McGrattan was one of if not the toughest to play ever. True gentleman and code follower too. Around 7 minutes in his second one with Belak, McGrattan almost buckles, knew he was hurt so he pauses for a couple seconds to see if Belak's gonna continue then resumes when Belak throws back. Could've taken the easy ko like most others but he cares more about respecting the other player than all the ego stuff. Love it

McGrattons the reincarnation of Bob Probert I swear. I realize that's impossible being that BM was born long before Probert left us. Probert practically ushered in the era of the era of the coded enforcer. Both gentle giants who didn't have to get angry to fight, didn't hit guys on the ground, didn't yell and scream and try to hit the other guy while the refs breaking it up. Just ass kicking machines on ce skates. The Mcgrattan vs McIntyre may have been the best Super Extra Heavyweight fight ever. McIntyre has the best chin and is so massive. Those 2 guys and Boogard for about 2 seasons in Minnesota are the scariest guys in NHL history. Honourable mention to Shawn Thornton. The greatest regular player enforcer for a decade is Probert with the Red Wings. Who else played 15+ minutes a game and it was just a given that he was the HW champ for a decade in modern hockey? And in a Leaf fan and hated Probert back when he was with Detroit. Other than Wendel in his first or second year in the league, I never saw a Leaf beat him. He just pummeled them all including Wendel in later fights. What'd ya think?

I have no idea how McIntyre stayed up. McGrattan landed easily 5 or 6 shots that would've at least floored if not ko'd just about anyone else. When looking at the toughest enforcers ever it's unfair to compare guys who had long careers(for an enforcer of the Super heavy era) like McGrattan against a guy who played close to his whole career in the pro hockey leagues below the NHL like McIntyre. McGrattan almost certainly had the best record of all the Super heavies who played regularly each season in the NHL throughout that era. Every team carried a minimum of 2 pure enforcers and most of them were massive and skilled fighters on ice. I would say Mc Intyre and Boogaard(for his first couple seasons in Minny) along with McGrattan were the scariest guys who ever played. GOAT when era is taken into consideration, the only guy I've seen who was pretty much unanimously regarded as HW champ in his time, Bob Probert! He had the title for a decade straight and was the guy who ushered in the enforcers code. Before and during his time when their was a fight it didnt end when one guy hit the ground, or even when the refs came in, most fights took probably over a minute to break up cause they'd be going insane trying to get at each other, non stop yapping, cheapshots. Probies the first guy who wouldn't hit somebody in a vulnerable position, even if they turned away or turtled he'd hold up, he didnt go insane, he didn't tap or showboat and he refused to fight anyone outside his weight class. Must've been hard being the champ for that long having to deal with dirty crap against you all the time while trying to follow a code. BTW, I'm a leaf fan and hated Probert when he played. It's only in hindsight and now having access to all his fights that I see how unique he was. Nicest, most humble, softest spoken guy, had a hard time getting up for fights cause he wasn't an angry or excitable person.
