Elm burl looks good. Where/how do you purchase your FeCl3 and how do you mix it? I see some on Amazon that looks like it might be 42%, do you dilute it from that strength or use it straight?

I bought mine on the internet and had it shipped, I had to pay Hazmat fee. And then I did mix it 50/50 with distilled water

when you add the handle and shape it do you etch the metal where the handle was sanded

That spalted flame is beautiful and very rare. It's hard enough to find good chatoyance in maple, but adding that little bit of spalting really makes it special.

When working the handles back to the spine and smoothing them together, do you loose the etch

You do but it is easy to re-etch the spine
