I was vibing with you throughout the reaction - good to see I'm not the only one freaking out while listening to VP :D You got the gist of it in the comments already - Valhalla is basically the hall of the fallen from Norse Mythology (Vikings were not an ethnic group, just a bunch of mercenaries consisting of different Norsemen) where dead warriors continue fighting and feasting till the end of time. J's rap section is particularly on point due to the Norse/Germanic/Old English tradition of battle poetry, he basically gives himself and the rest of the guys a little confidence boost before the fight.

I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction! I think probably most of us looked same way the first time we heard it. As a patron I’ve been listening to it for over a week now and it still stuns me every single time. J was a permanent member from 2017 to 2021 when the Navy recruited him to front one of their bands. I love that they have him returning home in this. He’s been away and now he’s coming back where he belongs. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay. In My Mother Told Me Eli was a beserker. He obviously has recruited the whole group now. Even Cesar was scary. A lot of the tattoos and costuming is from MMTM. The rap is not part of the original. I’m not a big fan of rap but this is stellar. He is so fast that even with subtitles I can’t keep up! Geoff hit a B0 (according to those who know these things) three times. A piano has 88 keys. The two all the way to the left are an A0 & B0. He is singing at the very end of a piano keyboard! You should definitely check out the original, it is brilliant as well. Miracle of Sound apparently writes video game themed pieces. I really like the trio version with Peyton Parrish and Earl Hollaway.

Valhalla is the Viking Warrior's Heaven. If they die in battle/glory that is where they go. The Vikings were probably the inspiration for the Klingons of Star Trek. Ever seen Worf?
