Holy crap! Who'da thunk acid etching was so simple. Gotta love how this woman doesn't try to impress anyone by making simple stuff sound complicated.

some 100% acetone would make the clean up a lot faster and cheaper, it is the active ingredient in nailpolish remover, they sell it by the gallon at your local hardware store around the painting stuff

Put a little baking soda in the water to neutralize the acid, just to be safe you know? Water alone will get most of it off but won't kill it completely.

Do you know if you are using nail enamel or a nail lacquer? The reason I ask is because I know that nail polish (any brand worth buying) is really expensive. If it is an enamel… you could use model paint or One Shot sign painters paint as a replacement. Much more cost effective.

@kailacumings
@kailacumings 9 жыл бұрын
burtdj as far as I know it should :) ive done it on stainless steels as well
@ConfessorEpicness
@ConfessorEpicness 8 жыл бұрын
+burtdj many alloyed steels that are now popular with bladesmiths were originally made to be resistant to corrosive oxidation which is what this form of etching is essentially. Others can produce poisonous or explosive gases so its important to do a bit of research on the metal you are working with before you dunk it. in most cases a simple google search will give you what solution will work best for the type of metals you are working with.
