When it's slowed down like that he sounds like a storm cloud pouring down around while thunder rumbles so deep it shakes the very ground on which you stand. A face forms out of the clouds above you, a face; stern but kind locks eyes with you he encourages you to keep going. There's so much to do. Lightning splits a tree and from the burning limbs you see cruel face, spitting poison into your ears. The burning tree extinguishes and the storm continues in relative silence.

This comment reminded me of another Greek myth, ah, he was a giant, towering so tall that his face could not be seen, engulfed in the clouds. He often brought floods and devastation with him, and if I remember correctly, his name was Typhon, or something along those lines, it's been so long since I've brushed up on that section of mythology.

most people who analysed the song actually come to this assumption! since there are two voices fighting, one telling achilles to jump, the other telling him to get off the roof. the 'good' one can be seen as patroclus, the 'bad' one as apollo or zeus
@alicealoi49514 жыл бұрын
@@watermelon_707_6 I mean, Zeus was neutral in the war, so I don't get why he should insult Achilles
@watermelon_707_64 жыл бұрын
@@alicealoi4951 true, its more likely to be apollo since he was on the trojan side in the war, but zeus can maybe be interpreted to symbolise all gods, Achilles fought against one and actually won and the relationship between humans and gods was just really critical, but i guess its a question of interpretation.
@Rose-xe4ct3 жыл бұрын
@@alicealoi4951 In the Iliad Achilles prayed to Zeus to make Patroclus return back to camp safely, but Patroclus had killed Zeus’ son Sarpedon so Zeus was like “lol no not my problem”. But as far as I know, Zeus didn’t have an issue with Achilles, it was more Apollo that did.

This truly sounds like my voice of reason fighting me to safely get off the roof in the middle of a heavy storm, lecturing me in a voice deeper then the rolling thunder (Haikyu fans please don't-). The voice in nearly frightening, rumbling without any physical impact, like being lectured be a parent that you've never seen, but somehow know, almost like a dream where you know someone's name, or who they are, or your relationship with them without it ever being stated. Like a heavy storm forming in my lungs, through my blood like a stern river. The second voice only seems to resonate in my head, blocking off the rest of my body, nearly paralyzing. More so like when you're playing some form of hide and seek in the dark and feel something brush against your back, despite you being all alone. A true heart vs. head argument. Together, the voices almost seem to suffocate me, like someone reached out and just stopped my diaphragm, controlling when I can breathe at uncomfortable intervals. It feels almost like watching something you love, or something ridiculously expensive be destroyed in front of you as you stand powerless, some invisible force holding your feet to the floor.

It was very chilly outside. The December air felt so cold and sad at the same time. As a little girl, around her 4th or 5th year at school was at the 5th-floor roof. Unlike her age, her eyes are surprisingly dull and tired. She was heartbroken from all the words and assault she got from someone that should've thought her not only math but social life and love. But yet the teacher only broke her forever and shattered. She didn't even leave a note on her phone. The teacher had kicked her out cause she was too slow to calculate the numbers. She can jump. It will be all over and see the loved ones again. As she left out her first step to the edge of the room. Something inside her heart tugged her back. "Don't." She didn't understand why. "Don't you want this pain to end forever? You'll see the people you love again. In other ways, you're just a waste of air and money anyways just like the teacher told you." a second voice told her. The other voice spoke " You'll regret jumping. You'll miss a lot of things in life." "MY LIFE WAS ALREADY RUINED ENOUGH FOR HER!" the other shouted. The girl didn't know which one to listen to. As her wrist didn't show the scars her heart was shattered and unmendable. But something inside told her to not do it. To come down. As about 30 minutes passed. The girl came down. She survived another day against her will.

A girl only 15 years old, live a life of full of friends and everyone thinks she has the best life. What they don't know is everyday she returns to an empty house, cold and alone. Every full moon the girl wakes up at midnight and climbs the roof, and those times on the roof are the best times of her life. She has always felt lonely and empty, and so she goes to the roof for the last time. She looks to the moon and smiles finally feeling free and content. She falls backwards, feeling the exileration of the wind at her back with her gaze to the sky. Leaving behind the cold mansion and fake smiles. As the nears the ground she can only utter two words... "thank you"

my religious trauma tells me this; A kid whose always lacked faith, never really interested in the words of the church but still forced to go because of their family had been driven to a vulnerable state of mind due to the shame they've felt for not believing in a higher power. They find refuge on the roof of a cathedral, their mind in an incredibly dark place. The view is beautiful, a portrait made from heaven if the kid could believe in such a thing. Conflict tears the kid's heart in two, and suddenly, the open air beyond a marble ledge seems incredibly inviting. They prepare to jump. Maybe in death, they will finally have an answer to this chaos. They'll find peace, faith. But before they could raise a foot to jump, a statue of a winged figure questions the kid. Believing this was some desperate hallucination, the kid tries to ignore the moving concrete- until the one on their left decides to speak up. "Jumping, are we? That's certainly a way to get noticed." The winged figure chimes, disinterested in the child's turmoil. While the one on their left, also winged with bat-like features disagreed. "Don't listen to the angel, with as many eyes it has, it cannot see sorrow like I can." The kid, very confused, and ultimately terrified, watches as the statues converse back and forth. The topic being the very soul that stood between them. The angel scoffs "The unfaithful will find their punishment." The demon retorts, "Sit with me, your time does not end on holy ground." The kid looks down, a final time. Their hands trembling as the two statues argued, it was as if the conflict had physically manifested. Now, the ledge didn't seem quite as welcoming... EDIT!!! For those interested, I've made a wattpad so that I could continue this story, and explore religion :))! As well as write other stories, if you are interested, it's @theyriot

a life of dullness and cruelty, the poor child suffered. her so-called parents had done nothing but stab her consciousness with their sharp venom-laced words, tearing her up and spitting her out. as she ran up to the top of the building without her adults' knowledge, she sits on the edge. nothing but the quiet humming of the fan near her seat, she enjoyed the soft breeze that she would never feel ever again. or so she thought, as she stood up and removed her shoes, a voice reached out. "don't go." it said, "please", its voice was as soft as marshmallows and as warm as the fireplace on a cold december . her feet itched to jump, but as she tried, her heart couldn't. it yearned for love because it knew that the world isn't as dark as the girl thought. before she could shake her heart off, "please, you'll regret it." and so, she hid the scars on her wrist, put her shoes back on, and came back down. she knew the world is cruel now, but it's up to her to make it a better place. and she will.

The sun goes down and then you can start again, fighting against the will of the world, deciding to live another day and see the next sunset Idk why, it just paints a gorgeous story of survival against the odds. A story of pain, yet in the end, rapture. A story of believing in yourself and deciding to push on, day after day, week after week, year after year.

I imagine this happening after Achilles jumps and he's sitting in Hades remembering his lover begging him to get off the roof, waiting to see if he get into Elysium or if he gets punished.

This version of the song’s vibe is like: “Achilles grieving Patroclus death and then smiling when the arrow strike him down”

Which translates to: "I see a lot of people die because they don't believe that life is worth living, and I see others who paradoxically get killed for the ideas, the illusions that gave them a reason to live. What we call a reason to live is also an excellent reason to die."

My POV: I’m standing on the roof, thinking about my life and how much it hurts to live but I think about all the people who love me but it quickly switches to all the bad things they’ve done and how easy it would be to just end it all. Which is better, people being happy with you living while you slowly die inside or for your loved ones to be sad when you’re finally happy for once? My friend is on the roof with me trying to talk me out of it, but is living in pain worth it? She tells me of all the good things as tears stream down my face. “The good things are only temporary,” I say to her, “After that, it’s only pain.” I close my eyes as I stand on the edge, feeling the bitter wind whispering jump. She says back to me, “please don’t do this!” But the wind screams yes and my mind says yes. She grabs my hand and holds it for a few minutes before I step down, collapsing in a heap of tears and pain. She holds me as we sit together on the roof not talking. A few moments pass as tears fall even harder and I say to her in a choked sob, "It hurts." She kisses the top of my head and says, "I know it does. I know"

I only have two things that I can think of at 5:29-6:32 . One is the Son and the Daughter talking to Anakin. Even though the Son represents the dark side of the force, he is trying to convince Ani of his worth to the Jedi and the light. He trying to convince him to stay with the light because he knows what will happen if he doesn't. And even though the Daughter represents the light side of the force, she however, is trying to convince him to the dark. She is trying to confuse him and make him believe Palpatine is right and that the Jedi don't believe in him. She also knows what will happen if he turns and she wants it. The Father is the one speaking in french, the french which (roughly) translates into "Memories of a lost homeland, or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between the man of his life". The Father is watching as his children try to convince Anakin aka, The Chosen One, to either stay and convert. All that he can do is give this little bit of information out as he watches and hopes for Anakin to take the right side. All, the Son, the Daughter, and the Father all know if he goes to the dark, the Mother will return. Sadly, the Daughter wins and he turns. The "I'm talking to you" At the end is Vader coming out to take over. Then I have this, Ahsoka, Padmé, and Obi-Wan are in the back of Anakin's mind, telling him to go back to before, be done with the sith and the dark side of the force, get off the roof of the dark side and go back. However, Palpatine is trying to silence these voices, making him stay to be his slave of the force. Luke is the french, who is also trying to convince him to return to the light. Return and accept the voices of the people he cared about the most. Anakin is the french as he is talking to Vader, also telling him to listen to his son and old loved ones. The 4 voices begin to blur, only Anakin and Luke's being what he can understand. He finally gives into 6 voices an get's rid of Palpatines and turns to the light. He died as one with the light, he died like he should have. He died with the last thing him seeing was his sons face. He was finally at peace, for the first time in 23 years. The final "I'm talking to you" is Padmé and Obi-Wan, finally seeing Anakin again, for the time in 23 years. Ahsoka is also the last "I'm talking to you" as she is finally feels a change in the force. She finally feels the presence of her old master again, before it soon goes away.

all of these are stories written about abuse or depression but this version makes me think of something else, it makes me think of a person descending into insanity but in the way its only ever written. its beautiful and hollow and peaceful. its how Oscar wilde wrote about death and how Scott Fitzgerald wrote about love. its the golden colour from the sun on a early summers morning, when you've not slept and the sun rises at 4am, you just sit and stare at it and you know that each time you drift further away from sanity but its how Icarus felt. as he flew closer and closer to the sun, feeling the wax melt and the wind in his ears, I do not believe he was afraid. i think he laughed and smiled because Icarus knew that even in death it was beautiful

He was standing on the rooftop, on the top of the house. When his mind told him stop, he said no I will jump. His heart told him jump, he said no I will fly. In the end his mind won, and he came down to cry. But when his mind fell asleep, in the night in his sleep, His heart took control, and his heart wanted out. And so out his heart went, and out his soul went, and dead his mind went, who still thought it was asleep

A cold autumn night with the moon shining above, watching the young woman walking alone. No one ever came to these woods anymore, but she was never scared. Why should she be when she herself was the most frightening thing this night had to offer? She breathed deeply and let the crisp night air fill her lungs, rich with the scent of the fallen leaves that crunched underfoot. Feeling the chill bite at her skin as she lifted her head to look at the waning moon above, she felt perfectly at peace. If someone had told her five short years ago that she'd still be alive, much less happy, she would have agreed with no belief or faith behind it. A bright peel of her laughter fills the near silent night as she throws out her arms and spins, bathing in how the relief and peace she feels have combined into euphoria within her. How proud she is for surviving everything that tried to kill her, herself included. How long it took to heal, how shocked and relieved and at peace she was in realizing she was safe. After years of silent pain and tears and hurt, she was finally safe. How much joy and love she now feels everyday she's blessed to not just survive, but live. And how very doomed is anyone who dares try to take her happiness again.

while listening to this it makes me think of my whole life. the good girl who always helped her friends, always the helpful, never the helped situation. and then i finally stop being the good girl, i slowly drift into insanity, i become the villain of my own story. but, being the villain in your own story is much better then side character right? no, you are wrong. now here i am with the rest of you about to cry because of how powerful these words were to me, for once. i was being helped. i was getting the help i deserved, the good karma had finally reached me. it's all just because of this song. i fucking love this song.
