Hi! I am a new grad, I thankfully landed an ICU interview and prepared with a lot of your tips, I wrote down answers to a lot of the questions you gave examples to and practiced for a few days before the interview and went to the interview feeling super confident and natural, two days later they called me and I got the job! Out of 80 applicants I got the cardiac ICU position!!! Thank you for empowering and helping me reach this incredible dream of mine!

You are a huge part of the reason why i felt so prepared for my nursing new grad interview. I posted my own video w 24 questions and my prepared answers for a new grad interview on my new channel. I felt like I needed to keep spreading the love to all my new grad nurses out there. Again, thank you for all you do for us!

Watching this video helped me get accepted into a nurse residency program. I was definitely prepared when I went into the interview because I watched this video and wrote down the questions in this video, answered them and practiced several times.

do you recommend sending a thank you note/email after the interview? i heard one person say they did not do this but a lot of the information I found on research says that you should.

Hi Caroline! I want to thank you so much for making this video! This was such a big help!! I get so incredibly nervous during interviews (even the thought of them makes me nervous) but your approach and style are wonderful! You have a gentle, calming effect!! I was wondering how I go about calming myself down right before walking in for the interview, I feel good in what you said in how to prepare, but I feel I may forget the information if I am super nervous!! Is there any calming tips you have?? Thank you so much!!! : )

Thanks for updating this video. I got the job at the hospital with your help! But with only 4 training shifts it didn't work out for me. I got 1 extra shift and it didn't help. I had made two nursing mistakes and was let go. Hoping to be more prepared the next time around since I have one year's experience. ---- my one question for you is what if your training shifts with your nurse buddy is not very helpful? What do you do then? That was something I was faced with. I wanted to switch nurses when I had that one extra shift but was stuck with this one nurse. I know its more professional to stick it out and deal with it (that's why I never asked for a switch). She wasn't supportive and wasn't around often. She was a clinical nurse instructor as well and expected me to be on my A game. I also wish the hospital actually gave a solid 2 full time week's worth of shifts too. Anyways, next time I hope it will work out for me because I love the hospital setting.

I have literally bombed every single nursing interview I have had and have not been able to find a job as a nurse. Even the interview I prepared for the most was a disaster. Hopefully these tips help. I'm thisclose to giving up on nursing because mama needs a job to pay off all the student loans I have lol.

if you prepare your answers and you know what to say to certain questions, you kind of sound rehearsed. so how do you make it not sound so rehearsed without spontaneously going off a different tangent?
@empowern
@empowern 8 жыл бұрын
I see what you are saying and ultimately it depends on who is interviewing you. However, from my experience from both being an interviewee and interviewer, most do not mind those who are over prepared, yet may not tolerate under preparedness. So it seems like your odds are better to do everything within your power. By the way, the more you practice your answers (not word for word) the more spontaneous and engaging you can be :)

Everything you have done up until this moment is experience. Be creative, you have been successful in nursing school which required organization, concentration and resiliency. Did you get good grades in high school and were also a member of a club and or sports team? Did you ever volunteer? Use what you have an elaborate on that. There are many employers who want "fresh nurses" in the sense that they have not been taught shortcuts or the wrong way in doing things. Your inexperience can be your greatest asset :)

I know right.... people who are interviewing you should have a better disposition for you to feel comfortable with. I avoided all that as a provider. I get those expression from my patients more then anything. I understand they are not related but, I don't even the people giving the interview want to be at work. LoL.

whoopie cushions!! Haha just kidding!! I would say something that I truly like that is beneficial for customer service, satisfaction & safety. For example, I love watching biographies, I learn so much from other peoples experiences. So when I'm at work, I love getting to know my patients by talking to them about their lives beyond what is currently going on. I hope this helps 😘

I would think engaging your patients would be a lot of fun. Getting to know their life stories because everyone has at least one unique, funny, or interesting story. Basically what Mrs. CPT said!

andraacram, that was the answer I actually gave during my interview. My interviewer didn't seem very impressed so I thought I'd ask here for other's input (for my next interview) but I'm glad to know other nurses find fun at work from engaging their patients too!
