I have also extensively done dry fire with laser cartridges/apps and have recently started training with Ace XR. I find the Ace system far more useful. Here are some of the reasons. Trigger pull and reset. There just isn't another system that I have found that can reasonably simulate rapid fire in dry fire. Shooting double action on every shot is far from single action. Dryfire magazines don't play well with lasers. The Ace handset is the best option I've found to mimic rapid shooting in dry fire. Feedback. The virtual environment gives instant feedback on performance. You don't need to look at another screen or imagine where the shot hit. The hole in the paper is where it is and the plate fell or it didn't. Metrics. You get scores everywhere to measure progress and compare options. You also see where you are in comparison to other users. When I shoot a "perfect" run only to realize I'm 30% slower than others on the drill, I can't pat myself on the back. I have to start digging into where I can find places to save time. "You can't improve what you don't measure." Efficiency. I turn on the headset and the game in the morning and leave it running plugged in all day. When I have 5 or 10 minutes I throw the headset on and run some drills. No time spent setting up targets, loading magazines or even getting a gun out of the safe. All of the practice time is useful and productive. Best money I have ever spent on a shooting training aid (and I've spent a LOT).

I just got into this system. Bought a used quest 2 on eBay and saved a lot. I have a lot of training systems but this much more engaging and helpful. Bottom line: I had fallen off the dry-fire training wagon, but this has me back in a big way.

Great info! I've been splitting my time in dry fire and ACE. Definitely wouldn't recommend ACE as a dry fire replacement. I use dry fire with the Dry Fire Mag and Smart Laser + the Mantis Laser Academy app for draw, presentation, transitions etc and favor ACE for movement, stage planning, visualization, rehearsals and the like. The combo has served me well.

Yeah, ACE is where it’s at for stage planning for sure.

Just subbed to your channel. I’m also trying to grow my channel that really just started as a place to save my training and match videos. I just ordered the Ace. Arrives today, actually. A few of my buddies have it and I finally got a chance to mess with a friend’s. It the short time I trained with it, I could see a huge benefit for training vision speed and transitions which is probably the most critical fundamental of practical shooting sports. I’m very curious to see how I feel about it in a month. I will likely do my own review video once I’ve had time behind it and can share initial thoughts. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.

I think it seems like it might be worth it if my kids were older or I already had a quest. Will prolly not get one yet, especially because the annual price is steep.
@MountainRidgeShooters10 ай бұрын
I don’t think the price is that steep at the moment compared to ammo costs. But I personally don’t see the cost to benefit ratio making sense for me.

Would be good to have a gas blow back system, to simulate recoil, very cool though.

Do you feel this is a good way to learn how to transition into learning how to properly acquire a red dot optic on a pistol? I’ve only ever used irons on my pistols, but am looking to get use to an optic. I’ve heard it’s tough at first. The point I’m trying to make and ask, I do you feel that the presentation of the red dot out in space in the game is very similar to doing the same with the real deal? I was looking to purchase one of the holosun Vulcan pistol optics from primary arms to help with this, but at over 300 dollars, it might be better to just invest in this, and get a non Vulcan pistol optic down the line. What’s your opinion on this fren? The Vulcan style optic has a wider circle outside of the optic window that helps you correct, and line up your sight quicker by the way. It’s also over $100 more than it’s normal version. Thanks in advance, and God bless. P.S. why do you have so few subs. Great content. Edit: I also forgot to ask, how does this thing deal with sweating. I’d like to use it for working out like doing burpees, and other exercises in between stages of the game? Is there a way to clean the parts on it without ruining it? I sweat from my forehead area a lot?

First off, I want to say thank you for the kind words and the whole KZbin channel thing is always a marathon and I just started this channel so we will see if it grows. As for the Vulcan dot, I personally owned one on my carry pistol for about 3-4 months. I was torn on this reticle system to be honest but ended up selling it. I have been exclusively using dots for a few years and the added 200 something MOA ring was "distracting" to me. However, if I was in a true defensive situation... I think it could really benefit you if you were in compromising or uncomfortable positions in finding your dot much faster. Such as one handed shooting around a corner maybe. That is really where the Vulcan reticle shines. Do I think AceXR VR training system could help you in finding a dot faster... yes I do... but for that price it doesn't make sense if that is all you are using it for. At that price you can almost buy 2 Holosun dots. The absolute best way to learn to pick up a dot is to slap it on your actual firearm and dry fire train with it. OR just practice drawing from your holster at something on the wall. The other really important thing I think people miss is to cover the front of the dot. Sounds weird but this truly forces you to use both eyes (trust me it will work). Use something that wont make the glass on the front all sticky and gooey (masking tape, painters tape, etc..) then when you pull the pistol up, while using both eyes, one will see the dot and your other eye will see the target. This is what I do when a friend is having the same issue you are. With a dot it's the opposite of how you shoot irons, irons you focus on the front sight and the target is "blurry", while with a dot you focus on the target and fire when the dot gets there. Having the front of the glass covered up helps you transition to this way of aiming. I hope that info helps

Tried the Vulcan in a match! Might be good for beginner shooters... But I find it VERY VERY DISTRACTING!?! It actually slowed down my target acquisitions, target transitions, etc... In particular shooting from non-conventional positions - the Chevron "changes" depending on orientation; a dot is just a got.

Brass and Lead can be used in the "shop" inside the building. You can use them to buy accessories and unlock new items. I believe you also use brass to do "competition" runs on some stages to be eligible for the leaderboard.

$570!?! C'mon!!! It's more or less one gun or a few boxes of ammo, range time, travel time, etc. Again, if it helps a shooter "motivates" one to train, and as you said the benefit here is "transitions" (which is the where most shooters lose time) - I'd say the initiate outlay is good... Every year is also good... That said, first time it actually tires me. At least the point, I am gripping a "dry fire gun" the same as a live match.
