I picked this up last year due to the price ($199 at Staples) and 2ms refresh rate. And you bring up a good point on the blackness. I hadn't really noticed it since I always use it in a well lit room and not to watch movies and always at normal viewing angle. As a PC monitor it works great for the price. But it isn't a good choice for a movie screen.

I have a few questions :) Do you maybe know the difference between G245H G245HQA G245HA? HA has actually no HDMI and has 2ms response time while H and HQ have 5ms response time but have HDMI. The question is what is the real difference between HQ and H series? Same thing is with the Acer H243 Series. There are also H243HA H243HBD and H243HB. Thanks!!!

My Acer x193w+ is ok, I don't think I have the glowing black you speak of, though. It's biggest issue is the flimsy stand and in my case one stuck pixel.

I found a Samsung F2380mx to work perfectly for everything and even gaming if you can tolerate a little ghosting in twitch games ^^. Has a static contrast ratio of 2731:1 when I calibrated

I own an Asus 238h 24 inch 10,000,000:1 1080p monitor...fucking thing is amazing, beats my old Samsung/Sony setup. Hoping to get more to support 3 display for my dual sli 6950's flashed to 6970's.
