RIP Sonya Eddy, you entertained us and you brought so much life into the character of Epiphany Johnson. You're gonna be truly missed.

RIP Sonya. No-nonsense Epiphany was my favorite character for so long. Will miss her (and Sonya) so much. She had so much story left to tell and was in for some great things. Also missing Monica/Leslie now. Hope we see her again some day.

Have you actually watched the show for not than an episode?
@ambervaletta92406 жыл бұрын
Amber Valetta Yes I did watch more than one episode of the show. Epiphany's character is the same in every episode, so that's why I spoke out against her character. The attitude and the facial expressions she makes remind me of some mammy characters from the early 20th century.
@lstarsabb2 жыл бұрын
@@ambervaletta9240 I agree to point they differently made her the strict mammy for the first couple of decades she's been on the show, but they made her mom welcoming and friendly now, unfortunely she doesn't get a lot of solo storylines like the others tho. Which i don't like, but i'm hoping that's because of her schedule and not because of a bad contract.

@Amber Valetta If you wanna be a casting critic I think you need to also have more than just a "viewer wish list" and race issues to base it on. Epiphany is a boss, bosses are always nosy, bossy, demanding and controlling, that's kinda their job. And Epiphany isn't just any old boss, she's a charge nurse. I don't know if you've ever worked in nursing but I think Epiphany does an amazing job at portraying the real-world charge nurse.
@ambervaletta92403 жыл бұрын
Kerry I never said I wanted to be a casting critic nor do I have race issues, I only said if GH wants to have a more diverse cast they should hire people who are not outdated stereotypes which is exactly what Epiphany is. Not every boss talks to their employees with such disdain and condescension as Epiphany does. If they did than every employee would find another job right away. Just so you know I did do some more research into General Hospital, and there were people who complained about how Epiphany does reinforce a bad stereotype. I also remember Sonya Eddy (who plays Epiphany) had the same cliched character on an episode of Malcolm in the Middle. What that tells me is that Sonya Eddy is not versatile as an actress at all.
@kerry65063 жыл бұрын
@@ambervaletta9240 Or could it be that Sonya Eddy is just like the rest of us and takes the jobs because she needs to pay her bills? The cast doesn't have creative control of the shows they play on and should they turn away work because they don't necessarily agree with how their character is being portrayed? If that was the case Hollywood would've been out of business years ago. It's an uphill battle for women in the workforce, and I think it's highly arrogant ignorant to criticize another woman earning her keep. And p.s. I worked for a MANY of charge nurses that were exactly like Epiphany and I didn't quit my job and neither did the rest of the staff because we knew we didn't want the responsibilities they were charged with nor the bosses they had to answer to. They ran a tight ship, as it should be in medical care, and they were HIGHLY respected for it.
@ambervaletta92403 жыл бұрын
@@kerry6506 People do have control over what type of character they want to play. They could simply say they don't want to play that character if they don't want to. What's really ignorant and arrogant is that you still won't admit that Epiphany is an overdone caricature that isn't necessary in Hollywood. It's odd that you say women face an uphill battle, but you're completely okay with Epiphany perpetuating such an outdated stereotype. Seems like you don't care about women's rights very much at all. P.S. I doubt every hospital was run the way your hospital was. I also doubt every charge nurse in every hospital is like Epiphany either, so you are the one being arrogant if you think you speak for all charge nurses. One last thing you need to learn to turn the caps lock off. Your comments look juvenile and immature to respond to when you do such a childish thing. I would've thought somebody who works in a hospital would know better than to leave the caps lock on when talking to other people.

@@ambervaletta9240 So you can't win this legitimate debate on merit, so you'll go for personal insults which totally negates anything intellectual you might've said before that. As much as GH wants to be more diverse with who they hire on their show I don't understand why they brought Epiphany on the show. If GH wants to add more black people to their show, they should bring people on the show who don't reinforce a bad stereotype of black people. The problem I have with Epiphany is that I see no difference between her and Rasputia from Norbit. Both characters are mean, fat, nosy, selfish, bossy, demanding, controlling, and always have to get the last word no matter what. I believe that if GH wants to have more black people on their show, at least bring black people in who don't act like caricatures that are just an overdone cliche. The Epiphany character is doing a huge disservice to black people much the way people complained that Rasputia portrayed black women erroneously. The only difference is people complained about Rasputia but nobody said anything about Epiphany. I however see no difference between the two, and I think people should be complaining about Epiphany much the way they complained about Rasputia.

Amber Valletta you’re ignorant. It’s obvious you don’t know her character outside of physical appearance. You’re just using this as an opportunity to speak on your own racist / stereotypical views. At least own the fact that you’re a bigot instead of being a coward.
