Nice fix. A battery over 2 years old, I would recommend the customer to replace it (most batteries have a production date). Battery in a completely empty state, you need to wake up the battery with external charging 16V 3A for 15 minutes, after that connect it to the computer and check if it charges. In addition to the repair, you can suggest replacing the hard disk with a faster one.

Fun to see someone noticing this strange laptop I have had trouble free for 11 years! I swapped out the drive for a solid state when I bought it and it is still very perky. Fingers crossed. (I'm backed up and ready for the crash.)

It's such a pity this unique laptop to lag so badly due to the old HDD. Tell the customer I buy it for the price of a SSD or she/he has to upgrade the storage right away 🙂 Kudos Mike for one more clean and fair repair 😉

Could be a bad cable between screen and motherboard. There are more hinges than usual. Perhaps sometimes touch is working and sometimes not. For an experimental laptop it is still working fine after ten years.
