FYI, the prefix "nor" (short for normal) in chemistry means a molecule has had a methyl removed from it. Nor-epinephrine is epinephrine less a methyl. Therefore, converting nor-epinephrine to epinephrine is a matter of adding a methyl. That's the only structural difference. There are many "nor" combos in chemistry, eg testosterone/nortestosterone, opianic acid/nor-opianic acid, etc. In most cases, the molecules will have identical functions. The additional methyl influences the potency of the molecule in unpredictable ways. That is, sometimes the methyl enhances function, and sometimes the methyl interferes with functions. Nevertheless, you can expect the molecules to have the same function, but at different operating levels of effectiveness.

Is that why methyl-amphetamine is more potent than amphetamine?

Funfact: I am a medical cannabis user, and I want to point this out. Too much acetylcholine can cause new blood vessels to form and form tumors that can grow into cancer. The thing I love about cannabinoids and I've been smoking and injesting cannabis for about over a year now and it saved me from nicotine addiction withdrawals and 💊 like stimulants and depressants anti pyschotics etc which I am now proudly off of. One last thing I want to say is THC/CBD Inhibit my Cholergenic system so basically there is proof is slows down acetylcholine and slowing down cancer and tumor formation. 🍃

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis my 4 point urine neurotransmitter results show very low norepinephrine, however it’s not an issue that I can’t produce it, because I can. I can work out with high intensity so lack of norepinephrine is actually not the issue, but I think something is blocking it or suppressing it, particularly at rest. And I think that acetylcholine is blocking my sympathetic system. Would that sound correct? Thanks!
@MedicosisPerfectionalis3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your comment, Stephen. Many ideas may sound great in theory, but clinically they don’t. Example, a patient has swallowed an acidic solution, and then realizing that this is a problem, he decided to ingested a basic solution to neutralize the former. Theoretically, it makes sense, but in the real world, it is harmful. Did you know that low Acetylcholine is associated with dementia (memory loss)? Neurotransmitters are not like chess pieces that we can move and manipulate at ease. The body is insanely complex that it can confound a computer. If I were you, I would first seek to get an accurate diagnosis (not just a blood level) from an excellent physician with experience. Then, I will start looking at treatment options. Good luck to you, Stephen!
@stephensmith43393 жыл бұрын
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis totally understand. Very complex. I’ve had a lot of different tests and they all seem to point to acetylcholine. Maybe the enzyme Acetylcholinesterase is not working correctly. One more question if I may, can BCAA supplementation increase Acetylcholinesterase? Appreciate your responses either way 🙏
