Acebeam T35: Video Transcript
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So I own the Acebeam P16 and though it's a great light, I don't carry it around often due to the larger head. So I was excited to find out that Acebeam released their new T35, which has a smaller bezel with excellent long-range performance. In many ways it reminds me of the Fenix PD35, but there are some significant differences too. Acebeam offer this light in two colors (black/coyote - looks greenish/brown) and two tints (5000, 6500K).
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Excellent built quality. I've always been impressed with the quality control and construction of all the Acebeam lights I've reviewed. The T35 has a sleek, miliary-like look, there are no rough spots or flaws in the machining. Some cutouts on the head for better heat-sinking. Checkered knurling which is quite grippy. Matt black anodizing on my model - quite grippy in itself.
• Chunky-looking clip. Glossy paint. There's a lanyard hole. Takes 18650/CR123 primaries. USB-C onboard charging - port cover feels solid and maintains a nice seal. Aluminium side switch that functions as a battery indicator too. One large protruding rubber tail switch - does not tail stand. Spring under the head and tailcap - helps with shock absorption/recoil.
• Coated stainless-steel crenulated bezel for self-defense. SMO reflector with SFT40 + glass lens.
UI - modes
• Did I mention that I prefer simple UIs? The T35 is as simple as you get.
• Press the tails-witch halfway for momentary mode. You can set this to turbo.
• Once on, press side switch to cycle ML, L, M, H, and Turbo. Press and hold the side switch for a 15hz strobe.
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
• Perfectly circular and even hotspot - I like that it's larger as well to illuminate a wider area. Good spill.
Considerations
• 2600mAh cell - wish they included a 3500mAh one. You can always use another battery like the Samsung 30Q. Port cover
• Price - it's going to cost you more than twice as much as say a Wurkkos FC12. But in return, you get better quality, better performance, and regulated output.
• Some tactical flashlight enthusiasts don't like side switches on their lights. It could lead to you accidentally changing the brightness. But a light with only one mode isn't practical for most people, including myself. I like being able to switch to lower modes for other tasks.
Verdict
• I'm impressed with the T35. It's about time Acebeam came up with their own 18650 tube-style tactical light that has a slim bezel. After reviewing over 100+ lights, I find these are the style of lights I actually carry around and use the most due to the balance of comfort and performance. Brightness usually comes at the cost of a large bezel. The T35 is just as good of an option as the Fenix PD35 or similar, which is in my top 5 tactical lights. It was very difficult for me to fault this light. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a high-performing, pocketable tactical light with all the bells and whistles.

@@DarrenYeoYT definitely useful for me, for example i wouldnt have bought the sofirn sc03 until i found out the lantern leds have high cri from your vid,which was the only source that i could get that piece of info from the entire internet. i found nobody mentioned it except you.

I have a ring light to light my desk when making reviews and they have the same SMD LEDs, just 100s of them and high CRI. Worth paying a bit extra for. Ok I thought of making a lumen tube but people seem cool with the general ceiling bounce tests, plus it's way less work 😅

Have you thought about checking out the thrunite tn12 pro? Its tailswitch is direct to turbo.

Have looked into this one a bit too, and also seems to be a good option. I don't know why some tactical lights use that glossy finish though, it's slippery!

Awesome looking light, have been considering getting the Acebeam P16 for a while now but the larger diameter head put me off a bit. The T35 looks like it might be just about perfect for my needs with the slim profile but still having good throw.

Yeah I think they got it right in this model, well for my purposes anyway. I'd rather a little less throw but still be able to carry it around easily.

Also didn't like that Acebeam prints "defender" on the P series lights. Has always put me off when manufacturers put things like "Defender, Striker or Tactical" on the actual light, always think it draws un-necessary attention or suggests it's use as a weapon. I feel the same way about overly aggressive bezel designs. This model seems to get that part right with just a model number and the bezel design looks functional but more conservative.

The UI is kind of useless for a tactical light. I dont know why all the manufacturers dont get it and give their tactical lights the UI from Olight. Turbo and Strobe from the tailswitch and the other modes from the side switch.

Nextorch have that UI you describe too. For a 'proper' tactical UI, you can't beat it. I use this as a general EDC too so I don't mind as long as it can remember turbo. The hold to strobe won't get any use from me.

@@DarrenYeoYT Yes the Nextorch TA30 UI is even better. You can still use the T35 as edc but as edc its annoying to have to switch the tail button first. Here on a Olight Warrior you could just turn it on from the side switch. So the Olight UI makes it a better tactical and better edc light for me.

Tough choice. But probably the PD35 V3.0 (I'm guessing that's the version you're talking about and not the previous one.. otherwise I'd pick the T35 over the V2).

I don't know much about trustfire, but they've been around in the past and their flashlight were initially terrible but are now getting better apparently. If you can get them for a good price, and reviews look fine, then worth a try. ​@@enricopietrac.5968

The T2 Tac would be a better option. I have the T2 and I didn't like the UI as the memory mode to turbo was slow if I remember correctly. So it'd flip to low if I turned it on and off too fast.

Excellent runtime on Turbo for such a small head. And a good sustainable output on high. Acebeam in general has always been a good performer.

Nicely package and slim, but that beam pattern is quite ugly, like shining a light through the bottom of a glass bottle.

Looks smoother in real life, I had to bump up the ISO. But yeah it does have this brighter spill area around the centre hotspot.

nextorch ta-30c is still the absolute best tactical light ever. what i see in the t35 is just another tube light with a crap interface. nothing touches nextorch selector ring and two stage e-switch. the ta-30c is the only e-switch superior to even well tuned mechanical tail switches from weltool.

I just wish the TA30C had an SFT40. I'm tempted to swap in my 3000K sft40 there but not sure if it will focus properly with that reflector.

@@DarrenYeoYT yes the sst70 is green. it's a tac light, so that's forgivable imo. fwiw, i bought the p16 first, and i loved it, but those 2 additional millimeters of head diameter lead me to the ta30c. that said, i wasn't sold until i used the selector ring. man that thing is so dialed in. love it.
