I added the Silence Leviathan to Subnautica and you can get it RIGHT NOW!
The silence roams the void and will be a new leviathan in Subnautica: Call of the Void. It can cancel out sound waves, effectively generating a silent aura around it while it's cloaked! Can you travel through the silent waters and reach the mysterious precursor signal?

sugestion in each shard you should a shard which gives you an achievement & the final build should do a check for these achievements & if you have them all it would you an extra bit of content like a data entry thanking them for their support of the project & team

Hey, professional asset designer and texture artist here. I have a suggestion for you. The flat black of the creatures hide is cool and all, but don't forget there's blood inside that thing. You can warm the color up in some areas with some reds and purple to break up the flat black. It'll make the visuals of the creature more interesting by breaking up the solid space.

@@Brydav_Massbear The reason their blood is yellow is because of the game's "Child friendliness." In early access, they had red blood. Whether the yellow blood is lore accurate is something I don't know. Also, the ice worm leviathans have red blood, as seen with its half eaten corpse.

Hi, Onat here! Seeing the fanart I made years ago take form in-game and basically looking at my imagination come to life is pretty surreal, thank you very much for choosing to develop the quiet boi. You guys really did a fantastic job and I really like the additional details as well like the cloaking and tying it to silent running mode/decoys, fits very well (I love the de-cloaking effect btw). And glad a lot of ppl seem to be enjoying the concept too! Can't wait to meet the Silence in a video myself, and will be looking forward to the full mod as well. Keep up the amazing work! ^_^

One idea I had for the silence leviathan (back when I figured it to be much smaller) was that its first encounter with your cyclops is handled with curiosity: instead of outright attacking you, it taps on your hull with its horn, as if to feel you out. After it’s done tapping, you get a momentary pause of silence before it formally greets you face to face in all its frightful glory, and begins its attack. Maybe this could be a rare and brief opportunity to shut down all your noises before it determines that you’re its prey?

What I love about this mod is that it implies the dead zone isn't dead. Maybe around the crater edge, sure, but if you go deep enough, there is tons of flora and fauna. It makes the planet that much more alive and make so much more sense since the deepest point in the crater is actually super shallow compared to like Mariana Trench.

It also kinda breaks the base game continuity though, the planet only having surviving flora and fauna around certain areas of the planet is intentional because the bacterium wiped all other life out, i know thats a nitpick but if we're talking about how much 'sense' it makes then it doesn't make much at all

Thats not why the rest of the planet is "dead", its just "dead" because of a lack of heat for life to evolve. And since these islands used to be part of the main crater, they just took the life with them.

Idea: if it hears you, make the blue crystals turn a hellish red color, another recommendation, add a heartbeat when it gets close to you or hears you. Another recommendation, If you somehow manage to kill the silence, you will get "silence scales" which you can use to make a cloaking device, when the full mod releases, it will encourage players to venture into the void to find and kill the silence if they dare. Because there is no real reason to go into the void besides pressing E on a computer.

Using sonar could possibly be a mechanic for stunning the silence, as it’s audio sensitive organs would most likely be extremely sensitive and would be overwhelmed by a sudden blast of sound. This would be overpowered, so a large chance of the silence attacking would make sense when sonar is used, with a small chance of stunning the leviathan

I like the idea of the Silence’s head bone being kind of like a fin on top of its head, and then it extends. You could also have that be a way for it to attack things, like if it can’t bite you because it isn’t close enough, it’ll attack with the bone fin. You could also have the bone be unable to cloak, as a kind of early warning, since the bone doesn’t have any skin or flesh on it to facilitate the cloaking ability.

Ik this is kinda late, but for the first part, it does use the head bone to attack things. It has custom attacking animations and when it attacks the seamoth, it uses the head bone and kinda stab the seamoth by retracting the bone and poke it forward. Don't know if there's an animation for the prawn suit though, had a seamoth in my cyclops.

I found your time capsule in subnautica. It had a picture of areaper leviathan with a skull head. It said: "A message from the prerealease Hey there! I packed you some stuff to get rid of the power problem in the cyclops, as well as a nice miniature aurora for decoration! I hope you have an amazing time playing Subnautica! You know, the Quiet One here seems to be a relative of the Reaper. The only difference is that Reapers are dumb. The Silence however, isn't. It honestly reminds me a lot of the Warden from Minecraft, a blind superpredator that can only detect you through the vibrations that you make. Also, a little headcanon I have for these guys is that they prey on Ghost Leviathans which are filter feeders, and because of how they adapted, they are one of the few lifeforms that can sense the Silence.

Oooo that's a cool headcanon, I can just imagine being out in the void in your ship with one or two ghost leviathans attacking, just as usual if you sail into the void. Suddenly, everything goes eerily quiet and the ghosts start seeming spooked. Then out of nowhere The Silence just uncloaks and starts goin after the ghosts. It'd be so scary to see whats supposed to be the biggest, scariest leviathans in the scariest area suddenly just get taken out by this thing.

Thank you so much for allowing us to access parts of the mod early. It was very frustrating when we got videos about the Gargantuan Leviathan NPC itself basically being complete only for mod release to pushed back until further notice. I understand they have big plans for the mod and its a limited team of hobby devs, but it makes me concerned that the mod is in development hell due to ambitious feature creep. Even if the scope of this project doesn't come to complete fruition, the Subnautica community at least has something amazing to play with today.

It's been 2+ years since they started. Eventually, most of the team abandoned the mod, leaving only one or two people working on it. I doubt they'll ever complete it. At this point, it's just a dick move to not release what they made so far.

okay so hot take, I feel the leviathan going invisible is kinda redundant and doesnt make much sense lore wise, especially if the thing is blind, I think it would be much more terrifying if it was just jet black, to blend in with the dark waters, make it a little bigger and have it just have its mouth open infront of you, so that all you can do to tell if its there is look at the edge of the screen for teeth, and if you see them, your already inside its mouth, and you have to turn around and do a burst jump to get out before it closes on you.

I love that you guys are giving leviathans new mechanics and not just another reaper reskin! Also, do you think we could traverse the void in only the prawn suit? It’s obviously not recommended, but it would be really funny if you could!

@Aci_yt what about the first few islands though? Iirc the concept was for the player being able to traverse the first island with the cyclops, then when going deeper having to use the hydra? exploring the islands via prawn would also offer some variety, with the grapple arms ect.

I got to say, i'm not big into the Subnautica modding scene (last I saw of it was very early on) but seeing you actually add in a leviathan that isn't just a reskinned reaper, that has unique behaviors and mechanics is seriously impressive. Looking forward to the final mod!

The silence is terrifying as intended however it can chase you way to far. I managed to get it to my lifepod then the aurora blew up and i crashed which was a shame because i wanted to see it compared to the reaper. Im excited to see more and i hope this feedback helps!

Imagine if in vanilla subnautica you swim out so far in the void that the ghost leviathans stop following and the pda proceeds to say: there is a good reason why the gargantuan leviathan vent extinct.

Or it just alerts you that the ghosts have stopped following for some reason, then tells you if you continue that something very very large is around and to be cautious, then it attacks

I saw 'The Silence' fanart for years thinking if this monstrosity were in the game is real, i would've never touch the game ever again out of pure fear. It's just the thought of being in the deep dark void where it is COMPLETELY SILENT and seeing this THING appear in front of me would've made my soul left my body instantly lmao I'm so happy this horrific creature is in a subnautica game, even if it's just a mod, i cannot wait for Call of the Void to be finished, it's gonna be absolutely amazing!

i have a cool concept a octopus soo when you hear a bubble sound you need to stop an turn off all you lights because it's tent culls have eyes on them but they only see light and of they see your lights on that will drag you and you cyclops down to the bottom of the void

I wonder if the bone on the Silence's head could be used for something other than stabbing or attacking. Maybe the creature can not only hear sound, but sense vibrations in the water around it much like a Sand Worm from Dune. The bone dagger in its head could be used not only for killing but sensing its environment by having a ton of nerve endings snaking around its structure, which it can 'enable/disable' at will when going on the attack so it doesn't hurt or overstimulate itself. Just some fun lore/scientific ideas for the functionality

Well, vibrations in the water are sound waves... Vibrations in the sand from Dune are sound waves travelling through the sand. And they said that Silence detects sound by the bioluminiscent organ.

hellooooo, I tried the mod and I must say that the effect it gives is exactly what I needed: "An even more dangerous place and with even more mysteries". During the test I had fun getting to the area to start viewing the mod and the PDA warning is really nice. The part that I didn't like and I hope you will improve are the leviathan's animations: 1) they seem too mechanical and unnatural, compared to the other leviathans 2) bug due to its attack animation, it stuck me inside the island making it almost impossible to explore. For the rest, the mod intrigues me a lot and I hope it will be a proud Subnautica DLC

Wanted to comment on the behind the scenes video but ill do it here: To combat kelp lag and reduce poly's keep only 1 kelp and use Alt + D this duplicates with linked data (and if you alter the kelp design it will update everything at once) Or even better, distribute using geo nodes to also keep the poly count low with the added ability to easily give noise into the geometry/position/rotation and scale. Hope it helps! (Btw. If geo nodes interests you but you need help, I could help)

This is insane. The AI is very advanced for something that started out as a simple game about fish. The model is also good and the animations are top quality. You guys did an amazing job. I’m really excited to see what more the mod will bring

I had an idea for a new Leviathan: imagine that you are swimming peacefully on a floating island, but that it seems strangely empty, and that none of the usual little fish are present. In fact, there seems to be no sign of animal life on it. Suddenly, you turn around, and you see a huge Leviathan in the distance. as you get closer, you understand that this terrifying creature is not, as you first believed, a single Leviathan, but indeed a gathering of all the small fish in the area forming a single entity (in the shape of a Leviathan) capable of changing form, or of dissolving so that all the little fish become entities again on their own.

I may be a bit late to this but I have two ideas Your swimming to the next island, and it looks like a safe place, bright plants and food sources, and crystals everywhere. But as you get the close, the Mirage falls and you see a dangerous forest, and tentacles from the plant reach out the grab you and/or your sub. If you manage to escape, another creature is waiting to take you down instead. I thought this might add to the "thinking your safe for a moment but your really not" vibe to this mod. For a creature idea, it's a smaller creature but it could be cool. The Acidfish looks a Lionfish, but a longer tail and longer fins. It's main scales are gray or black, and it's accents being gray-blue. You don't see this creature as it blends in well with its surroundings, to protect its self from predators, but if you go to close, it sprays an acid around its self as a defense, damaging the player and giving a slow damage affect even after you get away from the area. Hope you like these!

6 Months late, but I've got an idea: What if you added a weapon that is 'supposed' to be used to fight the Silence, but it ends up backfiring horribly when you try to use it. Making the encounters with it even more terrifying when you feel confident that you can fight it off, only for your weapon to make things worse for you. Obviously wouldn't be too expensive in terms of resources.

A small thing that would be great would be if the leviathan would just blind you in the spot it is in on your screen as an ability, so imagine this, you are at the last stretch of the void, you start seeing an island slowly fade in,but all of a sudden on the corner of your eye a bit seems to disappear for a split second you turn around another part disappears for a split second, it looks like a figure of something , parts of the island stop disappearing for a while, you think you imagined then the whole screen goes dark for a few seconds, the darkness finally fades away, revealing a massive jaw of teef just about to swallow your Cyclops

That being said I will never download this mod cause I get scared paralyzed by the Warpers alone and can‘t play Subnautica without cheats because of that so I will watch from afar 👀😂

This sounds amazing. I think you’re really onto something. Here’s something you guys might consider: find a way to include a cut-scene in which a Reaper or a Sea Dragon or a Ghost finds it’s way deep into the Void and have them make lots of noise and watch as the Silence comes and finishes them off.

Ok... hear me out... but I honestly think The Silence should be slightly smaller. Now, I don't mean THAT much smaller, it should still remain the biggest aggressive leviathan in the game, but I think it being nearly as big as the Sea Emperor is just a little too much, I mean the thing is nearly the length of two Sea Dragons... wow. So here's my suggestion! 1. Make it's tail about 10% smaller, because as it stands now it is a bit longer than in the concept art. And 2. Take it's full body and scale it down anywhere from 5-10%. After these adjustments it will still be bigger than the Sea Dragon as well as the Void Ghost Leviathans, ( Which, little known fact, are slightly bigger than the normal adult ghosts, making them the largest aggressive creature in the franchise so far) while still remaining a logically sized creature for the world of Subnautica! But hey, those are just my thoughts, anyone who read all of this, thanks!

I think the Silence is somewhat OP with it's cloak timings. Maybe it's reasonable to make it visible for more time before attack? Although, you and your team are doing amazing job on this mod, keep it up! By the way, i,m still waiting for lurker, and possibly for it's tameable juvenilles, because it's the most adorable thing i've ever seen in subnautica!

I'm glad you guys decided to make it reactive to the sonar, it would be interesting to give it a very very long tracking on sonar noise to stop people overusing sonar, but also very evil >.> lol... Realistically though it should just be a case of, if your sonar reaches it, it's alerted, which is already terrifying... You JUST see this thing come up on the sonar and it's already turning to look at you... An, if your sonar can see it, it can see you kind of reaction

My friend was a madman and got out of his cyclops, shot it with a Statis rifle, scanned it, and then got back to his cyclops. Why is he like this- he wasn't even afraid at all! Meanwhile there's me, sitting there in the discord vc practically whispering and feeling like I wanted to throw up from fear-

Might already be something planned way down the road, but like a lot of the other leviathans that cause mass terror, a juvenile version of this in the darkest areas of the map would be a great touch. Obviously ghost leviathans already lurk in the blood kelp and the grand reef while the juveniles are in the lost river, but I think an area like the bulb zone or maybe even the edge of sea treaders path could be perfect places to throw these since the reapers already occupy most of the other boarder biomes haha. Keep up the great work guys! Really looking forward to what's to come!

I saw a comment from here. It's about an idea of how the silence behaves... since the leviathan is blind and, most importantly, cloaked, we need something to prevent immediate aggression from the creature... so for added scary features, the leviathan should sneak to the player and try to identify the noise by tapping with the bone thing (the scary feature), which gives you time to turn off EVERYTHING. If your position is correct, you can even briefly glance at the creature before it goes back to cloak... 😮 Ps. Im guessing for first-time players, the silence added with tapping sounds moments later would surely scare them 😂

The silence is brutal on its own already, maybe could use more work in the heartbeat sounds that its makes when its about to attack you (I think), like make the sound attack pattern it makes more recognisable (roar sound --> absolute silence ---> heartbeat sounds ---> attack) (that's what I think it is ?). Other than keep the amazing work!

Ok so this is very cool. My first thoughts, after installing all the requirements, the mod works perfectly. The Silence Leviathan is really creepy (good job!) and its mechanics seemed to work fine on my first impression. Also, I've experienced 2 interesting bugs: The first is not so annoying, basically the islands can be seen with the sonar, but don't appear on the seaglide's map, which I think is not much of a problem and it's probably caused by the terrain editor you're using so I don't think you can solve it. The second one, however, is a bit more annoying. When you pass over the border of the main island and you return to the same island seconds later, the music resets, no fade, it just interrupts and starts from the beginning. My first hypothesis is that the island might be considered the part where the new biome starts, so the music starts when you cross its border, but maybe the game doesn't consider that the music could already be playing when you cross it. Overall it's a great beginning, and I love what this is becoming!

I would like to bring up an idea for a potential counter to the silence, and it’s a real technology used in both military and civilian submarines, passive sonar. As you mentioned in the video, sonar is where you use a sound wave to map the area around you, passive sonar just listens. Passive sonar’s main use in the military is quite literally to avoid detection while still mapping the enemy. And it would also work against the silence because sonar can’t be fooled by active sound cancellation, it’s just detecting any and all large sources of sound-like vibrations, even if it isn’t truly sound. Even if the Silence was cloaked, passive sonar would pick it up, even if very slightly. It could be a potential late-game tool to help avoid it easier

I think something cool to add, would be like a sound disorienting device Stop the silence for a sec and then make it angrier. You have a little bit of time to get away if you’re fast enough but if you’re not you just pissed off the wrong Leviathan.

First of all The leviathan and its anumations already look great. You did a great job. What I would still change about it however is: a) make the fins on the tail also move with the Leviathan. As of now they still look stiff and make the leviathan look a little bit wacky b) thats just taste but maybe make the sythe on the leviathans head faster when stabbing. Anyways you guys did an incredible job already

I still hope to see a sort of psychic predator in this. Something where you hear it and it starts talking pulling stuff from the characters memories to try luring you closer. Sort of like how in the trailer when the AI of the sub tells you to get closer to an anomaly but then it degrades to it just telling you to "come closer". Hearing it telling you to get closer is a last warning before it attacks as it is now no longer luring you in, you've gotten close enough to be worth the effort. Keeping a low profile might be hard for this creature however as passive bioluminescence may give it away, though it might instead be mistaken for a different creature. Getting to within a certain distance, the creature drops all facades and attacks releasing a roar and a (reasonable) screech within your mind as it lunges with speed. I personally like the idea of it less seeing the player as it sees electricity and is hunting you because of it, and a way to possibly avoid it is to pull out all your batteries though that may prove fatal during active hunting. After all it it'd be a shame to waste a meal. A second option might also be to swim manually. Just don't pull out your seaglide... It'll see that. If you made it this far, or if you just skipped past it, you have my apologies for having to deal with this wall of text, or who knows this might inspire a critter

I played the mod and i have a few thoughts; the mod is terrifying, especially when you have to get out of the cyclops for the data download but i new i wasnt in any danger so i think it would be a little better if you saw a few glimpses of the silence in the dark just to show that it is a real threat. I think the sound effects are great tho and but they are a little loud. But the attack the silence makes is amazing. However the silence is really easy to avoid and i had to spawn it in just to see the attack

Now I love this concept of the silence leviathan but i feel like instead of becoming slightly invisible maybe it could change the color of it crystals and bioluminescence to complete black to blend in with the rest of the void. Just a suggestion though.

Since the dead zone is no longer a dead zone, you may want to tweak a voiceline. Instead of: “Warning, entering ecological deadzone, adding report to databank.” You may want to do something like this: “Warning, scans indicate a steep terrain drop in all directions. No landmasses detected beyond this point. Adding report to databank.”

You could add a module for the cyclops that visualizes The Silence's sound waves so you can have a rough idea of where it is, maybe you could unlock it after you scan the leviathan and craft it from void materials or some other method that requires exploration of the new void biomes.

i just tested the mod and HOLY SHIT, this is amazingly scary, i was shitting my pants even when i went on creative, the only part that kinda sucked is how often the silence attacked, your cyclops could be off and pn silent running mode and it still took a bite out of you, maybe give it a cooldown before it can attack again, idk tho, maybe i just suck. the silence is super detailed and super creepy, i love this mod and hope it gets to the full thing and doesnt get abandoned *cough* seal submarine *cough* sorry for bad english

I already commented this on Anthomnia's video when I watched it, but I just had to come here and tell you directly too. I've never been much of a horror game player and I fell off Subnautica before even meeting any hostile creatures because I'm just not a crafting survival game person. But I've never had any issues watching horror games. Like, ever. Including Subnautica, even modded. Over ten minutes after I finished watching Anthomnia's video, I was still shaking slightly from unspent adrenaline. I don't know if it was the creature itself, the sound effects and music, the PDA warning, that ghostly tease on the sonar... hearing the genuine, visceral terror in Anthomnia's frantic, quaking voice... Something about the way it all added up like, directly tickled the part of my brain responsible for fear.

I love the look, though the cloaking is definitely going to cause a bit of "oh what's that noise... oh I'm dead", maybe a better implementation would be that it's fur acts as a retro reflector and it shows up like a perliean noised mirror so from far its that difficult see, but when it gets closer you start to realise something is very wrong. One of the most effective things about the leviathans in subnautica is there's always a way to narrowly escape and flee in terror, keeping the fear alive past the first encounter

I had an idea for how you could transition from the story of the original subnautica to this one, so at the end of subnautica Ryley manages to get back home with his ship but he has a massive debt of a trillion credits, his life would be very difficult with that much debt holding him down so alterra presents an alternate method to pay his debt. Since he is the only human to have made it back from 4546b he knows the most about how to navigate its waters making him the ideal person to send to uncover the rest of the planets secrets. Alterra views him as a cheap, expendable way to gain important Intel on a recourse rich planet which is why they don't send a team with him. All they send is the blueprints needed such as the hydra and any basic modules the hydra may have. The updated pda given is programed to create new or improved custom upgrades along the way based on what he needs and what he finds while exploring. Once he makes it back he receives some sort of signal or something that would guide him to the void edge or something.

You should make the silence leviathan a little more articulated, it just looks too stiff, and when it turns around it looks more like it’s just spinning and doesn’t look like there’s any weight to it

Either give us weapons to fight this thing or take away its cloaking. There can't be both no weapons and that thing having cloaking. Another option I would settle for is when it is cloaked, give it a just noticeable fuzzy outline or give us some form of equipment that allows us to see it.

Hello Aci, I'm a fan of your channel and i really love the idea of call of the void. Even though I'm not a professional at modding or anything like that, I've been having some ideas about a general idea of a leviathan for call of the void (If you choose to think about the general idea of it in -game). My idea would be to have a long sea serpent-like creature long enough to wrap around your ship and crush it like a python or other constricting snake. To deter it you could use the warp drive or if you're up to it make an electrical shock emitter like the sea moth or there could be a modification to the hydra that emits sulfur and deters it via that (like snakes irl). It would have a small mouth (for a leviathan) which would be about big enough to swallow you or any prey. It would also have a lure like a dragon or angler fish which might have a similar effect as the mesmer in game (but it would be alot stronger obviously). It would also have bioluminescent dots going down the sides of it like a dragon fish as well. And one more idea I had was an expandable gullet cinda like a filter feeding whale only a lot smaller. It would mainly feed on small to medium sized fish but if it were to be given the chance it would take on a bird leviathan or the sea giraffe things (i forgot what to call them) and squeeze them to death. Anyways that's it i do hope you at least consider the general idea since i personally think it would be a good addition to the mod especially since you're going for the more alien like approach. I will understand if you and your modders are too busy but I just thought I would share this idea with you. (also I was thinking it would be called the constrictor or the sea snake leviathan).
