Merry Christmas Sorin, first off thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, I absolutely love your videos and I've learnt so much more. I was recently watching one of your repairs (can't remember which one) where you was having trouble finding the power on pin on the keyboard connector so i thought I'd pass on a great tip that I came across from another KZbinr. If you set your multimeter on diode mode and red probe on ground then as soon as the black probe touches the power on pin the laptop should turn on. Hope this is useful and keep up the great work.

Few days back i had dealth with same problem. While the customer applying cpu heatsink past the vcore ic got shorted and it turned into system to dead condition. While checking motherboard i found that there's main 19v shorted and i sorted out the short by removing cpu vcore mosfet but still there is no image on screen. I think the vcore ic is probably faulty or the cpu. Cpu coils show 0homs

So I must be a really lucky miracle worker then since I had that same issue on an Asus TUF F15 laptop and removing the mosfet (by griding it down since it was fused to the board) literally "fixed" it. It had no windows ssd but I could get into the bios with no issue... how can I even explain this?

if you can turn on the bios doesn't mean the CPU is good, only operating system with all tests can verify functionality the whole machine, I had a laptop on the service - ZenBook Pro with defective mosfet, I replaced the mosfet, after that the bios was working fine but Windows won't loading, freezing or blue screen, I finally repaired the laptop by replacing the CPU using BGA rework station.

@igiigiint there is no way to preserve cpu from 19v through high side mosfet... this is why they replaces driver+lowmosfet+highmosfet with drmos on modern pc boards and game cards. Never seen in my life a mosfet becoming more hotter days before it dies. This just happens without any sign of what's happening.

I have an acer nitro 5 laptop I5 9300h Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 I had a blue screen I checked the ram the battery the HDD and SSD but the same problem occurs I sent it to repair shop said it's CPU problem they changed it to i7 9700h but after 4 days the problem came back again the problem I'm in Egypt what could be the problem
