This is actually factual. Tread lightly is an understatement. I spoke to a sync rep literally yesterday and their stance against licensing any AI involved music in any way was pretty clear! However, there’s no putting this AI stuff back in the box…

AI is nothing more than a tool to use. If we wanted to get technical and hyper-boomer about this, even putting effects on instruments and voice recordings is "faking" art in some way, changing or even erasing the "soul" of the instrument or voice. Let alone mentioning AutoTune and vocoders which are famous for tuning voices of guys who alone are totally stoned and out of tune and shouldn't pursue singing careers. But in the end, AutoTune, all the plug-ins we use when creating, and even AI, are just tools at our disposal. It's the use that we make of it that matters. I'm a composer and producer, I do most of the job by myself, but I don't deny using some AI tools on my music, and I don't see anything so wrong and toxic about it if I use a tool that helps me equalizing, mixing and mastering in 1/10 of the time I'd use doing it all the old way. In the time it used to take me to mix and master 1 track, with some tools I can mix and master 5-6 tracks, and they sound perfect, and all the artistic composition is my stuff. It's different than just typing a prompt (and by the way, how long will it take for production companies and even music libraries to start using AI or even better investing in their own AI tools and start producing all the music they need by themselves? In the future it will be pretty common so let's get ready for it, and shall I say, let's all learn to use AI at our advantage).

Or we can all go old school, John Lee Hooker way, pick a guitar , sit on the porch and composing songs like that (and John Lee Hooker and all that kinda Blues is fuckin' AWESOME!)

Bad take bro… perfecting the use of autotune is an art in itself. It doesn’t work for everyone.
