I cannot wait for the 3rd series! Helen Edmundson has done a great adaptation - with Superb actors, well written stories, every scene has multi layers that can be watched many times and Bertie who is the ideal embodiment of Dalgliesh - PD James would be so pleased with him .. intelligent, “quiet, gentle, deep voiced man” - as she describes Dalgliesh in ‘A mind to Murder’. Just don’t let him go to America again!

I thought the 80s series was great , with the evocative music , but the new ones are excellent- the relationships between Dalgliesh and Kate Miskin was beautifully rounded off in at the end of The Murder Room last night....

Agreed. Not sure if the on screen dynamic between Dalgliesh and Miskin mirrors what is in the novels but it was beautifully acted by Bertie and Carlyss nevertheless.

Bertie and Carlyss are wonderful together. Absolutely loved both series. Hope there will be many more.

Bertie Carvel should have been cast as the next Bond… but since they killed him off & sold the franchise it’s all gone now. But Bertie for BOND 100 % he’s got it all. The second season is without a doubt the BEST drama series on this planet well worth watching & the last episode is so, so, so worth waiting for. I could watch this series non stop 24/7 - 365. Unfortunately there’s only 2 episodes more in the entire series in 2024 .. that’s as far as the PD James series took it.

They haven't sold Bond off on the contrary. They are in the early pre production for the next film. I agree Bertie would be a fabulous Bond he reminds me of Timothy Dalton .. Flemming's Bond !

Such a talented actor with a great range. And a really nice guy as well; I saw him last year as Donald Trump in "The 47th" and met him after the last show. He was so energetic, and he was like "Oh I know, let's take a selfie, and step bac so we can get the stage door sign in, that'll look really cool." (:

So many good actors have played Dalgliesh...Roy Marsden in the 80's. Martin Shaw in the 90's . Roy and especially Bertie are the best.
