I absolutely love the music, and all of the art seen during the credits of this version. I also find Linus’s realization of him being the third wheel harlarious. I also love how this version shows that Samson truly does care about Linus at the end.

In an alternate universe: - Henry and the Baron’s daughter (Katrina Von Kapital) are lovers - Linus doesn’t “Actually” die - Samson and Linus become friends in the end - Samson doesn’t get decommissioned, and in fact gets a separate “Express” railway - Linus doesn’t enjoy personally seeing Henry get all sappy with the Baron’s daughter - Excavators are alive like Linus and Samson - Samson get’s extra screen time - Samson’s eyes are like Linus’s and not small orange eyes on the top.

5:32 I look at that picture, and I can imagine Jim Cummings lending one of his voices to Samson. I'm thinking either Pete from, "Goof Troop", or Lucky Piquel from, "Bonkers". Which is fitting, as both shows are Disney properties. Or, another ideal casting would be either Frank Welker or Peter Cullen, who both voiced a character on the 1991 animated adaptation of, "The Little Engine That Could". Both characters were locomotives too.

All are amazing voice actors, and fortunately still with us! Although I always imagined this short as a pantomime story in the vein of "Susie the Little Blue Coupe" and "Little Toot", classic Disney voice actors like Thurl Ravenscroft and Candy Candido would be at the top of my list.

I would've probably liked a combination of the original vs the final product specifically the interactions of Linus and Samson. Though worth noting the part where Linus almost goes to train heaven would be kepted cause technically he exploded. Also this gives lore to the logging engines. They used to have tenders but it seems they were removed for whatever reason for logging
