Acids for Pigeon Health - Pigeon Tips

Citric acid and Apple Cider Vinegar are commonly used "natural" medicines for pigeon health. In this video we talk about their uses and dosages.

This is one thing I do give my feral pigeons and it started as a deterrent to algi in the water but I have read up on it and do give 5ml per litre of ACV and swap it up with lemon juice a couple of days a week. I read that the gut acidity plays a role in preventing disease so they gey their acids. Of course I supply fresh water daily or more often if it gets dirty for the birds and elsewhere for the other animals that visit and use vinegar in all the water but in small amounts simply to keep it clear. Thank you again for your clear tips on the health of pigeons (even though mine are wild I do try to make sure they're healthy because I really love pigeons and have done since my uncle had racing pigeons when I was little).

He’s torturing his racers by locking them up and heavily overstocking it’s so cruel to see his pigeons struggle to fly ! In fact it’s been so long now since they have flown, they have adapted to a run and hide in a tree habitat! Which is so unnatural for a racing pigeon that should be soaring fast in the air and loving life . It brakes my heart to see what he has done to those pigeons 😢 and he always try’s to deflect his cruelty by say oh! Falcon right everyone back inside, when we know it’s a mere raptor passing over with no interest . Yes Many lofts is no longer fun to watch ! Sorry for putting his cruelty on your page but you seem to know so much and I love watching your pages as you know 👍🏼

1-2 days a week is enough. Especially for non-flying pigeons. If the loft gets a bit wet in the rain, I like to give them acid on rain days. I prefer citric acid, but a lot of guys prefer the ACV

Maaz Persians Karnataka you had coccidiosis....apple cider vinigar will eliminate these diseases because of the acid which bad bacteria hate.....make sure to dry your floor by putting wood shavings if your birds have diarrhea because a wet environment will increase the disease

I am so very new to keeping pigeons. My severely ill husband was given 8 pigeons by s well-meaning friend. Now, it's my job to learn how to adequately care for them. I started out not very thrilled with this venture, but I'm growing more excited about pigeons as I learn more. So, I ask this: does anyone know if it's ok to given pigeons liquid acid whey? I make our own Greek yogurt, acid whey being a by-product. I'm using it for my husband, as well. It does contain some prebiotic, which I've heard is also beneficial to pigeons health. Might this be considered (🙄) .... 2 birds with one stone?

@@haroonhidayat Look for Bragg apple cider vinegar with the mother. You should be able to get it from bragg website or amazon, other places.

@@haroonhidayat Organic ACV with the mother is the best. The mother is the cloudy stuff that settles at the base of the bottle. Cheaper ACV is clear. The mother is beneficial bacteria as it is unpasteurised, unrefined, and unfiltered. It also contains polyphenols to help kill off free radicals. Braggs Organic Apple CIder is a very good brand of ACV. Shake the bottle before use to distribute the mother before pouring the dosage.
