@@ghiriishsridharan5719 if nothings helps (even injection of blood plasm) you can see a physiologist and maybe it's the stability of your ankle or knee that causes the achilles pain. Go and see a sports physiologist.

I had insertion tendonitis a number of years ago and it went away after a while. It’s come back again and has been sore of 2 weeks, I tried doing calf raises but it made it a million times worse. So I’m just wearing heal raises in my shoes and icing.

@lavayuki
@lavayuki 2 жыл бұрын
@@yukimodz9127 It's still sore, I'm 3 months into my rehab and a lot better, I had about 7 sessions of shockwave therapy and started doing calf raises from the ground rather than off the step and now I can walk about an hour without pain, However running or anything intense is still out of the question, so I'm just doing shockwave therapy and calf raises and some other ankle strengthening exercises my physio gave. I think it takes many months to recover

Hello, when you say your Achilles isn’t getting any better, what sort of timeline are you talking about from when the injury occurred? I injured mine 4 days ago, it feels a bit better from exercises I am doing, but is still sore.
@TreatMyAchilles
@TreatMyAchilles 3 ай бұрын
We're talking 12 weeks or more - 4 days is very early and if you look after it well, it will calm down nicely.
@richardoshea2071
@richardoshea2071 3 ай бұрын
@@TreatMyAchilles yes, thanks for the reply. It has calmed down on day 9 now. The tender pain went a few days ago, it is just a bit stiff at times. This goes with the exercises though. I went for a 200 metre jog yesterday, and it feels fine this morning. Will try 300 metres tomorrow, and build it up that way.

What about swelling at the ankles, due to an accumulation of too much salt in the diet?
@TreatMyAchilles
@TreatMyAchilles 2 жыл бұрын
There are many reasons why ankles may swell other than salt. It is best to speak to your doctor about it as you may require further investigation. Just to clarify - this comment refers to general swelling around the ankles that are not linked to a sport injury and is not located at the tendon only.

Can you guys please do a video on tendinosis. I can never find a video on Achilles tendinosis. It’s always either tendinopathy or tendinitis. I have tendinosis but I don’t really know what to do. There is no swelling or a lump at all and it only hurts when I pinch it. Looking at pictures of my left and right ankle you wouldn’t know if I have an Achilles problem or not Also it would help if you guys would demonstrate exercises, show us where you’re talking about as you explain. Thanks!

Hi, I have mid-portion tendinitis. It felt really good following physio (strengthening, calf stretch, kerb dropping) so I went for a jog for about 4k. First 2k no pain, second 2k a niggling bit of pain. Later (after a couple Hours rest) the pain was back and I was hobbling a bit. I'm 55, not on any medication and never have been. I was expecting some pain in the area after the jog. Is this normal or am I back to square one? Thanks
@TreatMyAchilles
@TreatMyAchilles 2 жыл бұрын
It sounds as if you've just done a bit too much. jogging is much higher load than your strength training so you have to approach it like you did your exercise and start with little bits and build it up over time. You will have to allow your pain to settle, build more strength and then ease back in to running. These videos may help: How to approach return to running as strength training: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2icioWhd7CgbNE How to handle flare-ups: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roKkeIeOnbKNoKM If you wanted more specific rehab advice and help with getting back to your normal activities, this is something that our team of physios can help you with via video call. I’ve had this for 3yrs now had multiple scans done more exercises than I care to think of and my daily pain is a 5/6 but I cant not go hiking I need it for my MH… I go I’m in pain then nurse then rinse and repeat it’s very frustrating. They’re now talking of injecting and flushing both achillies. It’s a bugger of an injury

It is often more about actually understanding what is right for your specific case with regards to load management - so not just do loads of exercises but have the correct combination of shoes, assessing and adapting all the activities in your life that may be irritating it, adding exercises if needed but they should be at the correct level for you and not increase your pain. If you wanted a second opinion and help with getting back to your normal activities, this is something that our team of physios can help you with via video call. Yes - there was a recent study that specifically looked at this and they identifies subgroups of patients that require slightly different treatment approaches. Alison has just made a video that is due to come out on 20 Feb about this. But in the meantime this video also explains some reasons for why pain may persist kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHKuc4qNjrqZp7c
