Its not just the Damageless run. Look at that Time as a non SM Runner and trying to avoid all attacks but still a Time under 2 hours. I think thats what really is impressive

yeah that strat is pretty consistent, if you morph before entering the room the enemy will always go over you so its not that bad. I used to just enter and spam missles hoping it would kill which it wasnt consistent

Sadly Oats has no interest in the category based on what i've been told, hopefully Zoasty takes an interest in this but the early grind where you have to reset over and over against Ridley 1 is the main reason nobody really has wanted to try it out and honestly i dont blame them. It wasnt until the day i got the run that i had to have the patience to be on that boss for a good amount of tries, like i would only have 2 succcesful attempts out of Ridley 1. Thanks to EDs efforts its doable but not enough to convince the speedrun community to attempt it. If someone finds a better title setup that guarantees the fight you want then maybe it might change things.

Thank you, I'd say i was the most nervous when fighting Ridley 2 but managed to calm myself a bit mid fight, after that baby skip made me nervous a bit but once i was out i felt calm enough to do the rest and not be afraid or overthink situations

@@heyblasty8614 Ridley is probably the toughest boss in the game normally (Aside from Draygon in cases like these where you don't have Grapple for a quick kill, albeit since he has a fairly consistent pattern, the only danger is a Power Bomb not clearing out his mucus.)

@@Roebloz Yeah Ridley 2 was a big wall, as a matter of a fact out of the 4 times i managed to get to Ridley 2 damageless this run was the first time i got passed Ridley 2 without taking damage and thankfully enough I succeeded on the rest because i didnt had a high enough consistency on Tourian, so im glad it worked out in the end. Second or equally as hard was Phantoon, the majority of my runs ended on Phantoon (Probably lke 80% of my attempts that got passed the first Ridley died at Phantoon) At this point i figured out Draygon well so the boss didnt pose a threat, i'd say once i changed strats from what i originally had the fight became highly consistent. I deliberately get Dragon on screen early to force mucus sooner so when the power bomb does it's job it takes away most of them as im shooting missiles, if i see a mucus going towards me i just roll away.

@@heyblasty8614 anytime man. Everyone in the SM community is pretty welcoming, and love a good challenge like this. Personally I do any% runs so it was cool to see a different take on it. I remember thinking man, phantoon is gonna be a nightmare with the flames haha

@@P1xelPerfect Oh yeah, took me a good amount to learn all 4 flame patterns on top of all of Phantoon's eye opening positions, I even learned that there's 6 more positions in phase 2 if you pause before the boss appears which is why i went from doing x-factor first phase to doing it on second phase. Pretty cool that you speedrun this game, SM speedruns are sick, got a lot of respect for you guys, i've been a long time watcher, I attempted to speedrun this game once but the furthest i got was doing Alcatraz Escape. As a matter of a fact if you check my first upload on this channel it shows me doing another version of it and that's pretty much where i quit. Pretty funny how i come back 4 years later and do this, gave it the same treatment i did to Celeste.

I take it steam vents and debris don't count as a hit. Watching you in the mother brain room showed me how hard this really is. Every speed running tactic is virtually out the window as you can't shine spark or d boost. Totally different challenge. Well done!

yeah the environment doesnt count as a hit unless it does damage because that would invalidate the damageless category. Im doing both hitless and damageless so there's things that affect one that doesnt affect the other. Shine sparking affects damageless but not hitless since it's self-damage. Since i was going for both then some pretty neat strats are out of the window. Thanks, much appreciated.

Where shinesparks are allowed but draining damage from other sources is not, because I assume hitless also means you can take damage from acid and heat damage over time before you get the varia suit, due to it not being a 'hit'. Basically, what I'm trying to say is. I find certain speedrun categories tiresome and extremely boring. Especially when it comes to credit warping. Anyways, this kind of run, in my opinion is much more fun to watch, at least for me. I like stylish gameplay over fast gameplay. It's the rule of cool.

Cant explain it all here but good positioning when shooting the zebetite, good decision making on when to go from one spot to the other and good knoledge on how the whole mother brain room worked. The baby skip is something i was pretty scared about since its a "you either get it or you dont" so im glad i did. Thanks

Thanks, i did a lot of normalizing to maximize consistency so the chances of loosing a run only happened on certain places. It got the the point where only 4 rooms and 4 bosses could make me loose a run and it became a task of trying to get these 8 spots damageless due to the rest of the run being highly consistent.

Started to freak out a bit when I heard the draining sound from the mochtroid at 59:17 Also thought you got hit at 1:33:29 but it was narrowly avoided with screw attack very impressive run, enjoyed watching

Yeah, i messed up and used grapple beam by mistake, that's the second time i make that mistake but being under pressure its pretty easy to forget a few things and making sure i wasnt using grapple was one of them, thankfully i managed to save it XD. Mochtroids are scary at times but im used to that one specifically. I appreciate you taking your time to watching this, thank you.

The "NO HIT rules" in the description are kind of unparseable for a newcomer. What's "CC" or "Dynamic Game Condition"? What's the difference between "Static" and "Dynamic" Environmental Damage or Traps? What counts as a "Soft/Hard" CC? Between that and most rules feeling like they are for some Souls-like instead of Super Metroid, it's kinda hard to tell what is a hit or not (like the steam vents. Is it some kind of an environmental damage? A trap? Something else?)

Para mi personalmente es este entre los 2d y Metroid Prime en los de primera persona, mi primer metroid 2d fue Metroid Fusion y me encanto pero cuando probe este un año atras inmediatamente se convirtio en mi metroid favorito. Muchas gracias, pasar juegos sin cojer hit o daño es terapeutico para mi y me encanta romper un juego y entenderlo hasta poder lograr este tipo de reto. Thank you. I dont think there's a way to manipulate the steam but to my understanding they appear in the same spot every time so with a good bit of caution you can avoid it. The easier method is to just space jump with screw attack all the way through because you dont get affeted by steam while using screw attack. I personally didnt mind it because it doesnt do damage for damageless and since the premise of hitless is to avoid damage or hard cc from the enemy then it doesnt invalidate that category either.

Since I watched the damageless I've always wanted to see a RTA Damageless that doesn't just HBJ over Bowling alley, to see the route approach for a damageless run. Bowling Alley is one of the scariest sections for me in this run specially since I go through it after a reset heavy boss like Phantoon (which is the boss that claimed 80 to 90% of my runs). Even tho i do it with grapple as intended you'll noticed that sometimes im just one block away from failing and that's super scary hahaha.

I think there's a couple of runners including Zoasty that are capable of doing this kind of challenge but its probably not that appealing to them, I'm sure one of the reasons is the amount of resets they'll have to do on the first boss. It requires a good amount of patience and time not to mention adopting slower strats for higher consistency throughout the whole run, its a bit anti-speedrun so I understand them if they don't like the idea.

Thanks my friend. Im guessing that you're refering to the back door option where i can get screw attack without fighting the boss. To be honest it involved a trick that i dont know if ppl would like it for a WF run and the other reason which is probably the main reason is that me and my community joke about calling it "Golden Chorizo" so i decided to include it regardless of what i choosed to do since it wasnt that much trouble to kill, also yeah that extra super missle pack goes pretty well against ridley and mother brain room.

No its any%, in the last fight there's a cutscene where mother brain hits you with rainbow beam for 300 damage. If you dont pick up 3 e tanks you'll die every single time thus being unable to finish the game so we need those tanks. Honestly i dont know why the developers didnt put in an extra cutscene where if you arrive with less than 99 health the baby just pops in and stops MB from doing the attack. No matter how much health you have if you end up with less than 300 health before rainbow beam you'll die and have to start from last save.

No that's the steam coming from the ground, it doesnt do damage so the no damage doesnt get affected and when it comes to no hit (which is a bit more complex) enviromental damage or stagger doesnt count as a hit.

You can glitch yourself out of the room and skip the fight entirely, that said the strat involves getting hit. But yeah there isnt a way without glitching it.
