My tip: Have someone else put them in, make sure the sections are clear and clean, so you don’t get strays cause they will stick up or tear your hair. Also don’t part your hair for the dreads, go with the way your hair naturally falls.

I have two sets of dreads from this artist, one wool set and one synth set. They're both amazing and I wear the wool set all the time. I prefer single ended because it's quicker and easier for me to install them, and I'm finding I prefer the wool over syth because they're easier for me to re seal. I'm glad you love them, they look amazing!

My way of installing is to braid them in. So take two pieces of hair spread them out and place the top of the dread(middle the double part) place on your root and use one side and braid with it down and use a clear rubber band to keep them in.

Alice Dreads was also my first set of DE dreads I bought. I made kanekalon SE dreads back in 2010, but had to learn how to make my own DE wool dreads since I didnt buy enough. Now I've been using dreads from Peacock Dreams and theyre amazing. But I need to pick up some of those raven vertebrae bone beads from Alice they look amazing. Also wool is fucking amazing I'll never go back to the kanekalon dreads, after a few washes they look pretty damn real and waaaaay lighter lol

Foo a girl I work with who’s had different types of dreads over the years is who told me these things, not meaning you or I will have the same problems, but she said they were itchier and heavier than kanekalon and that they’ll get little fuzz balls on them that you have to shave off..kinda like a sweater will pill up. I was mainly worried I’d have a reaction to them bc my mom is very allergic to wool-and I don’t know if I am. But, knowing me, I’ll end up with a pair just to try out lol

AcidPentagramPizza THats interesting. I do find that I think they collect lint when I put on clothes sometimes but it’s not a massive amount and not noticeable. Also mine are pretty light but get super heavy when I wash my scalp and they get soaked. I wonder if your kankleon ones will absorb as much water as the wool. Heaving these dreads are fun though, you’ll want to collect different colors lol. I hope you like them

Mine are kinda damaged because we tried different ways of installing them but it’s all a learning experience lol I can’t believe people care so much about other people. I guess she wanted to feel special like the only dread girl in town. People have no lives if they’re gonna get upset over something like that

I use to have/make synthetic dreads, and loved every second I had them. Sleep on your side with your dreads up across your pillow, also try not to flip around in your sleep. You will smack yourself in the face and scare the shit outta yourself. Just saying it happened to me a few... Hundred times

I don't understand this idea of locs being race exclusive. All human hair locks and mats up if it's neglected or left alone regardless of texture and most people know this. I very much appreciate cultural sensitivity with certain garments and tribal hairstyles But locks are not race exclusive. I think that body modification and self expression exploding in the west over the past 20+ years, particularly among white youth has opened up important conversations and discussions regarding cultural sensitivity, breaking down old mindsets paradigms, and fears about things like body modifications and unconventional hair, and coming to a higher understanding and collective consciousness shift pertaining to what culture, freedom and individuality means for all of us and as individuals. I'm from the UK, and I grew up in a very diverse city and have found pockets of heavily modified people who dress and express themselves creatively (making a living while doing so) so my experience with regards to these things might be a little different, but it has been interesting to observe how these dynamics still play out sometimes from multiple ends. Apologies for long winded comment, my only advice is to ignore comments and continue to be yourself and do as you please. This is how I've managed to free myself from the impacts of (this level of) prejudice.

see, just so youre aware, as long as there isnt appropriation of the hairstyle or anything. its not race exclusive. Its when people take it a step further to harrass and pretend they made up the hairstlye, or when they dont know the background of the hairstyle yet claim it as though they do. This is when it becomes a problem. Other than, the well-known, judging those who have it but yet getting it yourself, or claiming you know what your doing when someone tells you "you made a mistake". you have the right mindset but its not fitting in all situations. instead of not seeing color, we need to see it and change ourselves so we dont ignore the cultural differances and challenges. This is how we fix things. I like your mindset but ignoring some things isnt an answer. have a nice day.
