Oh goodness that knee in and out thing is so helpful to know. I've been trying to do bubbles but I've been so focused on getting my feet to do it (and not fall in the process) rather than how my body should be to achieve that movement. I should have watched this video first 😂 I'm a beginner so i started with my new skates in the rink. Was so happy, i could do bubbles and almost the scissor thing... But I wanna skate outside. Yesterday rink was over crowded so i decide to try a parking lot. I couldn't do anything (terrified of new terrain but my skates didn't respond). I've decided to see what would happen if i loosen the trucks. I was still terrified so i did move too far from the car but at least my skates are responding now! After doing this i was wondering if they were not too loose, apparently not with your video but i have the feeling I'm gonna have to learn stuff all over again 😂 in the rink (unless it works even better now) ... I also do have a hard boot. I understand why it wasn't working now. Thanks so much!!!!
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad this has helped. You’ll know if they’re too loose as you’ll struggle to control the skates. Sounds like you’ve got it just right but if you’re not sure give it a try just tightening then a 1/4 turn and see how it feels. Have fun on your skating journey xx
@AB-zm4mj2 жыл бұрын
@@Skatie it feels like it's loose a lot but i don't think it is cause i only turn them twice and it was a quarter of turn, or half of turn each time so it couldn't have been more than a full turn... My wheels are "supposed" to be for inside and out (i forgot the hardness) but they are definitely grabbing the road... I don't know what to do though, I'm terrified outside. Was so happy to see progress in the rink and now it's like learning all over again when i just started 😭😭😭 Why when you are a kid you can go inside and out ok, but you learn skating again and it doesn't work that way... I do hope loosen up the trucks did help (i couldn't practice much as i had to leave that place that day) cause if it doesn't make it easier i have no idea what to do to make me progress

Think of the trucks like your steering, if once you’ve loosened the truck you’re still not getting much movement you may need to change the cushions. For example, Moxi beach bunnies ship with very hard cushions.

Is there something wrong with the skates if they make weird noises? (in other words , stiff and isn't smooth)
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
Could be. Check the wheels are rolling freely. If not you can try loosening the axel nut just a little. Or remove the bearings and check them individually to make sure they all roll ok. Also check the trucks aren’t too loose etc. I have a video on skate anatomy which might help.

I'm a beginner skater and to start i've bought some cheap skates, just to be sure I could skate without bothering my grumpy ankle. I found out that if I make them loose whenever I put them down on the ground, I feel like they are not all one piece, but the wheels and the skate have two different moment of "landing". I'm Sorry if that makes no sense, i'm not english 😂 Is It normal? Maybe I've made them too loose? Or is it because they are cheap? Thank you so much, I'm learning thanks to you!
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
I think I understand. It could be they are too loose. I’d you can move the trucks with your hands I’d recommend to tighten them. Is the truck moving in the pivot cup perhaps?

Skates often arrive quite tight from the factory. Also make sure your wheels are rolling freely. If they’re not just loosen the wheel nut a little bit. Make sure they’re not so loose that the wheel moves up and down the axel.
