Good demo with a guy who actually has some feel and using a decent amp. So many demos of these pickups have guys who have no vibe and play though crap amps like PRS with buzzy OD. I would love to hear a A B comparison between these and a good real vintage strat. I really miss my '62 & '63 Strats ... that sparkle is amazing!

I got a set of the Limited Edition Vintage Hots (Only 50 sets made, signed by Fralin), and I gotta tell ya, these are the BEST pickups I've ever heard on ANY guitar, ever. I can do pretty much anything I want with them, and they changed what was a great guitar anyway (2007 US Strat), to a fabulous guitar. Couldn't be happier, it's like I went out and spent big bucks on a custom shop badass.

Gentlemen, Vintage Hots go as 'not that great when dirty' in the forums etc... and in a couple of demos on utube that seems to be true kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqvPd3ukYtqfY80 not smooth at all to say the least, kind of raspy. In your demo they sound amazing with overdrive, can you comment on that?
@ToneShapers8 жыл бұрын
Hi, glad you like the video! Regarding the tonal difference, it's the combination: guitar, effects, amp, HANDS. The last in all caps to signify its importance. Great players with great hands can make most anything sound good. Landau, Hinds, Bramhall. Oh, and Dave Scott!
@emreemre3698 жыл бұрын
I wish you could get more specific about the guitar, effects, amp side of things. Thanks anyway.
@ToneShapers8 жыл бұрын
We do talk some about the gear in the video description. There were a couple of amps we used, but this video used the Maz 18. The effects were most likely Dave's, and he changes up, so hard to say. This was recorded several years ago. Dave often uses stuff that gear snobs might turn their noses up at, but his tone is just always impeccable. Really. A typical conversation might be "Traynor head huh?" "Yeah, I picked it up in a pawn shop for $150." And it just sounds over the top good. We've spoken with many guitar players over the year who don't really believe the "tone is in the hands" thing, but we do. The Strat is just a Road Worn '50s Strat with the Fralins and a Callaham trem. A daily driver. Light though, 6.9 pounds.
