Acheron wasn't even consciously doing anything, she reacted completely normally in the dance from start to finish. Didn't even remember who the annihilation gang were until after she left, so it ain't retaliation to cover a touchy subject. Black Swan was that traumatized just seeing into her mind alone.

Oh good catch, I saw that but didn't quite put it together. Focused on (cough) other things...... Anyway, I'm wondering if Acheron is an emanator of Nihility, since Nihility seems so be a path that focuses on fading could that be the reason Acheron doesn't remember or is forgetful, her memories are constantly fading away and being lost. The start was quite interesting but wow Black Swan had a wake up call. 'I'm just going to peek in her memories, should be fine.' Has an existential crisis, nearly being obliterated in Acheron's memories.

I will just point out, but Acheron did not consciously do anything to Black Swan. Acheron's memories seem to essentially be like a mine field, overfilled with mines. And Black Swan seems to have stepped on many of them. Essentially, Black Swan accidently tortured herself. Acheron just happened to be the tool she used. In other words, this is what happens when Acheron DOESN'T notice you. When she ISN'T feeling the need to hunt. This was literally, the least that could have happened.

Well, it's par for the course with Nihility. IX doesn't actively do anything as it's just a blob of nothingness. But everything that approaches it gets devoured by the abyss. That sequence of animals chasing down prey seems to be alluding to the black hole being an apex predator that cannot be escaped once you are in their sights.

I also note, Acheron never looked like she was enjoying herself, her facial expression was emotionless from start to end. Black Swan just straight up bit off more then she could chew by delving into her memories, and Acheron's memories were too traumatic that Black Swan tried to flee. It actually reminds me of what happened in the SU when we encounter IX and it instantly kills us, Black Swan tried to flee because even interacting with her memories was too dangerous.

@@zeru5195 It honestly seemed to me like it was a neutral to positive experience to her. With the notable exception of when Black Swan would get a little too pushy for her liking, and she would gently, but continuously more firmly, pull back. Sort of like when you decide to do something cause you're bored, but find that what you decided to do was actually a kind of fun. And then there was Black Swan. Whom was getting a first hand lesson on the fact that nigh-invulnerability is not, in fact, invulnerability.

Acheron didn’t torture Black Swan. At least… not intentionally. What happened was that BS dived into Acheron’s mind in search of answers, and very nearly strolled past the event horizon of a black hole. At first, it was the incredible danger and violence of Acheron’s past. The sheer amount of death staining her mind and memories was dangerous to BS, and slowly dragged her deeper into Acheron, hunting her down and seizing her in a tight grip that wouldn’t let go no matter how much she tried to pull back. From hunter to hunted in an instant. But eventually, she was pulled too deep. That _thing_ in the depths of Acheron’s head actively dragged BS towards it, ripping her thoughtform apart like a real black hole does to matter. No wonder Acheron’s forgetful, if she has _that_ inside her head. I get the feeling Miss Memokeeper escaped that encounter by the skin of her teeth, pulling out of the dive just before the point of no return.

@@SnKanon Acheron is absolutely head empty, no thoughts. Thing is, it's kind of that there's not _allowed_ to be any thoughts in there. Black Swan found that out for sure. Acheron thinks the lady looked a bit weird at the end, but it was a very nice dance, even if she was a little too touchy-feely. Wonder why she wanted to know about those guys though? ...probably nothing.

The beginning of the memory was literally acheron “skinning” a swan mixed into dance moves. Black swan tries to escape by running and shapeshifting, and you see acheron just slap the two bird away like child’s play. At the end, the skeleton of the swan is just the symbol that she is done torturing. This is sick

I think it's really sad because Acheron doesn't seem like she wants to be this way. They say the first thing the Nihility takes from you is your memories... And what's the worst thing about Acheron? She forgets everything that is important. On two separate streams the devs have metioned Acheron as a Galaxy Ranger "Following the Path of the Hunt." Even in the story, she acts as though she's of the Hunt. Something terrible happened to her... I mean TO her, as in she's a victim, not a horribly cold woman.

The visual story telling is brilliant here. Black Swan wanted a dance to learn of Acheron's memories. But when BS started to poke too deep into them, she was overwhelmed to the point of mental torture by the horrors in Acheron's memories. At least, that is how I see it. The imagery of the various animal predators is brilliant too. BS went from the hunter, to the hunted. The dance leader to the dance follower. And to top it all off, Acheron already has a bad memory, so combine that with Duke Inferno likely being no challenge for her, and yeah she doesn't remember them.

BS tapped into her memory, sees nothing but death, and since Archeon is cold and emotionless, all BS experienced in those memory are the pain and suffering of those poor souls slain by Archeon's blade, one after another after another, BS tries to get out, but Archeon are like...." you came in without been invited, now you want out? Not until I said so woman... ", then showed she was slowly been consumed by IX, luckily Archeon didn't see her behavior as hostile so she let her go in the end, but surely BS has PTSD after all that.

I'm thinking that Acheron was not really aware of Black Swan looking inside her mind. With referrence to the lore, I'm sure Acheron belongs to a classification of followers/path striders called the "self-annhilators" that follow IX the Nihility. Something tragic must've happened in her past. That tragedy most likely caused her to reject existence, to the point that IX bestowed her the ability to harness power from the path of Nihility as one of its emanators. Her self-destruction manifests itself as her constantly having little to no memories so often. She probably only remembers them when she taps into the Nihility. Black Swan was probably brutalized by Acheron's inner-self that is directly connected to IX.

The only problem with this is that IX shouldn’t have any interest in granting them the ability to harness power from the path of nihility. The path itself is most probably not even IX’s doing according to Dr.Primitive, but the self-annihilators themselves, who aren’t exactly followers of IX, rather careless victims. To IX doing anything is meaningless so they do nothing but exist, so it sounds really weird for them to make someone their emanator. Acheron could be a self-annihilator, but emanator of which aeon is quite unclear

@@cortesyes Not quite weird though. Paths can never be closed. I'm sure Aeons are not capable of truly hindering anyone from getting close to the paths they govern. Also, IX has been shown to acknowledge people who are capable of getting close to it while managing to maintain their existence and reasoning. Not entirely unusual for Aeons who are obsessed with enforcing their paths to choose individuals with whom they can spread the influence of their paths directly. Also, Nihility cannot exist if there is a true lack of ideal/purpose/motivation. An absence of those things is oblivion. IX is close to being nothing. But it can never be nothing. The path of Nihility wouldn't even exist if there was absolute oblivion of thought.

IX doesn’t lack thought, their whole reasoning is that doing anything is worthless since everything is destined to nothingness, so they in fact do nothing. They don’t interact with other Aeons, they don’t choose emanators, they are just there waiting for the end

While it wasn't discussed in this reaction, I find the description of the animated short so fascinating. It describes what might be our next planet after Penacony: "Space Japan" In the livestream they mentioned that Acheron will be very important to upcoming content, so she might play a similar role to Kazuha from Genshin, who was our introduction/early preview to Inazuma. As for the world itself: It seems to be a dual world separated between the land of humans and the land of gods (Kami). The word Takamagahara is from the Shinto religion of Japan, it refers to the realm in which the shinto gods reside. (If you watched the anime Noragami, this is the place they travel to in season 2) There is also a MASSIVE reference to Honkai Impact 3rd. Specifically to the previous era. The people of Izumo faced multiple Kami that arrived from Takamagahara and brought destruction. The first of which was called Sovereign of Revelation. This name is really interesting because, it is possible to translate Sovereign to Herrscher in german. So their first divine enemy was the "Herrscher of Revelation" mirroring the Herrscher of Reason in the previous era. After defeating it, they forged an Edict Edge out of its corpse, mirroring how the PE forged divine keys out of the bodies of slayed Herrschers. They also mention that they made 12 of these divine weapons indicating that they most likely fought 12 Sovereigns/Kami. After this however, both the human realm (Izumo) and the divine realm (Takamagahara) disappeared. Doesn't this sound familiar for HI3 players? What it seems to me is that there might have been an "embrace" where a higher power attempted to make Kami and Humans live alongside each other, but it ended in failure and at the end the whole experiment was "destroyed". Is the black sun / black hole thing a Finality like entity running an experiment/embrace? As to how we could go to this planet: They did not confirmed if it was destroyed or not, instead it was stated that they disappeared. It is not impossible to think that these worlds (Izumo and Takama) have sunk into the Sea of Quanta and thus making them "disappear from the proper world".

yeah this is Black Swan in her comfort zone, looking into people's memories, and something in Acheron's past looks back at her for probably the first time ever and she's absolutely terrified of it. I'm convinced that whatever Acheron's other form is, the red and black one, that's what took Duke Inferno out. I can't tell if that was a purposeful thing or if she accidentally let it out or what, maybe she just needed a ticket and they were the closest targets. also Acheron re-established her dominance hard by the end of the dance lmaoo

@@SaraGon15 Emanator of Nihility or not (I lean towards not but that's neither here nor there) she 100% didn't see IX. Either the black hole would've been IX (which it isn't) or the entire section itself would've been an embodiment of IX, which is DEFINITELY isn't because Swan would likely be straight up dead or at the very least in worse condition than limp in Acheron's arms.

After 2.0, I theorized that Acheron maybe the Emanator of either Finality, Hunt or Nihility with Nihility being the lowest possibility, only in the list due to the path of her gameplay and her personality. This video made me reconsider the probability that she might actually be the Emanator of Nihility being higher than expected, which begs the question of how do you become an Emanator of a god that doesn't care about anything?

Probably both Hunt and Nihility. As it's likely that Acheron was in fact Galaxy Ranger fed to Ix by Dr.Primitive. As for what allowed her to survive while others didn't... before we (and Black Swan) see Ix in Acherons mind there is a very good representation of Hunt path. So Acheron being Emanator of Hunt switching to Nihility just makes sense.

@@al103 for all we know she dont even is a Galaxy Ranger and maybe is lying about that and she is just seeking vengeanze, remember everyone in penacony might be liars, and while she can be an emanator of Nihility she can follow the path of the hunt, kinda like Fu Xuan, she believes in preservation while Nous was the one who "helped her , and follows the hunt way like most in Luofu.

Acheron was made very sus, "nah, she's totally not Galaxy Ranger", "nah, she's totally not Galaxy Ranger", "NAH, SHE'S TOTALLY NOT GALAXY RANGER!!!!"... only when you consider hints given in Galaxy Rangers express file, fresh Emanator blurb and what BS dig from Acheron's memories it becomes very likely that she's in fact one and one of most sus persons on Penacony was actually 99% straight in her dealings. Yeah, maybe they'll play it differently, but so far such thing feels very Hoyo.

@@al103 i mean first of all why was she there since she didnt receive the letter directly, she probably took it from someone else and with this animation probably from the Duke Inferno lol, is kinda Sus all her movements in there, just appearing out of nowhere in some moments (getting lost) but in key parts with us etc.

What if Archeron was actually Dr.MEI. At 2:02, you can see a soldier lying on the ground, pointing a gun(?) at her, maybe that was Kevin. That's why I said Archeron gives me both Raiden Mei and finality Kevin.

Canonicaly black swan is an emanator of Fuli, from the garden of rememberance so she doesn't have a physic apparence. She use memories to take a human form. And Acheron is an emanator of IX's path which believe that existence is meaningless so it don't have to existe. So nihility's emanator ( by the influence of IX ) don't have memories because IX erased them. So when Black swan look into acheron's memories, she saw something that wasn't supose to be found. She wanted to go back but IX does'nt see diference between Acheron's memories and black swan so i wanted to ereased her and Black swan was trapped into acheron minds ( like the symbolism of predator haunting their prey or the venus fly trap and at the end, the black hole in where she mostly desapear ) So yeah Black swan have almost been ereased/ killed by Acheron... Ps : sorry guys i'm french so my english may suck

My guess is Acheron has something else inside of her. Kind of like how Mei had HoT insider her for a long time. Perhaps that was Acheron's Emanator side she saw.

I love the dance choreography in the animation. You can tell that acheron was always the more passive one, letting black swan lead the dance. bs laid hands on acheron's body a lot more, while acheron sometimes let her arms loose. She even pulled back and disengaged at some points like when bs went to kiss her hand (and extracted some memories along the way, signified by the starry glow coming out of acheron's skin), that was until the trigger and the role reversed dramatically. A cool detail toward the end of the red sequence was when black swan got sucked into the black hole and fragmented at 3:58. It's like red-shift, the doppler effect that happens as you travel close to the speed of light. And yeah, after seeing her animations in combat and in the trailer, acheron seems much more likely to be emanator of nihility now (no spoilers pls).

Alot of people are missing it. When she asks, "What have you done?" It's not Acheron in the present that asks, it's her switched version in the past. "Excuse me.. Are you asking me?" As if to clarify which version of Acheron is Black Swan asking. Implying they have seperate memories to some degree. Also, it's implied she is somewhat affiliated with Aeon of Finality and that Aeon, in paticular, travels backwards through time.

DAMN I was going more in depth with the animations at the part after Black Swan peeked into her memory and that is literally just a snake hunting a swan, and that last flashing image is a de-feathered, chowed down to just bones swan like DAMN the impact frames like part are so damn awesome, the whole animation so so well choreographed sometimes you don't need to get into someone's past to know someone, i trust in acheron :) Mihoyo really ocoked

So sensual and intimate during the dance, makes you feel like you are intruding upon something personal, something you're not supposed to, then the tone takes such a dark shift, making you wonder, in reality, who this "Galaxy Ranger" really is , what is her story is, only to be brutally taken apart for delving a little too deep into her past for her liking. As the saying goes, stare into the Abyss for too long, and the Abyss stares back, and Black Swan just got first hand experience on that. The predator, turned to prey.

just a second personality inside. Black swan was digging too much and encountered that, even she is just in form of memories, still, hunted who is trying to hunt.
