To all the people who exerted time & effort in making this documentary, to the uploader of this video, thank you very much. This is very informative, especially to the Central Asia countries that were under the former USSR. History at its best. Salamat, from The Philippines.

Thank you Andrew, for uploading all the 18 episodes of Silk Road II. Brought back memories. Very familiar with Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region as I spent time there. Nothing has changed with regards to the hospitality of the Steppe people like the Kazakhs and Uighurs - lovely people indeed. Thank you again.

Oh what a shame I came to the end of this lovely journey of the Silk road documentary series. So cleverly underwent, filmed & documented by the Japanese. I've enjoyed every minute of the journey as if I was there with the crew & meeting all the lovely friendly people & their rich cultures. Thank you very much Andrew Chuter for posting this.

People rise and fall, Empires rise and fall, Time changes everything, From great fortress of kharakhoto to deserted sand, city flourished once under the lake. Nothing is permanent. people are just a mare part of this great nature of earth, time or whatever. this is one of the major thing i learned while watching the entire episodes. and While watching this i felt like travelling with this team !! and Specially amazed by how Buddhism flourished in China and west ward to the ruins of mervs. Thank you NHK/CCTV and everyone involved !!

Like all good things, this too must come to an end. Some five years of these six(?) people means that 30 years was devoted to this epic saga. I suspect that it was, for all of them, their opus and probably their greatest accomplishment. I'm not sure what to watch next, what follows something like this? While I feel this could have been better, indeed much better, it was still a fantastic piece of work and whatever I watch next will be unfairly compared to it and be unable to compete. I've now watched both series, all 30 episodes, and need to follow it up with something good. At any rate, I've hopped in a vehicle and driven around, seemingly at random, for great periods of time - with my greatest journey being a little less than 1/3 of their total distance. Notably, mine took less time as I had no film crew, agenda, and soul purpose of the trip (that particular one) was to see the country that I was in. I only took a bit over 6 months for my longest trip so I am not sure how that compares to them. The end of this, indeed the last three episodes, seemed out of sorts and rushed as well as not really having much to do with the real meat of the story. Still, I'm grateful for them but the series did have to end somewhere. I really have no idea what to watch next. So, uploader, thank you for the sharing.

I think NHK made a documentary of the Silk Road by sea series .
@galeng734 жыл бұрын
@@Livewire91 Hmm... Tales of the Silk Road of the Sea, maybe?
@Livewire914 жыл бұрын
@@galeng73 No that one is too modern. The one NHK made was in 88-89.

buzzingtalk edit - just found it on youtube! Just look for 'Silk Road IV' ;) Note - Kitaros music isn't on the intro and the voice over is now American, so very different.

albuk666 says: "do you have the Silk Road IV ???" == Does that mean there's a series "III"? i searched and here it is, "Silk Road III" kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3q8poOdg9uGj80 "A quarter of a century later, NHK re-visits Silk Road with high-definition cameras, and continues further through Central and West Asia...."

probably the most complete story based on true facts that we have witnessed and covering so many countries and a few dozen ethnic groups,,,ho God oh YHAVÉH,thanks for allowing me to see it all and knowing that the story keeps ongoing,,,.Music,thanks KITARO for the music but also thanks Steve Rucker for the masterpiece you did with Kitaro music and the Royal Symphonic Orchestra.it was due to a mistake that i bought a case with four vynil records thinking it was symphonic Rock from the WHO.no it was not the Who,it was The Silk Road tv series done in the 80's.
