Unfortunately not. The night before this he had "food poisoning" and fell off his drum throne. He made up for it on this night.

Guys can I give you a big hug and love to start with ❤❤ . I am relatively new to your channel . I was brought up on Zeppelin and only Zeppelin , a little later that then included Rush ..Do you get why I love your channel ….Looking forward to your Knebworth reviews . I was at the concert . Queued over a week to get tickets and the same sleeping in a field in Knebworth to get in to the show . In our tents listening to rehearsals across the fields they were rehearsing what then we didn’t know was In the evening off in thru the outdoor …..I hope you get to cover the o2 arena reunion of 2007 …..I have a return to beloved Greece in September and sure will have a musical fest on your channel whilst chilling on the beach ..You both take care 🥰🥰😘😘💕💕

I've been a Led Zepplin fan since their first album. I am stunned by how far you dive into zep. Honestly, you find songs and venues I've never heard. A close friend of mine borrowed "stole" his parent's car to go see this concert in L.A. 700-mile round trip in one night. I wasn't in the States at the time, but I would have definitely gone.

Famed concert taper Mike Millard captured this and three more nights from this 1977, LA Forum onslaught of 6 shows. Mike is no longer with us though. He taped many top rock acts that would come to the area and his tapes are now legendary. This Zeppelin gig in particular - has been dubbed “the most famous bootleg in the world.” Expectations were very high on this opening night. They hadn’t been in LA since March of ‘75. This was their favorite venue to play and were always “on” when in LA., which explains their more than usual vigor during this show. Bonzo is just kicking the sht out everybody here. Kashmir is especially huge from this tour and should be heard from this gig. Jimmy’s playing on this tour was hit or miss. His unraveling started in 1975 IMO…it started to physically show to the eye in ‘77. He wasn’t eating solid food and became a walking clothesline. Very dangerous stuff. On the third night of this run of concerts, Keith Moon was in the house…and Bonzo was eager to show who the better drummer was. Achilles from 6-23-77 is the one to hear! Also, Knebworth ‘79 is a good late career rendition as well. It’s on the DVD.

Maybe my favorite Led Zeppelin song. This is a good live version. I wish there was more broadcast quality live recordings of them. I agree, the drumming is really good and you can hear it real good. I might’ve been at this very concert. They had five sold out shows at the Los Angeles forum this year and I was it one of those shows. It was pretty cool and pretty loud.

I know I rag on the ‘77 tour a bit. But I did see them twice that year and Nobody’s Fault was definitely a highlight of the show!… thanks for doing the deep dives!

Oh rats; I missed out on attending this concert performance. But I did catch the one on the 27th, also @ what is today the Kia Forum. Literally the band's final L.A. date. Ground floor, seventh row, middle section. The shows ran a duration lasting nearly four hrs, so the audiences got far more than their money's worth.

Excellent that you guys are doing deep dives of the same songs at different times....it really gives you a sense of how their sound evolves. They also played both of these tracks (and Kashmir) in their European 1980 shows, just before Bonham passed.

Great Review!!! I had just turned sixteen when I saw The Mighty Zeppelin at this show. I expected the Jimmy Page from The Song Remains the Same Movie but instead got the "1977 Version" of Mr. Page. He totally "winged" the guitar solo. Jimmy was fortunate to have had such a great band that helped carry the show. BTW, the show was amazingly loud!!! Great Time Indeed. Thanx for this Review. Lotta Luv 😺

most excellent! thanks for the live performances. when i started getting into zeppelin in the mid 80s the band was already over and all i had was the LP and an occasional live bootleg song on the radio. One such song stands out is a live bootleg of Black Dog that was amazing. can't wait for the road trip with Black Sabbath!! this is going to be great!

Great news and decision about reacting to Black Sabbath. I bought their first album 1) because of the cool cover 2) the record shop had mistakenly priced it at £1. Really looking forward to your reactions.

You must revisit Achilles from 6-23-77. I know what you’re getting at by citing the Knebworth version being the top one…but Robert was not into the Knebworth affairs much. Remember, Moonie was in the house that night in LA so…John was eager to show him up. Bonzo and Robert are on absolute fire on that ‘77 version. Please listen once again.

Even strung out on dope, not eating for days and only sleeping in the limo from the hotel, Jimmy is still crushing it in both songs. It wasn’t always this good on this ( final ) USA tour but tonight the band totally justified their legend.

June was their most consistent run of the 77 tours this recording captures how MASSIVE they sound

Nobody's Fault sounded really good. I am surprised they did not put it or some version on How the West was Won. Regarding Achilles Last Stand, it's sounds similar to Knebworth - maybe Knebworth sounds a little better as other folks mentioned but it likely looks a little worse due to Jimmy's appearance. And not just that but 80's clothes and style were creeping in and not in a good way. The Mighty Zep was never meant for the 80s. They were forged in the 60s to Rule the 70s. They did that.Thank you.

Is it true that Jimmy has never publicly acknowledged his past drug use. I"ve both read & heard this. I did read eons ago, that before it was officially announced about Bonham's death, people automatically assumed it was Jimmy. That's how bad it had gotten
@MusicforBusyPeople Жыл бұрын
I think he has acknowledged it, but perhaps never truly reflected on the negative impact it had at the end.
