Austin City Limits presents highlights from the 23rd Annual Americana Honors, recorded at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium. Performers include Sierra Ferrell, Waxahatchee with MJ Lenderman, Blind Boys of Alabama, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell.

A monument to music, Austin City Limits has showcased iconic performances from legends and innovators in every genre of popular song for a remarkable five decades. The series is the inspiration for the popular Austin City Limits Music Festival and has earned countless accolades for its quality presentation of live music performances, including a Peabody Award, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame designation and it remains the only TV series awarded the National Medal of Arts. How odd to have MJ on, then have the guitarist behind him cover his solos. I really missed the Waxahatchee touring band on this version, Eliana and Spencer especially, though the singing is lush as ever.

Just shows how tight the Waxahatchee band is--this is still a great song, but not as good as the full band. Sorry ACL, epic fail.

We may want to reevaluate the phrase epic fail here. This is the very first performance i have seen of the artist and it truly caught me off guard in the impact it had on me. It drove me to explore further. To be honest and maybe its the sentimental part of that first discovery and yet maybe its just personal taste but this performance remains my favorite. Your point of the band may be where you are emphasizing this. For me, her presence in this performance doesnt even allow my attention a second to focus on the band. Good thoughts and well wishes to you.

@@ssanchoclaus it's a great song. Great performance, too, but I like to see the entire band and not a house band approach at an awards show. So it's an epic fail on the part of ACL, not Waxahatchee, Katie Crutchfield, or MJ Lenderman.
