I bought this monitor. Before I bought this one I tried the panda panel from Viewsonic xg2405-2(has the same panel as the AOC 24G2U), but I was not satisfied. So I ordered this one and made a direct comparison(I connected both side by side). In my opinion the Acer is superior. The colors look better, more natural. I was also very fortunate, I had no BLB on the Acer. I was really surprised. The XG2405-2 had several BLB spots. This review made me unsure, if I should order it, but I'm glad I did. Thanks for the detailed review.

You are absolutely correct. I have no idea why I titled it wrong, and yet the Amazon links and my social posts all pointed toward the 'XB253Q' The XB253Q is the variant in the US (144hz FHD IPS), while the XB253QGP is the UK/EU variant that shares the same panel. Indeed, the TN panel is the XB253QP. I've said this about 100x about the naming structure Acer has of its products, namely the monitors - it's absolutely atrocious and leaves much to be desired. I must have just overlooked the model name when uploading the video back in Oct 2020, so thank you very much for pointing it out; it's much appreciated.

Hard to differ between real Backlight Bleed and IPS Glow, thats on EVERY IPS Monitor with strong Matte Coating. And AOC and Acer are using the same AOE Panel...so...under real Lab Mesurements, its a very Color Accurate Display.

Glare (Still a Coating to break incoming light) IPS Monitors as example have low to no Glow. Even expansive IPS Screens like the Eizo CG319X have the Glow..and this Monitor is since (CG31xx) Ages reference for the Industry when it comes to Photo/Video Editing.

@@TotallydubbedHD Yes. But the 24G2U has just 250cd/m^2, the Acer has 400. I was more looking for a monitor which would also be "ok" for movies so more brightness is more important. Why you say the AOC is then better? With 250 you kinda dont see any details in dark areas of movies or games. I have a 400 laptop monitor which is way brither than my current 250 monitor.

This is 'G-Sync compatible' ie. a Freesync monitor with Nvidia certification. So yes, it'll work with FreeSync without issues. Good question though :)

Kudos for Destiny 2 notes. Honestly I am looking for a better monitor than current LG, for mostly gaming D2 , and this one came to my radar. A bit dissapointing that HDR is somewhat average. However, I dont feel like to jump into 1440p, totally ok with 1080p. Already heard tons of good about that AOC monitor, but til now, i was mesmerized with HDR 1080p 24" 144 Hz IPS gaming monitor, like this one. Altogether, what would you suggest for that purpose?

Honestly, I've not come across a single 600 nits+ HDR gaming 1080p monitor; just don't think they exist. If you really want proper HDR, looks like you need to go for 1440p (ie the Samsung)

Thanks so much for this informative video Chris! Im quite undecided when it comes to buying my 144hz 1080p monitor, its between this one for 200€ , the Acer Nitro XF243YP or the TUF Gaming VG249Qor the same price. I would very much appreciate your feedback and opinon on that and the best one between the 3 i mentionned, or if there is a better alternative for under 200 €

Hey I bought the Predator XB253QGP but I cant activate FreeSync in AMD settings, just "adaptive sync" and it is randomly not working in some or most games, going over 144FPS all the time. Any idea why? Should it show "FreeSync" in AMD settings? Are you sure the monitor supports FreeSync?

It should have it, odd that you can't activate it. Tried unplugging and plugging back in to see if it triggers it? Made sure the option is enabled in the OSD?

@@TotallydubbedHD After some google time it seems this monitor actually doesnt support FreeSync at all, just "adaptive sync", which is kinda the "base version" of FreeSync but without certification. There is no "turn freesync" on in the AMD drivers, just "adaptive sync". That is total bummer. It seems to be very buggy, sometimes it just stops working and I have to remove all monitors (I have 3 monitors connected), then reboot windows connect just the Acer, toggle "adaptive sync" back and forth and then it may work, or not. I use latest drivers and a 6900xt. In the osd of the monitor, there is also no word about "freesync" just adaptive sync and it's on.

Go to settings in your ps5 and make sure “performance mode” is favoured over quality mode, that’ll get u 120fps at 1080p
