LIquid metal is reactive (and electrically conductive so you have to take some precautions). It's only a nono to use with aliuminium though. On copper it will cause significant discoloration but not actually decrease performance so it is considered "fine". Nickel plated copper is the absolute most ideal though as the reaction is very low, causing only mild discoloration that can even be buffed out with just a little scrubbing. I'd say the only real difference is a copper-based heatsink may need a reapplication at some point, maybe 1-2 years down the road since liquid metal permeates a little more and may become slightly more crusty over a long time, while on nickel plated copper it seems to be stable pretty much indefinitely. The GPU difference here seems to be an anomaly. Liquid metal should be performing above kryonaut and close to the same margins as on the CPU. This is likely just due to a less then perfect mount. Laptops have relatively low mounting pressure compared to most desktop coolers and liquid metal is thinner and more fluid so it is much more sensitive to a "less-than-perfect" mount. He probably could have fixed this with a reapplication and using slightly more plus clamping down a little tighter (if possible). It just might not be worth the effort considering the temps are still fine - so all it would really improve is the users OCD =P (and at most a few more Mhz boost clock if lucky).

@@batnasn it might not be you. just a lack of heat pipes. also check the clock speeds, lot of times you reduce the amount of throttling more than you drop temps for a laptop. i have an aero 15x, which also gets too hot. basically nothing thin handles the 8750H well. i replaced the paste with IC graphite and it made very little difference, but i travel for a living and IC graphite is a pad which gives me peace of mind over paste that could leak out the most effective thing i did to drop temps was drop the boost clock from 3.9 to 3.6, that on its own took 10c, .150mv undervolt took it down another 5 or so. also the lower boost helps it cool off faster

I still don't understand why manufacturers use such crap thermal paste. It's not like performance paste is a significant cost. A dollar more when bought in bulk maybe, but surely that must be well worth it for shipping a product that runs faster (due to no throttling), more silent and quieter - because while thermal material might not be a marketable term those other ones definitely are exactly what customers care about. I do exactly the same as this. I re-paste every computer I buy essentially. Often even router equipment ect. Don't always replace pads as the benefit is a lot less for those though + they aren't as easily available often.

Well, I have had this model around 2 years, I have been struggling with high temps, for some time setting CPU offset -0,150mW helped and blowing off the dust out of the fans. Been having 85-90°C sometimes it's been throttling. I have opened laptop yesterday, it's been pretty easy, followed step by step, haven't even used kyronaut paste but some Evolveo which had 13,4W/mK conductivity. Cleaned everything carefully using the plastic tool which came with paste, used ear sticks with a little bit of isopropyl and cleaned everything up to be shiny as a brand-new. (Btw the old CPU/GPU paste was pretty dry and spread everywhere). So yea after finishing re-paste stuff I just took a toothbrush and cleaned the dust out of the fans since even tho you blow air into it it won't take out everything. And after finishing the whole process which took me like 30 minutes (And I have never done it with laptops). During playing instead of 80-90°C I had pretty safe 70-80°C without even fan running on high rpm with GPU CPU running constantly on 70-90%. So I really recommend this if you are struggling with high temps also setting CPU offset via. Throttle stop helps quite a lot.

How to do stress test?
@gulpkraps98214 жыл бұрын
I need help! I had my old thermal paste replaced on my helios 300 1660ti with kryonaut thermal paste and replaced the old thermal pads with an arctic thermal pad and my cpu temp is still hitting 90 degrees celsius, gpu temps hitting 80. I'm so disappointed with the products because it seems like theyre not helping to reduce temps. Is there something that we might be doing wrong? I had it done in a service center because doing it by myself will void warranty. I'm in front of the technician while he's working on it so I'm sure he's not slacking off.

Not sure if you're keeping track of comments on 2 year-old videos, but I was trying to clean the fans and re-paste the CPU and GPU the other day on my Helios 300 G3-571 and when re-attaching the fans, I accidentally plugged the cables in upside-down and started the laptop. I've fixed that mistake, but the fans still won't start. Did I accidentally fry some components in the fans or damage the plugs in some way? Should I simply contact Acer and see if they will repair it? Any help you could give is much appreciated.

Just try to connect in the right way, if they're still working then you're good to go

And the replacement fan comes at a cheap price if you want to replace it by yourself, no need to go to the service station

Will this void your warranty? I'm ordering this laptop and want to know if I need to wait until warranty ends ?
@markpeterson98265 жыл бұрын
No in the US it will not. Under right to repair laws you have the right to modify your electronics, replace components, etc. And it can not void your warranty. I can not speak for countries outside of the US. Laws regarding this vary country to country.
@jg90gt5 жыл бұрын
@@markpeterson9826 this only applies in certain states and mostly to farm equipment. Please check the wikipedia page below. They are trying to pass this law but haven't yet. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronics_right_to_repair

Don't risk it unless you know very well if it's okay. In india you void your warranty as soon as you open the back panel, never mind fiddling with thermal paste

How many "mm" does the thickness of the thermal pad have to be?
@benjamin91204 жыл бұрын
I think in this case he uses 0.5mm think pads, but I think any thickness from 0.5 - 3mm should be fine (maybe with a little difference).
@EpicBunty2 жыл бұрын
@@benjamin9120 no, too thick or too thin can cause issues with heatsink making proper contact with the chips. If u dont know go for around 1-1.5mm to be safe

While repasting idk what happened, my laptop shut down 2 times randomly in few minutes of turning on. Also, gpu is not crossing 55watt instead of 105w it should, due to this, 100% gpu is being used at 30-40fps yeild. Idk where is the issue. I used thermal grizzy krayonaut.

Should I play with fan max or auto?
@admontblanc4 жыл бұрын
Question, I bought the same model about 1 year ago and forgot to do this, the laptop now shuts down, like power goes off even, randomly whenever I play a more resource intensive game, even though the laptop is able to run it smooth. I know this is happening because of overheating since this always happens whenever the temperature rises past a certain treshold for a certain amount of time, which in turn has led me to uninstall a lot of great games I bought due to the laptop suddenly not being able to run them anymore. So, would applying the proper thermal paste, help me, or have I somehow damaged the processor beyond repair?
@suzi9714 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the system automatically shuts down if you hit 100+, if you apply the thermal paste on both (CPU and GPU), clean up the dust inside (especially around the fans), undervolt using XTU. You shall be able to game again with way lower temps, which means not hitting 100C resulting into no system shut down. Give it a try bud, even if you fail due to damaged components, its just gonna cost u around 10 euros. No more (if you do it urself that is). Good luck and tell us how it went mate! Cheers
@admontblanc4 жыл бұрын
@@suzi971 thanks a lot, I will have to learn how to undervolt the cpu but I will give this a try, I just can't promise to let you know how it went because it's hard to dig for old comment on youtube.

I'm really confused I repasted the laptop with the same paste and now while it doesn't thermal throttle, it gets to a higher temper and then holds a higher temp at idle. Like after a game it used to ramp down pretty fast to 40 degrees or so now it holds 60-50 while he fans stay on. Idk how that makes sense. I also held lower 70s during the cpu z test with 4000rpms

It happens mos of the time recently. Pls help

Kingpin thermal paste provides great results and has got good reputation. Prolimatech pk3 is good also but it is a different type of paste and known to be thicker and more difficult to apply. However it would last a long time / you wouldn't need to reapply it in a long long time, it would not dry and it would keep great viscosity and maintain good bonding between your cpu and heat sink. Hope that helps
