I am glad that we didnt buy overpriced players with little prospects of a permanent place in the team - or resale value. It is much preferable that we take a longer term strategic approach to recruitment. We need a striker. We didnt have enough time or opportunity to organise it last summer - and we werent going to pay over the odds for a player who doesnt fit the bill. I would start to get upset if there was no striker signed in the summer. We need time to identify and speak to the people that could do the job we expect from a young and mobile striker than we can improve, enjoy and sell on for good money. Fans want solutions NOW. Then they greet when the overpriced interim player isnt good enough and were a waste of money. Grow up. We have enough to do well in the league and win another cup. We were never contenders for the later stages of the UCL. Ambition is good, but reality has its own way with 'ambition'. Jota for Kyogo was an absolute steal by us. We have Plenty ammo up front without Kyogo - lovely player that he was for us. I wish some Celtic supporters would grow up. We have a recruitment and sell-on system that has kept us as a great team And made us money. We need to be patient and trust the process.

Another shambolic transfer window... not to at least bring in a striker after letting Kyogo leave is a disgrace. I am underwhelmed and very frustrated, like most supporters. This mess is the fault of the CEO and chairman, who have again shown they have been under-prepared for another transfer window..and not given the manager the quality players he needed. To drag their heels and not pay to get players in for positions we need to strengthen the team/squad for the 2nd half of the season, is unacceptable.. They're not slow at debiting your bank account for match tickets.. That clown Mark Lawwell paid the price for his ineptitude last January... hopefully, his fat cat dad suffers the same fate this year...and his pathetic wee mascot Nicholson follows him. However, we know it won't happen as we have an old, twisted, absent landlord who enables this incompetence. We are run like a wee bowling club.. These people are not fit to run our club how it should be run.. No ambition, no clue and no respect for the manager and supporters .. We really deserve better, and it's clear the current custodians of our club can't deliver it. Hail Hail

Difficult to argue BR has not been backed when he got Engels, Idah and Trusty last summer, Jota this window and Tierney in the summer along with additional players yet to be named. Squad turnover takes time and many windows, it's clear this is the objective. It's also clear he is targeting players of a higher caliber and he will wait for that quality if needed. He knows we don't have excess money to squander.

The 14m for kvistgaarden sounds about right, we were never getting him for 7m. Also brondy would know kyogo was likely to go as celtic would not carry 3 strikers at once for 1 position. Ultimately he either does not fancy celtic or celtic won't go that high for him at this time. On paper celtic are weaker at striker, stronger at left back and stronger on the wing I would say. Kyogo's replacement has been in the building for 6 months already! His name is Adam Idah. The club knew Kyogo was leaving and part of the reason they went in over the odds for Idah is because they knew that outlay would be softened by the departure of Kyogo. The Board are right not to splash another 12-15m on a player when the 2 players that Brendan has pinpointed for that amount are falling well short of that kind of valuation. Brendan is being told...we backed you with these signings (Idah/Engels), now get on with winning a treble and convincing us that those 2 signings are worth what was paid for them.

On paper, Schlupp is indeed still a good multidirectional player by Scottish Football standards and will add much needed direct running, pace and power to our game. However, a critical component of signing someone in this window is to ensure they are close to match ready in order to hit the ground running. His last full 90 minutes appearance was in Sept 2023. He hasn’t been on a pitch beyond the 17 min mark since last April. He is also not a natural LB and hasn’t played said position more than THREE occasions over the past 4 seasons. It’s actually the position he’s played the very least out of all 5 positions he’s played in. You have to go way back to season 2016/17 to find any regular pattern of him playing LB for Leicester. Considering he’s been brought in to compete/serve as back-up to Taylor (a natural LCM that can’t defend to save himself), we literally have no natural LB in the first team apart from Adam Montgomery - who is technically a B alongside Mitchel Frame. How did we go from having the great fortune of having an excellent Barca LB on loan till the end of season, to him being recalled thanks to Rodgers not playing him, to now replacing him with a 32 year old midfielder that hasn’t kicked a ball for nearly 2 seasons?? Someone please make it make sense! 🤦🏻‍♀️ P.S. Jota is hardly match fit, but a genius like him can get away with it, others can’t!

I’m beginning to suspect nobody has the first idea what goes on at the club, what might and might not be coming in, the progress and processes around all of that. Fans just guess then have discussions as though that guess is not only relevant , but on the money. Naebody has any knowledge. Naebody. But because their guesses didn’t come to pass, they get angry. It’s a bit child-like. I’m happy that the club don’t pay epl fees for players coming to the spl. If the club did the kind of things you hear demanded on channels like this we’d be sevco. We didn’t get a striker….and fans assume that’s 100% Celtics fault. The fans who think our club is anomalous in selling its star striker are losing their mind we didn’t get another clubs star striker. And they don’t even acknowledge the contradiction in that or how ridiculous they come across. Should we have paid £15m for Kvit? Seriously? And are we just assuming we didn’t offer them what they wanted but the player wasn’t interested. Where is the ceiling for fans? £15m for a striker. Then what? £10m for a winger and £10m for a LB? To achieve what? You think that’s enough to take us to a new level in the CL? Really? More logic. Less feels. “We had a chance to establish a level of dominance, winning the title every year, and we haven’t done that” Yer man there actually said that. Out of his mouth. And that’s fkng insane.

The club categorically knew our best striker, Kyogo, wanted to leave in the Summer. His sudden change in agent last May told them that, over and above anything else that we supporters weren’t privy too. If it’s not the board and manager’s responsibility to source an adequate replacement in what has been an 8 month period now, then who’s is it? They are the primary decision-makers and are directly accountable for the club's strategy, direction and success - that remit very much includes the responsibility to make Celtic as lucrative as possible in order to attract and sell the club to prospective players. They have completely failed in this regard once again.

@@leannecampbell4551 I don’t need convincing that our clubs preparedness in transfer windows can be lacking. I can’t disagree. But there are variables that must surely come into consideration when talking about us not getting what we want. It can’t be just “Celtic bad” at every turn. People are aware of the other factors, and acknowledge them, but then proceed to have a conversation that completely removes those factors from the conversation and conclusions. So for example, I’m of the opinion that the higher up the transfer market you go, the harder it gets to get the players you want (unless you’re top end epl throwing epl debt at it) When you operate where sevco operate in the transfer market you can pick up players easy. They are ten a penny, not as wanted as others. They have less lofty ambitions in most cases. So you can get them in. Easy peasy. And that’s not even meant as a dig at sevco. I think that’s just a fair comment on things. But where we operate players are thinner on the ground, wanted by other teams, and wanted by their current team. And they have options. A much tougher environment to compete. You can get easily “Norwich-ed” by clubs thinking it’s reasonable to expect epl fees from an spl club. I think we’d all agree with that. And if we do all agree with it, that’s the kind of thing that should temper our reaction to the clubs transfer activity. But it doesn’t seem to. And, while I’m not ignoring what acsom have said in the comments about their own insight, I’m going to go out on a limb and maintain that most of our fan insight is pure guesswork and our reaction almost entirely driven by those guesses. But that’s fitba, and logic is sidelined by feelings. Understandably. That’s literally what the game is about. I’ve also long argued that we should get players in a window early, from the O’Neill days I’ve argued for that but even that now has difficulties that didn’t exist 20 years ago. Ideally I want players in one summer to be ready for next summer. Preparedness. But if we keep our best for 2 seasons now we’re doing well so that kinda changes that a bit. There’s also this weird spot in which we have to exist as Celtic fans where our club are widely congratulated, including by ourselves, for the success of their transfer model, whilst wrapped in this endless despair of seemingly being god awful at the whole thing. The more I look around at other clubs activity, the more I think we operate just the same as most of them. I’m not pretending I don’t get frustrated with it. I know a lot of this is about the desire to push a little further for the CL, but as I’ve already said, I think we’re now at a point in the CL where further progress requires defensive quality we’ll never be able to attain, in the current market. We can spend £50m on wingers and strikers but you better have the same again for a whole new defensive unit. And we simply don’t. So is it money down a hole at that point? I dunno. it’s a discussion we’ve been having for years innit. Push the boat out, see what we can do, but countered with the view that even using all our resources wouldn’t be enough to take the steps in the CL that are now very big steps. Here’s a great example of acknowledging things but then completely ignoring them in the conversation: they were just talking about tracking the Brondby lad for 18 months…then one of them proceeded to voice their frustration that the club don’t know who they want 6 months in advance. That’s just madness.

Whoo hoo it is good to be a happy clapper Maieda three times the striker of any of the dud's we had lined up in the transfer window Tierney and Jota back yeah we are so much weaker lol it's laughable 😂, Thank god the board has the balls to run a tight ship when all around are shitting their pants as always and can't accept the club is well run and we have a strong squad who are about to hit top gear watch this space some people will never be appeased regardless what they do.

How can people blame the board or Brendan without any working knowledge of what is being done behind the scenes? Judging by Brendan's press conference I see no sign of any problem or that he is hiding anything. I would have liked a striker even a loan, but I don't see any problem. We have games against Bayern and a treble to look forward to until business is done in summer. We also signed Tierney. Knee jerk panic reactions. You can't say anything about Schlupp until he has played for the shirt, all conjecture and assumptions and an excuse to complain. Odsonne can't get a start at Palace, absolute guff analysis. 32 means nothing, Kyogo is 30. I couldn't get through 10 minutes 😅 Calmac will be 32 in a few months, probably should drop him. I love ACSOM, this pod was utter shite. Worst I have seen.

Of course it’s crazy and hard to beat Bayern but not impossible, well Neil Lennon would think he could beat them ? Guys in suits telling the fans we have no chance v Bayern so why bother trying to sign anyone as “the league is done” whilst charging £46 ? … also gambling the treble as last derby was a heavy loss with a stronger squad

Why do our fans constantly assume Lawell had a major say in transfers,we set a budget at the start of the season. Background team identify targets, tries to sign them, then money men get involved, have you seen any news on players failing to agree on money, it would be all over media. We will have to trust the players we have.

Club have told the players job done after lipzig game . This is unacceptable and it’s funny how the excuses they come out with is clubs don’t sell their best players in January 😂 well we did and replaced him with nobody . 3 months ago we all thought wee needed 3 now one is what we have

In what Europe are we ranked as a top 24 club? Don't make stuff up so you are allowed to complain. We dont spend like we are an English League 1 team, we spend like we are the top team in Scotland, which we are. You can only spend what you make, and you can only attract what is interested.

The comment was in relation to Celtic finishing 21st in the Champions League. As for the club’s finances, Celtic are in their best financial health of all time and have the money to buy a player like Mathias Kvistgaarden, who is apparently our top target. So why not buy him? And why only aspire to be the best team in Scotland, which we are already by some distance? Why not attempt to progress on a European level?

@ We have progressed, literally hit our mandated season targets to date - which is progression from last season, where we failed on Europe and the League Cup. We have strengthened our weakest position with Schlupp coming in, and Tierney signed on a pre-contract, and upgraded the quality at LW with Jota. Keep in mind Idah has more goal contributions than Kyogo this season, playing far less minutes than him. You'll need to tell me in what way we haven't improved, as this is our best season in the last 20. People want Celtic to spend money, well we spent more this season than at any point in the clubs history - Also, Man Utd spent £230million this season, and have declined. Spending money is always a gamble - I'd rather stick to our model, which isn't changing for anyone - we are only the most successful club in the history of Scottish Football after all.

We have enough in the squad to see the season out. We wont relinquish our lead in the title, we will most likely win the Scottish cup and as far as the CL is concerned, we are out after the second Bayern game. Our learning curve has increased regarding playing in the C.L.

Apparently Lawwell was down on the big smoke for a charity event. Talking of the value of teams playing with outright number nine strikers. At the weekend I watched Arsenal hammer Man. City 5-1 City were with the world's number one striker and Arsenal had no outright striker. Same at Liverpool. They have a triad of forwards who all contrubute goals. Look at Manchester United and their big burly striker Hoiland whos goal returns are minimal. We will still score more goals than our opponents this season.

Lawrence, we didn't get Tierney in this week, but to say tried brushes aside the fact we signed Tierney, and at same time this shows no ambition for CL. We just qualified for playoffs in the CL and we are playing Bayern Munich. Too many are following the MSM line, that they want you to follow, so they can cause unrest and panic, the sky's falling in, nightmare window, sack the board 🤣 Tierney is not going to play for Arsenal, so he won't get injured. He is fourth choice left back. PJ what evidence? The evidence is there, its easy to create evidence. Anyone can say there is a power struggle at Celtic without any evidence whatsoever, this is called Trumpian. Danny Ings is a class above Kyogo, he's proved that at the highest level and his age means nothing.

Hi JP. I love ACSOM. You and your guests normally talk real sense & wisdom. However, I think you are all over-reacting on this. There is no guarantee that you will always get your targets and there could be many unknown factors. Rodgers said it wasn't to do with money. White lies possibly? I agree Lawwell should not be involved in transfer negotiations. But all of this is total conjecture. All that matters now is getting Jota up to full fitness, Idah, Khun and Maeda to keep up their good performances. January is a tough window. We will do better in the summer. I think we'll go from strength to strength even though we haven't replaced Kyogo. If we can stay relatively injury free, I think we'll see great success. It's highly unlikely we'll get anything from Bayern. Just hope we give them two good games. Keep the faith Bhoys! 🇮🇪🍀💚🏆

But he's looking tired.. It happened with Scott Brown.. Then he kicked back.. I guess I hope Mgregor does that.. Because him gtn that bit slower is starting to show up in bigger games.. I dunno the answer. Give him a rest for a number of games after league is won. He's still been a great captain.and is quality player but every game.
