Dark Souls is an infamously difficult game, but the Achievement Hunter community decided it wasn't hard enough. They submitted this evil challenge: beat the first boss without healing and only use the weapon you start the game with, a broken sword.

Yeah Michael, you kill the Asylum Demon here, but when you come back to Undead Asylum later the floor breaks under you and you fight the Stray Demon! You can see the Stray Demon pacing around when you first leave the cell at the very beginning but cant get to it until you come back!

I know Matt & Mikey did a things to do a long while ago where they killed a Lothric Knight in the first area of DS3 and got all its gear, then killed it, kicked its body somewhere hidden, dressed up as it, then let themselves get invaded & walked along on what its path was the invader bumped into & ran past them so many times before finding the knight's body & realized, it was hilarious

Alfredo got into Dark Souls III, played through it on stream which eventually led to Michael doing the same. Michael has since played through most From Soft games. So they're far more experienced and have more enjoyment in it than Micheal once had in rage quit many years ago

Man, I feel Fredo on the 'trauma' effect. That's why it's taken me so long to burn through Nioh 2. I just get one bad day and the idea of going back just chills me. Always do eventually, though. One day. Also this was fun, even if I agreed with Michael that it wasn't happening. The attempts were neat, though, and the banter was great.

when i killed him before going through the rest of the area i ended up using my fist because i hit faster and it took less stamina to swing, it took me hours as well and i have poured at least 2 years worth of hours into the dark souls series and thats not even a joke, i also forgot to mention that locking on makes it more difficult because it takes away omnidirectional rolling, meaning you can only roll in 4 directions

The fist is the way, 'cause not only does it do the same amount of damage, but you can use the sword as a shield (Not that rolling isn't better 'cause no damage vs chip damage but still)

so, for those who're interested, the way you actually kill the asylum demon on the first try is by taking the black firebomb gift and hitting him with all 5 for massive damage.

The controller issues reminded me of my first playthrough of 'Dark Souls 2' on PS3. I had a controller where you could swap the left analogue stick & dpad to 360 config. I got about 2/3 of the way through the game, then the controller started doing phantom presses and would swap between equipped weapons. I kept with it for a while, as I found it funny, but I think I eventually had to unequip my secondary weapon.

Another Dark Souls Challenge that would be good: Beating the Dancer of the Boreal Valley in Dark Souls 3 before killing 3 bosses. Specifically you can kill Vordt to get his bonfire for convenience, but then you got to go kill Emma, who's up in Lorthric Castle, and who normally gives you the banner to teleport out of that area after Vordt. Killing her summons the Dancer.

The video Matt was mentioning where someone did the challenge in 7 mins was sped up. He probably just saw the duration of the vid then skipped to the end to see if the challenge was done. But Michael was right, this challenge is a 20 minute run at the minimum.

@@calebnelson4932 Yeah, but he recently got into the FromSoft games. I mean like really dug into them. A while back I went in deep and platinumed all the souls/bourne/sekiro series, just the single player stuff. It was one of the best times I had gaming. Very satisfying. This is going to sound crazy to you. I love Michael, he’s one of my favorite members here, but I hate Rage Quit. It’s funny when he yells and gets frustrated but it’s too much for me to just yell constantly at a screen. I do enjoy him yelling at Gavin in Play Pals though! Lol.

to everyone here curious about that controller thing you saw here.... microsoft has had problems with their controllers syncing for decades ( i can reproduce that on a 360 wireless from 15 years ago right now) but its gone from being an extremely niche thing that almost never happens to it being in your face aggressively at any given moment in maybe half of the videogames in your collection most likely.... this game, skul the hero slayer, mech warrior 5, rebel galaxy, and hollow knight are the most recent ones ive seen so far ( the hollow knight one is especially toxic cuz it happens in the first boss fight with 100% occurrence) the only solution so far is to completely purge your controller from the console and or pc bluetooth via " forget device" and sometimes even purging all the freaking drivers on the controller, this is only a temporary solution cuz it will keep happening, and most likely this issue does not occur on android or mac since mac made sure bluetooth technology is actually working correctly and android "sort of" got it right but it like microsoft tech really loves to mess with its users on how seamless connections are supposed to work. This issue is also why products like the roli cant take off on pc, u need a wired connection in order to use the equipment as intended on this platform and it messed up sales a lot. here's the saddest part...I have been desperately trying for 3 weeks now to get microsofts attention on this, they ignore tweets, they shut down customer support during covid, their " request a call" feature either drops ur call or they hang up on you when you try to report this one. organizations like bestbuy also dont know what to do cuz they all use the same truly awful customer support policies / garbage disgusting tech that was never tested and walmart for fl is a real tragedy cuz they cant even print out return labels if you go about the path of calling it defective. cuz lets face it, this is defective if we want this issue solved, its gonna take a group like rooster teeth harassing their Microsoft pr connection or possibly from youtube before a dev might see this issue as something serious since they also have locked down every single thread any time someone was reporting a problem but didnt know how to test this and see that the controller is fine but their software was the part that was defective beyond recognition. in short, the controller is fine.... the bluetooth / wireless support has been ran by idiots for almost 20 years ( also the dongle thats 20 bucks? it doesnt solve the problem... it *helps* but as you heard them say " is it the dongle, idk" it doesnt remove the problem..... it also used to be free)

There is a streamer who heard a lot of memes about dark souls difficulty so she thought you had to kill the asylum demon on first encounter. She died to an enemy after since she was low and it caused a glitch where the front doors to the asylum unlock early. She left the asylum without the estus flask, and got to and beat taurus without a flask before her freind turned into the stream and freaked out that she was playing like that

6:40 welp, at least Michael is smart enough to one hand the sword since it has null scaling and does literally the same damage but with more stamina cost and slower if you use both hands, it would be supremely stupid for anyone to continue using both... nevermind >_>

Technically you can fight the same boss and they same conditions in Dark Souls 3 in farron keep but in 3 he is a mini boss

I do this at the start of every playthrough (Same as bare handing the blood beast at the start of BB) But there's a reason for it for me it's because by the time I bang my head into this wall enough times to beat it I've got enough skill back to actually progress so it's essentially how I shake off rust
