I was fortunate to buy 2 of these trees. I live in Denton, TX. I tried to buy some more, but it's hard to find. I was able to get 1 seed to germinate and grow. Hopefully, my air propagation will work. If you have the space and you get this tree, it's worth the purchase.

I wonder if it could be crossed with Acer grandidentatum? I live in Utah and the wild Big Tooth Maples in the mountains sure are beautiful. J.F. Schmidt has some nice cultivars of the Big Tooth Maple. I wonder if they could do some trials with Acer skutchii if they had some seeds? They have done nice work with the Norway and Shantung maple hybrids. @jfstrees

I really feel like there should be a pathway for things on the endangered species list to be shared in some way. It's pretty foolish to ban movement of a plant when there are literally people clamoring to breed it and save it. I get the "poacher" or "logging" issue but how would they not have a form to fill out or something to get approval to transplant a couple seedlings or seeds, you know?
