but shes a scardy piggie we got her from a really bad place she hides from us when we go near her and doesn't like being picked up shes ok with me sometimes but mostly only when we're alone
@AmazingAnimalTricks7 жыл бұрын
Piggies do start off really skittish sometimes. It's great that you have her now though. :) Just start by feeding her when you're alone with her in a quiet place if that's when she's most comfortable. If she'll nibble on lettuce or something in the cage, that's a good place to start. Feeding them on your lap is good, but picking them up to put them in/out of the cage tends to scare them even more if they don't completely trust you yet. It can be kind of hard to make progress in that way, because they learn that they get food when they're on your lap, but at the same time, they also get that negative association of being picked up. If you can associate your presence only with positive things (food) and nothing negative (being picked up or startled by loud noises), things will progress quicker. :)

thank you Spartans tricks!😘. also my guinea pig Smores doesnt eat much fruit. only lettuce, any Suggestions?😘😘
@AmazingAnimalTricks7 жыл бұрын
My pigs eat mostly romaine lettuce over any other type of veggies too. :) As long as they are eating their hay and kibbles fine, it's not too big of a deal. You always keep trying to offer other things to see if they will nibble them, and leave them in the cage awhile to give them a chance to check out the new foods. Fruit isn't really a necessity and should only be fed in small quantities anyway (it has a lot of sugar in it!) so don't worry too much if they aren't interested in any fruit. I've always found apple slices (cut very thinly) to be popular with guinea pigs in my experience though, if you wanted to try that. :)

How did you start in the very beginning? Also, is it potty trained to only go in a certain place? If so, how did you do it?
@AmazingAnimalTricks2 жыл бұрын
I have a playlist of the beginning of his training here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/enXEdWaqaMuSlbs Basically, you start by building up some trust and getting your piggy comfortable with eating veggies from your hand. Then you can start teaching simple tricks and build on that. I have training tutorials on my channel and on this page: guineapigtricks.com/training.html He was semi-litter trained. He would generally pee on paper and mostly eliminate in his cage area. Piggies like to pee and poop in private areas where their food and stuff is, so I draped some blankets over the area I wanted him to use and put lots of hay in there.
@sgsheff2 жыл бұрын
@@AmazingAnimalTricks thank you. How do you manage his food so that he's motivated to do things to get treats? I've had some guinea pigs that just don't care about getting treats from me because they just have it for nothing in their cage.
@AmazingAnimalTricks2 жыл бұрын
@@sgsheff I save their favorite veggies for training only. For my guys, that tends to be lettuce and carrots. They only get those two things for training, so they're always motivated to work for them. In the cage, they always get 1/8 cup of pellets daily, unlimited hay, and a slice of bell pepper in the evening. Sometimes small amounts of other types of veggies in the cage as well, but not usually every day. I've never had food motivation issues with any piggies, although some are definitely more food-obsessed than others. 🤣

AMAZING, I have 2 piggies, could you tell me how to train them? like you have with Ace☺
@AmazingAnimalTricks7 жыл бұрын
Just start by sitting with them in a pen or other enclosed area and hand feed them veggies. Once they're comfortable approaching you and taking food from your hand, start with really basic tricks (like putting their front paws up on a low object or walking through a hoop at ground level.) Keep training sessions only about 5-10 minutes long and reward frequently. Make training sessions really fun and easy for the guinea pig by teaching tricks in small steps, giving small bites of veggies for every single little effort. :) Don't try any of the more difficult tricks until they've learned several easier tricks first (tricks that can be learned in less than 6-7 sessions would be considered easier.) Most of Ace's initial tricks only took 3-4, five minute sessions to teach (or less.) It's important to not be too picky or push them too much, especially at first. The first 10-15+ tricks should just be fun, simple, easy things to boost their confidence and get them into a rhythm with learning and working with you. I actually have "trick count" videos of Ace from when he was a baby, where I showed all the tricks he learned in his first several weeks of training (if you look at my past videos on this channel you should be able to find them.) There's also tutorials on www.guineapigtricks.com. Good luck with your pigs! :)

@saadahmad76437 жыл бұрын
do you have any idea where i can get a good guinea pig spartans trick ?
@AmazingAnimalTricks7 жыл бұрын
All guinea pigs can be good with patience, food, and the right training. :) If you can find a pig that doesn't freeze up when you hold them and maybe takes a nibble or two of a carrot from your hand, that would be a good start, and then you can continue to develop that bond with them and teach some tricks. :)
@saadahmad76437 жыл бұрын

I would try looking at shelters and on classifieds sites online first to see if there are any that need homes. And if you're serious about getting a guinea pig, consider getting two together. :) Piggies are very social little guys and can get pretty depressed living alone.

Im trying to introduce my timid newish guinea pigs to vegetables, but they aren't taking them and I'm worried 😩 They are a little over 7 months
@AmazingAnimalTricks7 жыл бұрын
I would try leaving different types of veggies in their cage alongside their regular food for a couple weeks and see if they eat them when you're not around. If they still aren't eating them after that, they might just not see them as food yet (some guinea pigs are hesitant to eat new things that are unfamiliar to them.) If you try leaving an empty food bowl with just veggies in the bowl for a couple hours, they might nibble on it a bit and realize it tastes good, then be more willing to eat it in the future. Romaine lettuce (particularly the really green leafy parts) and carrots have always been favorites with my pigs. Good luck! :)

I’ve always loved your videos. I’m trying to help my neighbor find videos using positive reinforcement to medicate her little g.p. Can you help point us in the right direction?
@AmazingAnimalTricks5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't know of any videos about that specifically. Is she giving her pig medicine through a syringe? If so, she could start by shaping him to bite the syringe, and then practice with water in the syringe before trying with the medicine. One of my pigs was on antibiotics awhile back, and that was what I tried with him. Although admittedly, it didn't work in the end, as he hated the taste of the antibiotics. He learned quickly to touch the end of the syringe with his tongue first to see whether it was medicine or water. I also found that he didn't like taking treats immediately after tasting the medicine, I suppose because the treat would be mixed with the taste of the antibiotics. If they like the taste of the medicine (my boy was also on metacam which he seemed to like) than shaping them to chew the syringe would probably work well for that.
