Anupama madam is perfection embodied.I have been a great fan since I heard her years back.The tabla maestro accompanying her with this piece is also unparalleled.The strokes are measured,adjusted to the mode and are really 'accompanying'in spirit as really aware of his limits and freedom often reminding Sanjay Mukhopadhyay.So grateful to be able to listen to.

The way in which her son is playing mini tanpura is so cute 😊❤
Anupama ji you are rapid fire in Sitar - please make it sure your tabla player must get fingers’ massage after your performance as it is not easy for him to keep pace with your speedy notes.

She's a gifted musician! However, every sitarist worthy of their sitar, has to be in some ways influenced by the great maestro Nikhil Banerjee!
@rajibmoitra28374 жыл бұрын
@@harihegde6364 Nikhil Babu himself was influenced by Vilayat Khan snd adopted his Gayaki Ang All are greats but Vilayat Khan remains the GOD of Sitar

@Dr Saikat Chowdhury Yes I agree with you. I only wanted to say that Mr Hegde's comment was every sitarist has to be influenced by Nikhil Banerjee to which I feel that sitarists of all gharanas are influenced by Vilayat Khan. However this is personal matter. Just before ending I would like to share an incident with you. In early seventies in my school days I had the great fortune of attending Nikhil Babus live programme but it was a private baithak arranged in famous Sitar maker Hiren Roys residence in the roof. That night Panditji played Sohini. At one time he played a very fast tan. We all appreciated by clapping and a listener said " Nikhilda ei tan akmatro apni bajan ar keu bajay na." Nukhil Babu was playing with full concentration. After hearing this he put down his sitar and smiled and said " Na bhai Bilayet khan saheber moton tan keu bajate parbe na. uni setarke onar hater posha pakhi baniye phelechen." Even nearly after 50 years the words still ring in my ears.

@@rajibmoitra2837 Can you please translate these words into English for people like me who can't understand Bengali?
@rajibmoitra28374 жыл бұрын
@@bhavyakumarsaini1639 Yes Sir I will do it for you. On being complimented by a listener that nobody could play a tan better than him Nikhil Banerjee replied " No Brother nobody can play Tans better than Vilayat Khan Saheb." The next sentence he said you can say is metaphor or proverb which translated literally means that Vilayat Khan had such supreme control over the instrument Sitar that he could do anything with it just as if you have a pet bird and whatever you order the pet it will follow you.

@@meusha846 First off there is nothing pedestrian about the Tanpura. The strings of the Tanpura have to be precisely tuned based on the Raga that is being performed. That kind of tuning is not simple in itself as one has to take care of the srutis which cannot be reproduced on a standard piano keyboard. Thereafter one has to get the accurate 'jawari' which enables the strings to produce all the desired tones suitable to the Raga. A precisely tuned Tanpura with the proper jawari has to be plucked in accordance with the style of the music being performed (you can read up on Hindustani vs Carnatic plucking.) Most importantly, the drone produced by the Tanpura is not remotely connected with the chords of Western music. Indian music does NOT have chords.

Regarding the importance of tanpura. It has to be tuned perfectly to match. Also, many artists take pride over the fact that senior artists used to visit them in green room be4 performance to tune their tanpura.
