Eduard Haken jako comtur - je naprosto luxusní - škoda, že s ním není více nahrávek... JInak super seriál - skvělí Páni herci, úžasná hudba, krásné kostýmy a národní cítění - prostě špička! :-)

It's a TV series about the beginning of the "Czech National Rebirth" in 18th century: adaptation of a 5 part novel by Alois Jirásek about a real person F. L. Věk (although it is only loosely connected to his real life), in that time a young student and musician. He meets many real persons incl. Mozart, emperor Joseph II. and many important men of Czech Rebirth. Czech country was a part of habsburg monarchy in that time, so nation faced strong german influence.

The men of Rebirth saved czech literary language and culture due to theatre and literature. It was quite hard in that time, because in that time with a higher rank and education was of course connected german language and it was supposed to live as a german. The TV serie was made in 1971 and incorporated also many allusions to then political situation, so it was prohibited for a long time.

But the language of my opera was italian...
