I love this video. I got a chance to go back to Juba last year for the first time in 10 years and my experience was similar. I relate to the surrealness of it all. One thing I was unexpectedly touched by was being surrounded by the presence of people who look just like me. Did you notice that as well? And I agree, witnessing the wealth disparity in real life was unsettling. It definitely stirred something in me as well.

yess, i think this was the best part - the fact that everyone around me looked just like me and there was a level of freedom bc of that. thank you for watching :)

Beautiful video! I'm Liberian and by the grace of God I was able to visit Liberia again after 23 years in July of 2023. Your video inspires me to share my trip experience, I truly believe that God is bringing the younger diaspora of Africans back to the motherland as a testimony of His goodness, for His glory and honor and for us to give back to our people with the resources that God has blessed us with. I pray that as we get older we can visit the motherland often to help our people and advance the Kingdom of God

you literally described how I'm feeling recently !! I've been trying to learn Dinka lately because I have a little personal passion project to go back to South Sudan with my parents and help out with what I majored in at school, which is hospital equipment and repair. It's a niche field in America (and in big demand) but it feels so wrong to use my degree here and live out my days with a good paying job when I have relatives my age who didn't even finish high school because of lack of funds, so I'm planning to learn as much as I can here in the field and get credentials to train people then dip lol. I get so heated when I think about the disparity in wealth and the lack of opportunities when it's such an abundant and rich land. I wish a whole bunch of ss youth, some post college, could back home and use the skills we learned in America to help out, I think we could really help not just our own family but maybe even more people in ss. I feel awful that I get to sit here comfortable and my cousins have to sleep in terrible conditions, I wanna go back and help so bad lol I wish I was rich so I could just hand out money to everyone smh

the way i LOVE this video so much??😭 like every aspect of it makes me miss village life in nigeria. i was fortunate enough to have been born there/live there for 5ish years, but also travel home every Christmas afterwards. but because of c*vid i haven’t been back since 2019-2020 but the relatability between our village life is OFF the charts, from the : - goat (my grandpa had a goat pen & i turned them into my pets, b4 they were made to be food😭) - using a stick to get fruits from the tree - THE FLIES?? - the roads (doesn’t help when the car is hella crammed 😭) - not knowing the full language - prayer into the new years i can’t wait to go back this year, but its a shame that both of our governments are letting down our countries 🇳🇬❤️🇸🇸

This is beautiful Achan!!! When y’all touched those leaves that fold, it reminded me of exactly what I used to do as a child when I’d see them in my home country Cameroon. My family & I left Cameroon in 2011 when I was 7, and have been in the US ever since. Now I’m 21 and I yearn to go back and see my family. Thank you, Achan, for showing the world about what we really are as a country. What you depicted is the convincing truth about our country, and we are proud of it, there is no place in this world that is still like that with all the natural beauty and the heritage. Everything about the video is touching and extraordinary. Keep on coming back to your home country every time you get a chance. It climaxes the love and sense of belonging to your community, It also inspires your fellow friends who are in the west. South Sudan to the world, love you, my sister ❤️

I love the story, and I encourage you to do the same next time if you got a chance, I wouldn’t ask you to do more than bringing on the similar stories which I believe can change narrative about what our generation can do to contribute enough and make our country better place and more livable, we’re unlucky to have a corrupt government but I believe that can’t deter our contributions for the homeland.
